Through My Lens : Recently On Instagram

World Trade Center at Night

There was alot going on in September yet somehow the month didn't seem to zoom by as quickly as August. The weather actually still felt somewhat summer up until the last week and now my outerwear is out. Here are a few highlights recently as seen through my lens and posted on Instagram. As usual, I'm not going to overload you with a million pics here so to see more, click over to my Instagram feed and you can also follow if you'd like.

New York is known as the city that never sleeps and it is sometimes even more vibrant and full of energy after dark. I love how the new World Trade Center just lights up our downtown skyline. I caught this spectacular view at the Blue Les Copains show at the Top of the Standard. And check out this gorgeous technicolor sunset too!

Malan Breton SS2016
I attended a few NYFW shows and one of them was for Taiwanese designer Malan Breton's SS2016 collection. The menswear portion featured traditionally inspired Hakka blue shirts and the giant red umbrellas really brought a sense of drama to the presentation.
New Balance Sneakers
My recently acquired New Balance 620 sneakers have been getting alot of wear lately.
Tribeca
The first day of fall in New York City was beautiful, sunny and warm but not hot. I wish it could be like this all the time.
Autumn
Some signs of fall. It can be so pretty when the leaves are turning in the city.
Upper East Side
Beautiful Beaux Arts architectural details spotted outside the Duke Semans Mansion on the Upper East Side.
Sams Spring Rolls
Tasty pork and leek spring roll salad from Sam's Spring Rolls on the Lower East Side. There are so many great dining options in that neighborhood that we want to explore.
 Mooncake
Snowskin mooncakes for the Chinese Mid Autumn Festival. I've never been a big fan of mooncakes. The snowskin ones are prettier than the regular ones but they don't taste any better in my opinion, just sweeter which is definitely not my cup of tea.
 Smorgasburg, Tuna poke
We finally made it Smorgasburg in Brooklyn and East Coast Poke was one of our favorites along with these fries and and this taco.
Son & Park
New to my beauty stash is AB cult favorite Son & Park Beauty Water which can be used as a cleansing water or toner and their Beauty Gel with encapsulated oxygen that I've been using as a primer. Beauty Water is available for $25 at Memebox and Beauty Gel is $30 through Sokoglam. Let me know if you'd like to see a full review on these.

You know I always love your photography...that night photo of NYC is simply superb and I absolutely loved that sunset photo...I do imagine NY as a city that never sleeps and I always enjoy your photographs of it.

This fashion show also seems interesting....especially those blue shirts that were inspired by traditional garments. I always love to see folkore as a source of fashion inspiration.

All the dishes you shared look yummy, but that pork especially so...lately, I've been craving salty dishes, I stopped craving sweets.

I do love it when the leaves turn....love that photo you captured, showing just that!

I love this series, your photos are always so much fun. And gosh this time of year it is hard to dress and I have to go coat shopping and I hate it. They NEVER fit me correctly, it is such an ordeal.

Rowena, Look at you with those sneakers and distressed jeans;) ..talk about chic!! If/when I'm in NY I plan to let you know so we might consult regarding where to dine and what to do. You have it down and always share the yummiest food photos. So glad you are starting to see some signs of fall. Our leaves here in WA are changing and it's so pretty. This is by far my most favorite time of the year. Happy Monday! ;) xxL

The first day of fall looked absolutely lovely in NYC! I love that weather too: sunny, but not too hot! Rowena, your New Balance's are so cool! I really like how you styled them with the ripped jeans. The rolls from the photo above made me hungry, they look so good! Have a nice day, dear friend!

Hi Rowena, well NYC is really photogenic. It's the place to be for a photographer :) If I compare it to our city. Let's not go there haha. Wow the new WTC is truly stunning and I love your new NB sneakers. I'm glad you guys had the perfect weather. The mooncakes might taste bad but they look super cute. Happy Tuesday!

beautiful photos. I love Fall, from the different colors of the falling leaves to the comfortable weather. Everything just feel a little bit calmer.
I know what you mean about the mooncakes. We received some recently, and they were oh so pretty but the taste of it was definitely not my cup of tea.

Hi Rowena,

Lovely round up of some of your latest happenings and captures. The show is most definitely eye catching indeed. Love the vibrancy of it and the Chinese element. That first pic of the city skyline shot is beautiful!

It looks like Autumn is looking pretty nice over in NYC. We are still experiencing some hazy weather here but it has improved quite a bit (thank goodness!) and hope that it will be totally cleared very soon.

Well, I still prefer the traditional moon cakes over all the different flavors and skins. Just plain old fashion me, I guess *_^ That spring roll salad looks super yummy, it's making me hungry at this hour right before my bed time here!!

Have a great weekend, my friend.

Cheers,
Jeann

Ugh, I'd love to revisit NYC someday and just walk the streets at night; that first photo is gorgeous. And whaaaaaat, what don't you like about mooncakes??? I love them so much that I once got confused between CNY and Autumn festival and was wondering why supermarkets weren't selling mooncakes in February. (#badAsian) I just like the lotus-y parts though, not big on the yolks themselves.
