Style Crush : Audrey Tautou

May 28, 2013

There were so many fabulous fashions at the 66th annual Cannes Film Festival but my absolute favorite red carpet look belonged to Audrey Tautou this year. The gamine actress who also served as the mistress of ceremonies of the awards closed out the festival in fine style wearing a vibrant red Prada ball gown featuring pink straps and a matching waist sash at the Palme D'Or Winners Photocall. She was radiantly beautiful as always and this gown struck a perfect balance between drama and freshness. What do you think of this look?

Health update: Last week was abit rough. I was battling the dizzies and I also sprained my ankle while trying to avoid a sidewalk biker the other week so I had to stay off my feet and rest. It all bites but it still beats having any life threatening as far as I'm concerned. Besides I've found that the hubster makes quite the excellent butler haha. Seriously, he makes everything all the more bearable for me and I'm incredibly lucky and thankful for that.

Firmoo Glasses Take Two

May 16, 2013

I first wrote about Firmoo.com last December when they sent me a free pair of glasses to review. I loved my prescription spectacles so I was pretty psyched when the nice folks at Firmoo recently wrote to offer me another free pair. Since I received that first pair from them, which I got so many compliments on, I started to wear my glasses more again.

I had my doubts about getting glasses online but after my initial experience with Firmoo, I know it's viable. Their website was as user-friendly and well organized as I remembered. Again I utilized the Virtual Try-On system where you can upload your own photo to help me "try on" and narrow down my frame selections. And the product specifications which detail each frame's dimensions was super helpful to compare the frame sizes I was considering with ones I already own. I went for another prescription pair and their easy to use order system made entering the information and placing my order a breeze. My new glasses arrived in the mail about a week and a half later. They came with a hard protective case, a soft case and a cleaning cloth. A tiny screwdriver with extra screws was also included which I have to say is a really nice touch.

I wanted black frames and I chose the CP6077 style. I'm just as happy with this pair as I was with my first. I'm glad I opted for a different shape even though I was tempted to stick with a rectangular style similar to the SD2242 frames I already have. They feel light yet sturdy and I love how they look on. The quality is comparable to my designer frames and I haven't had any issues with the frames or non-reflective lenses. My overall experience with Firmoo has been really positive. They definitely make it possible to purchase quality eyewear at great prices online.

The wide range of fashionable frames and sunglasses that Firmoo offers is impressive especially since their eyewear is so unbelievably affordable with prices starting at just $10. Firmoo still runs their incredible worldwide First Pair Free program for new customers. You can choose from RX or fashion glasses. All you have to pay is shipping. There's no risk and the price is right so if you'd like to score some free eyewear of your own, visit their site.

I received a complimentary pair of eyeglasses from Firmoo for the purpose of this review. I was not provided any other compensation and all opinions expressed here are 100% my own.

Eye Candy : Kang Dong Wan for Elle

May 9, 2013

Kang Dong Won brings the smolder to the cover of Elle Korea's May 2013 "27 Most Wanted Men" issue. His mesmerizing charm shines on as he wears looks by Saint Laurent, Lanvin, Dior Homme and Burberry Prorsum in the editorial set in a Parisian mansion lensed by Takay. In the accompanying interview, the comely actor talks about his role in the upcoming film Band of Thieves as well as his views on fashion and his Paris Fashion Week experience as a special guest of YSL creative director Hedi Slimane, revealing that he was so excited that he wanted to rush onto the stage. Maybe he's feeling nostalgic since he did once walk those catwalks early in his career as a model. Kang Dong Won is one of a few actors I actually fangirl over for his charismatic screen presence and attractively deep voice. I also admire how he chooses roles that challenge his acting skills rather than just coast on his looks. It's cool that more Asian stars are establishing relationships with fashion designers like how Song Hye Kyo and Zhou Xun were invited by Karl Lagerfeld to attend the Chanel S/S 2012 show and also appeared in The Little Black Jacket book and exhibit.

Health update: I'm still battling vertigo and a touch of tinnitus now. My condition varies day to day and I'm still taking it easy. I have one more week with my wrist brace and my last physical therapy session for my shoulder is next week so there's some progress at least. Trying to stay positive seems to help. Thank you again for the continued support!

Just An Update

May 2, 2013

Thank you so much to everyone for your very kind words of support and encouragement on my condition in my last post. Considering the state of my health these days, these words ring so true. With vertigo, it doesn't actually look like there's anything wrong with me but how I feel is another story entirely. Thankfully my episodes have still been mild but I'm also not over them yet. I've been trying to live as normally as possible and extra rest, generous hydration as well as limiting time on my desktop computer is helping me to manage it. What I didn't mention last time is that I also re-aggravated an old wrist injury. An MRI revealed a partial TFCC tear. I opted not to get the cortisone shot that my hand doctor recommended so I need to wear a brace to keep the area immobilized for three weeks and undergo therapy instead. At least there's a light at the end of the tunnel with my frozen shoulder and I should be done with physical therapy for that soon. I just really need to get myself sorted out right now so I don't know when I'll be back. I do really miss my blogging routine and interactions with you all though and I will try to visit soon. If it wasn't for my iPad and Pinterest, I'd be really bored.
