Post Hurricane Sandy Update

Hey everyone! Just popped by to say that I won't be able to post or comment for abit. If you haven't heard, the Eastern coast of the US has been devastated by Hurricane Sandy. I count myself extremely fortunate in that we did not personally suffer any damage or ill effects even though we did lose our power, water and phone service in Lower Manhattan. While we're waiting for it to be restored, I'm so glad we have a gas stove and many pots filled with water. I've become quite adept at cooking by candlelight and dancing around in the dark to our iPods has been our nightly entertainment. We're also sleeping alot. I haven't been this rested up in awhile. In all seriousness, my thoughts and well wishes go out to those who really suffered and I hope all my East Coast and NYC blogger friends made it through the storm unscathed.

I tagged along with my husband to work today to catch a shower and partake in some power. On the bus, a man asked his female companion where she wanted get off, to which she replied "Where there's power!" Everyone just cracked up. It's nice that we can still laugh.

Rowena, I was thinking about you doll. My cousin is stuck in London/Paris! HAHAHAHA Oh whyyyy couldn't it be me??? LOL I'm so glad you mentioned that it could be worse! It's horrible to not have power, but to lose a home, loved one, a situation could always be worse. It surely makes you appreciate things and what you have! I love how you are handling things. You guys have experience a taste of what we go through in New Orleans. LOVE you doll! ((HUG))

Glad to hear you're fine. I understand how it was; being a victim of such tragedies too, myself. Not direct victims though, but we were affected. Thank goodness you're alive! :)

It's so great to hear that you are okay! I hope things get better soon for you guys down there. We got hit with some of Sandy, but not as devastating as New York and New Jersey.

Phew, I was a little worried about some of you guys! Dancing in the candle light with your ipod sounds good and it's good that you're working with whatever you've got. Hope you're fully stocked on food/water doll.

Sending you lots of squeezy hugs!

I'm so glad you are okay and even have a place to shower. :) There's a rumor there are power outlets at a post office {not sure which one though} that everyone is using to recharge things. At least the sun will be out for a few days so it will be nice and bright.

Glad to hear you are safe Rowena. Hope they get power back on asap. I know what it was like to spend nights without power after hurricane. Take care.

Glad to hear you guys are safe Rowena. We live in a mountainous area here in the pacific northwest that is prone to nasty storms that leave us stranded and without power. After going through days without power repeatedly, we decided to get a generator. When you need it, you need it!

Looking forward to hearing from you soon. Stay safe and take care of yourselves.
