Recently Acquired

Clothing Buys

After a number of months of being on a clothes shopping ban, I recently added a few new pieces to my wardrobe. I took a step back because I didn't really need anything and I decided that I would only add classic, versatile pieces that fill a need in my closet. I think each of these purchases meets that criteria and all three together were less than $100. I actually have some more black clothing now. Yes I realize it's very atypical New Yorker of me to not wear much black.

Other Stories Metallic Silk Blend Blouse
Silk blouses are a staple for me and I love how they can be easily dressed up or down. I was attracted to the shape and cool metallic honeycomb texture of this and the under $30 price tag was pretty attractive too.

Who What Wear x Target Bateau Tee
Striped tops are my weakness and I was attracted to the substantial weight and shoulder detail of this one. There were actually a few things in the Who What Wear for Target collection that caught my eye but this was the only one I felt like I needed since it replaces another striped top that I had to retire because it's seen better days.

J. Crew Contrast Floral Lace Skirt
I've been wearing midi length skirts since before they became popular in recent years and I'm still in a habit of hoarding them because I don't know how long the trend will last. This a-line scalloped lace skirt is both chic and feminine and I can see myself wearing it for many years to come.

Have you added anything new to your closet recently?

I haven't added anything lately, as all I fit at the moment is resembling a tent more than clothing, but I am looking forward to get some stuff once spring is around.

If there's a length of skirt I wear the most, it'll have to be midi skirts just because they're the only things appropriate enough to wear to university here. I'm loving the J Crew one you picked up, Rowena!

I actually had the feeling that you are more into classic and black&white items, but I might have been wrong. The metallic shirt looks interesting, and I think the striped top is a must. Personally I have 2 or 3 in my wardrobe. What really caught my attention is the midi skirt - looks lovely and I'd love to see it on you! Happy Friday, Rowena! xo

I haven't added anything to my closet lately...darn it all! lol...my lack of funds is killing me right now. I ADORE that skirt and the striped tee!! So girly and pretty. Not sure if I could pull off a midi length though. I tend to go for shorter skater skirt styles.

I do like what you added to your closet recently. That silk blouse is so pretty...and it would match that gorgeous lace skirt perfectly...and same goes for that striped tee. All of these items are very classic indeed. You made excellent shopping choices.

I don't have much black in my closet either. I tent to gravitate towards colourful clothes, but never say never...who knows maybe one day I will look like a typical New Yorker.

I haven't purchased a single thing this month! Mostly because of travel and being so busy hehehe. I'm pretty disappointed that I didn't do much shopping while in the US, especially to hit up a J.Crew.

All of them are beautiful and versatile. The lace skirt in midi length is especially lovely; so true, that length is hard to find most days, definitely a good idea to stock up while they're in trend.

Such a smart decision, my dear Rowena! Lately I'm feeling like the more I see in the shops the less I need, if that make sense... haha! That's why I'm loving your minimalist classy, timeless pieces. Love your taste, Rowena!
