A London Fog Latte with Plum Deluxe Tea

London Fog Tea Latte, Earl Grey Latte Recipe

I often talk about my love of tea and how I drink several cups a day. London Fog Lattes are a particular concoction I've been enjoying lately. This drink is also known as an Earl Grey Tea Latte since it's made with Earl Grey Tea. I didn't think this drink could get any better until I recently tried it with the Mindful Morning Black Tea from Plum Deluxe. This fresh take on Earl Grey is a 100% organic tea blend that features cream black tea, orange peels, blue cornflowers, bergamot oil and vanilla essence. It not only smells heavenly (like I wouldn't mind wearing it as a fragrance) but it may also be one of the prettiest looking teas I've ever seen.

I've been asked how I make my London Fog Latte so I'm sharing my recipe here.

London Fog Latte Recipe

8 oz. hot water
1 - 2 tsp. or teabag of Earl Grey Tea
4 oz. milk of your choice (I like 2 oz. of coconut milk + 2 oz. of organic half &half)
1/2 tsp. vanilla syrup or vanilla extract (I prefer the latter.)
Sweetener of your choice (I personally use 4 tsp. organic coconut sugar in mine.)

1. Bring your water to a full boil.
2. Pour into cup and steep the tea for 3 - 5 minutes.
3. Strain the tea leaves out or remove the tea bag.
4. Heat your milk in a small saucepan on the stove over medium heat or microwave but don't boil it.
5. Whisk the milk until it's frothy. I use an Aerolatte steam free frother which is so handy.
6. Add the milk to the tea and stir in vanilla.
7. Sweeten to taste.

If you like Earl Grey tea, this is a lovely way to enjoy it's flavors and I highly recommend trying Plum Deluxe's Mindful Morning Blend. It's really excellent.

Andy from Plum Deluxe also sent along the Portland Rose City Chai for me to try. This is a blend of black tea, almond rooibos, oregon rose petals, cardamom, ginger, cinnamon, lemongrass, blackberry essence. This tea is inspired by the company's home base of Portland, Oregon. It is a unique infusion of floral and spice that I found quite pleasant and soothing and it's also an eye pleaser.

Tea has so many wonderful health benefits including helping with mental alertness, cancer, heart disease, and diabetes as well as encouraging weight loss and lowering cholesterol. All of Plum Deluxe's teas which are created in small batches are organic and fair trade blends that are non-GMO, gluten free, vegan and sulfite-free. They offer a range limited edition seasonal blends along with their signature tea blends and there is a good variety of something for everyone. They also have a Tea of the Month Club that allows tea lovers to continually experience a series of their handcrafted artisanal tea blends.

The mindful philosophy and passion behind Plum Deluxe is something to appreciate as well. Andy Hayes started blogging after losing his mom Pam to a 6-year battle with breast cancer as a way to honor and share the life lessons he learned from her. He began blending his own teas with an intention to engage and inspire people to slow down, connect and savor all those special moments in life no matter how big or small.

To learn more about Plum Deluxe, visit their website. They currently ship only within the United States though they do have plans of expanding to Canada and Europe.

  1. I do love a good cuppa tea and Plum Deluxe would certainly fit into my tea cupboard no problem. The idea behind it is so lovely, that Andy Hayes is honouring his mother's memories and life's many fleeting moments is absolutely gorgeous. Thanks for sharing!

  2. Love your cute cup. I've decided this week to stop drinking coffee and have tea instead. Green tea is my favourite!

  3. As much as I love cappuccino, at certain times of the day, I enjoy a cup of tea, Engish Breakfast or Earl Grey being favourites. I shall have to try this London Fog Latte! Love the name.

  4. This looks gorgeous, really yummy. Happy weekend doll xx

  5. Love the tea cup is so cute I also enjoy a great cup of tea so this I will not mind trying out. Have a lovely weekend.

  6. Oh, the story behing Plum Deluxe is so sad :( It's awful when something like this happens to anyone. I really like the idea behind it though! I agree that people nowadays need to slowdown and enjoy little things in life. Such as a nice cup of tea. Lately I've been drinking more coffee, but now I am going to buy a tea pack and make myself a cup. Beautiful photos, Rowena, as from a magazine! Have a lovely weekend, dear friend!

  7. Tea and milk don't go together for me, I've always found it an odd combination.

  8. You know that Im a tea drinker as well so Id like to try it too, your recipe sounds good as well and perfect for a chilly evening. Ah, Im in love with the mug too, so adorable!:) Have a good weekend Rowena! xo

  9. Although I'm mainly a coffee drinker, I do love teas as well, Earl Grey included. TY for sharing the recipe, and the story of Plum Deluxe as well:)

  10. I love drinking tea too. Thanks for sharing your recipe.
    Have a great weekend.

  11. I only started drinking coffee in 2004 when I started working as a Montessori teacher, it helped to wake me up to deal with the little ones. I haven't been drinking tea since with the exception of Chinese tea. After recent experience with detox tea, I'm been more open to teas again. This sounds lovely, definitely will check out their website, Rowena.

    Have a great weekend!

  12. The story behind Plum Deluxe is really touching and ever so sad. I'm really glad the creator is putting something so positive out there now though from such a sad time! I'm not yet a tea-drinker, but if I ever become one, I will most definitely check out Plum Deluxe :)

    1. I love Andy's concept and the idea behind it too! Especially since my father in law lost his sister today after her fight against lung cancer for almost 1 year! And yes, I'm a tea drinker too, my fave one is my rooibus, vanilla tea with some milk! Gotta try the London Fog Latte as well! <3

  14. I've only just started drinking teas for pleasure, so to speak. I'm not a fan of Earl Grey, but I love the exotic, mixed tea flavors of Teavana teas. If you really like tea, I would suggest buying a few from Teavana if you haven't already.

  15. All so cool!
    Have a nice weekend!

    Alice Cerea,

  24. Oh! I am so pinning this! I love the philosophy behind their tea....that is such a beautiful mission! And I happen to LOVE tea as well! It is a warm treat to me as I stay clear of soda and coffee. This recipe sounds like the perfect latte!!! Thank you Rowena! I hope that you all are having good weather in New York....we have been getting slammed with rain in Chicago. Off to pin my friend! All the best this weekend sweet lady! Nicole xoxo

  25. Wonderful review. Visually speaking, this tea does look stunning...and I'm sure that is tastes lovely. The fact it has a beautiful fragrance is additional benefit. Thank you for sharing your recipe and explaining how you prepare this tea.

I don't drink milk, but I might try adding almond milk to my daily tea. That might be interesting.

    have a fantastic weekend!

  26. I didn't drink tea for years as I didn't like it. But recently I have started to drink tea and am quickly developing an addiction. It's makes me so warm which I love.

  27. Love your cute cup, Rowena, beautiful color, too. Thx for sharing your special recipe with us. Happy weekend, girl.

  28. I love tea too, especially rooibos tea. Your cup is too cute.

  29. I'm absolutely a tea drinker, especially scented teas! I usually go for TWG, Gryphon Tea which serves awesome teas. I've not heard of this brand tho. Would love to try some day........ xoxo

  30. Thanks for sharing this amazing recipe Rowena! I love tea, especially loose green and trying new mixing!:)

  31. The teas are really pretty but I'm really boring and only like black, green, and white without the floral and fruity stuff. I'm really happy they are sulfite-free though. Not many companies care to mention that these days. :)

  32. I've had two cups of tea today, and after I hit 'publish' on this comment, I'll be off to make a third LOL
I'm actually not a fan of Earl Grey since I don't like the bergamot notes, but I'm mostly fine with other black teas if I add a splash of soy milk (not a fan of almond/coconut/other milk with black tea).

The Portland Rose City Chai is just BEAUTIFUL to look at--would definitely love to brew that! Definitely checking out their site after this--GOTTA HAVE A WISHLIST FOR WHEN THEY DO SHIP TO CANADA ;)
As for personal tea favourites, generally oolongs and most black tea varieties. I'm currently madly obsessed with Four O'Clock's 'Banana Cinnamon Spice' tea--currently on my third box and I stock up on that shizzz like nobody's business.

  33. What a delicious combination Rowena! I love both lattes and tea, so I have to try this. That mug is the cutest!

  34. i love chai lattes an rooibos lattes. i never thought of using coconut milk...i bet that would taste amazing!

  35. Those teas look beautiful and scrumptious. Now, I am totally craving a cream big mug of tea with milk:) Happy Tuesday, sweetie.

  36. this sounds really intriguing! i have never tried this before.

  37. Sounds wonderfully soothing. Right now I am all about fresh leaf mint tea. I have some growing in my garden so I have instant access to it. I drink it in the late afternoon as I still can't kick my habit of drinking coffee in the morning ;)

  38. I love a good London Fog latte! I usually make it with Earl Grey, which is my favorite, but it also works with black tea (currently using Russian Caravan from Fortnum & Mason). Wow, both of the Plum Deluze loose-leaf teas you featured above look incredibly pretty! They would be so great for the tea party I want to organize for my sister-in-law's baby shower!

  39. I love tea, hot tea in the winter and sweet iced tea in the summer. I normally just take it with cream and sugar for the hot version. This sounds wonderful, I need to try it sometimes. They are indeed the prettiest tea leaves I've ever seen, and the mug is just perfect for the tea lover :)
