Eye Candy : Editorial Roundup

November 30, 2015

This is where I round up some of the best images from recent celebrity editorials. There have been alot of good ones and not all of the holiday editions have been released yet. I had a hard time choosing between Lee Seung Gi and Kang Dong Won to lead this off since they're both favorites. Seung Gi and his adorably winning smile on the cover of Cosmo Men got the slight edge. The talented singer/actor is currently working on his second film Marital Harmony in which he portrays a fortune teller who has the power to influence the fate of a princess.

Kang Dong Won traveled to Spain the last time he appeared in High Cut and this time the magazine sent him to Italy. I was just reading that his just releases movie The Priests is even scarier than The Exorcist. Yes I will be avoiding that one.

Being Thankful and Expressing Gratitude

November 25, 2015
Gratitude

Thanksgiving is tomorrow and while it's a holiday I have some issues with because of it's terrible roots, I do wholly celebrate the idea of expressing gratitude at this time of year. I generally try to appreciate the good in my life especially when things don't happen to be going well and it can really be a perspective changer. With everything happening in the world recently, those of us lucky enough to not be affected can certainly consider ourselves more than fortunate. As someone who was in NYC during 9/11, I will say that I feel this deeply. I'm grateful for being able to regain my health, my husband, family and and friends and for all of you who come and share this space with me. Have a very happy and safe Thanksgiving if you're celebrating tomorrow! I will be taking a break for the rest of this week and new posts will resume next week.

Hada Labo Tokyo Skin Plumping Gel Cream
Hada Labo Tokyo is Japan's no. 1 skincare line and this gel cream is formulated with Super Hyaluronic Acid (a proprietary combination of 3 types of Hyaluronic Acid) that provides a deeper multi-layer hydration for smoother, younger looking skin. This luxuriously silky cream that is free of parabens, fragrances, dyes and mineral oil, combines the perfecting power of a serum with the intense hydration of a moisturizer. Dine Out : Little Park

November 20, 2015
Little Park Restaurant Week, Little Park Review

I will preface this by saying that I'm a little behind on my Dine Out posts since we dined at Little Park during Summer Restaurant Week but my reviews have also been a little out of sequence. Little Park which is part of the Smyth Hotel is located on the bustling corner of Chambers Street and West Broadway in Tribeca. This modern American restaurant serves up seasonal cuisine highlighting organic and sustainable farm to table ingredients. The decor in the L shaped space is classic, minimal and neutral with blonde wood tables, leather and fabric upholstered seating and mosaic marble tiled floors. Overall the food was good with an interesting mix of flavors that served to play up each of the main ingredients. We chose the heirloom tomatoes with strawberry and burrata and a vidalia onion tart with black fennel seed and summer herb as starters and they both tasted really fresh and vibrant. Our entrées of a girandole pasta with sunchoke marinara and zucchini and New York strip steak with market greens and charred leek were well balanced and comforting. And I'm not usually keen on dessert but I quite enjoyed the peach sorbet with spicy candied pecans. I think it may be because it was refreshingly tart and not sweet at all. The blueberry cake with corn ice cream in contrast was too sweet and I didn't care much for it. The service was cordial and a little bit slow but we were there during the lunch rush. It was a pleasant dining experience. This is our third visit to an Andrew Carmellini establishment and it would fall in between Locanda Verde and The Dutch for me. I will also mention that they have a good number of vegetarian options on the menu.

Strivectin Advanced Retinol Pore Refiner

November 18, 2015

As much as I like to try out the latest and greatest in skincare, there are some active ingredients that I always go back to because they just work. Retinol which is a pure form of Vitamin A is one of them. Retinol is commonly used to address a wide range of skin issues from aging to acne and from my experience, it is effective. As retinol becomes increasingly integrated with modern skincare, products also go beyond to offer more extensive benefits. Strivectin Advance Retinol Pore Refiner is a product that does this as an anti-aging treatment that also delivers instant and longterm improvements to the appearance of pores.

About the Brand: Strivectin is perhaps best known for their StriVectin-Di stretch mark cream which became a phenomenon with sales over 6 million tubes globally. Today, Strivectin is a clinically-proven, scientific skin care line that offers comprehensive anti-aging solutions. All Strivectin formulas contain the patented, proven NIA-114 molecule that powers up skin to repair damage and promote an ageless, healthy appearance.

Product Claims: Advanced Retinol Pore Refiner is a potent pore-minimizing lotion that helps to refine the appearance of enlarged pores while purifying, tightening and reducing the appearance of pores. As it hydrates and smoothes skin texture, it absorbs excess oil to control shine throughout the day for a fresher, mattified and youthful looking appearance.

A few items currently on my wish list. Feeling the classics and looking towards winter skincare this month.
What are you coveting lately?

4. Rebecca Minkoff Metallic Stars iPhone Case
{I've never really wanted a clear phone case until I recently got a rose gold iPhone 6S and my husband pointed out that I shouldn't be covering up the color. I really like the metallic star embellishment on this one!}

Emma Winston Earrings Review & A Giveaway

November 13, 2015
Emma Winston Jewelry, Emma Winston Giveaway

I might sound weird for saying this but I don't wear dangly earrings because I think that they make me look old. Yes I'm an oddball but I also have another reason for avoiding them since a friend of mine tore her earlobe when one of her earrings got caught in a top she was trying on at a store. I was there and let's just say it wasn't pretty and quite painful for her.

Oprah's Favorite Things & A Giveaway

Oprah's Favorite Things 2015

If you follow me on Instagram, then you might know that last Wednesday morning I attended a special blogger breakfast at O Magazine to preview some of Oprah's Favorite Things. As O's creative director Adam Glassman unveiled the goodies, we were treated to our own version of Christmas as Oprah's elves came out to present us with select items. Yes that happened and it was pretty awesome! And we also got to try most of the food as well. Here are some of the hot items we saw along with Oprah's commentary on why she chose them. And I have a little giveaway for you all too at the end.

The list which is featured in the December issue of O Magazine hit newsstands yesterday and this year's is the biggest ever with a selection of 87 fun and versatile gifts in all price ranges for everyone on your holiday shopping list. And for the first time ever, Oprah Media Group has teamed up with Amazon to make it really easy to shop Oprah’s Favorite Things, as seen in at www.amazon.com/oprah. With a variety of shipping options, including free shipping on eligible orders and free Two-Day Shipping with Amazon Prime, shoppers can find the perfect holiday gift and have items delivered directly to their doorstep in plenty of time for the holidays.

Oprah's Favorite Things 2015

Chelsea Market Torres Black Truffle Chip Basket   ($52)
"I discovered these potato chips in Spain this summer. They’re dangerous—super crunchy with an intense black truffle taste. Bet you can’t eat just one...unless it’s one entire bag! Bring them to a holiday open house for a sure hit."
The light truffle flavor was delicious!

The Elvis Cake by Carousel Cakes  ($33.56)
"Now, I don’t go around saying this lightly...but this cake is stupid good. The Elvis is a vanilla cake filled with banana custard and topped with peanut butter buttercream and chocolate ganache. As the King himself sang, I can’t help falling in love."
We got to try this in cupcake form and it was a truly decadent treat.

A&B American Style Pepper Sauce Set  ($23.99)
"Feel the BurnStedman and I are a hot sauce family, and I can tell you these pepper sauces are for real! The fresh ingredients give them flavor that’s just as intense as the heat. Pass the catfish, please..."

The Bruffin Bundle  ($85)
"Behold the Cronut of 2015: the Bruffin! Brioche-like stuffed muffins worthy of breakfast, lunch, or dinner are themed by country—the British has bacon and sharp cheddar; the Italian has pepperoni, pesto, and Parmesan; the American has Buffalo chicken, blue cheese, and hot sauce. A world of yum!"
We got one to take home and the one I had with bacon and sharp cheddar made for such a satisfying breakfast!

Eli's Bread Challah Menorah  ($45)
"Adam’s always kvetching about the lack of cute Hanukkah treats, so he was thrilled to find this braided challah menorah. A bright addition to the Festival of Lights."
So fun and yummy!

Hip To Be Square Collection of Five Bottles of Square Vodka  ($35 for one / $175 for set)
"Square One vodka is made in the U.S.A. with organic rye and water originating in the Teton Mountains. A set of the five flavors—botanical, cucumber, original, basil, and bergamot—makes a chic gift. This is the vodka I use for cocktails at home."

Through My Lens : Recently On Instagram

November 4, 2015
New York City, NYC

Somehow October turned out to be  pretty eventful and the number of photos I took seemed to reflect that. I didn't do a count but I think I posted more photos than usual last month and I actually had a tough time pulling out some highlights this time around. As usual, I'm not going to overload you with a million pics here so to see more, check out my Instagram feed and of course you can also follow if you'd like.

One of my favorite views of the city, looking west towards the Chrysler Building on 42nd street that's especially gorgeous during the fall. More lovely fall colors in the city.
