Farmacy Skin Dew Hydrating Essence Mist

My serious obsession with skincare probably grew out of my long time love of Korean dramas where everyone has amazing skin. I mean everyone, even the men and the old people. And one of my aspirations is "chok chok" skin. Chok Chok is a Korean term that means moist and it describes a radiant, dewy skin appearance that looks fresh but not oily. This can be achieved through a fastidious skincare routine and one step that I find essential is setting my makeup with a facial spray as well as carrying one around to refresh and keep my skin hydrated during the day. Fact: I actually own more facial mists than nail polishes. I like to have different ones because some work better for certain skincare functions than others. In the winter, mists keep my skin from getting dried out from indoor heating and during the summer, they cool down and revive my skin and keep it from getting greasy. Of course I was intrigued when I found out that Farmacy offered their own version of a facial mist in this Skin Dew Hydrating Essence Mist since I'm already a fan of the brand.

About the Brand: Made with farm grown botanicals, Farmacy Beauty blends age-old wisdom with cutting-edge technologies. The brand has teamed up with local farmers in Upstate New York to create a unique line of irritant-free, bioactive skincare. The scientists and lab behind Farmacy are innovative experts in cosmetic formulation and research, and seek out nature’s most novel yet effective ingredients. Their products are free of parabens, sulfates, phthalates, formaldehyde and artificial coloring and never tested on animals.

Product Claims: Farmacy Skin Dew Hydrating Essence & Setting Spray is a versatile invigorating essence that helps replenish radiance and moisture, while also setting makeup. The vitalizing and energizing mist contains a natural polymer, which acts as a natural humectant, helping attract moisture to the skin and providing hydrating effects for a moist, supple skin surface.

Key Ingredients:  A blend of essential oils, including Rosemary, Bergamot and Peppermint, provides a fresh and energizing aroma while Kiwi Fruit Extract, rich in Vitamin C, Potassium, and Magnesium, protects the skin from the damaging effects of pollution and helps improve the skin’s barrier function. Glycerin acts as a natural humectant, helping attract moisture to the skin and providing hydrating effects for a moist, supple skin surface. As with all other products in the Farmacy line, this hydrating mist is formulated with naturally derived ingredients and features Echinacea GreenEnvy, a unique, patent-protected variant of echinacea purpurea that contains the highest known concentration of cichoric acid, which helps protect the skin.
Packaging: An elegant clear glass bottle with a metal spray.

Price: $44 for 3.3 fl oz / 97 ml

My Impressions: This essence has a minty herbal scent that is both invigorating and soothing at the same time. When sprayed it has a cool refreshing and moisturizing feel on contact. As a setting spray, it imparts a natural looking dewy finish to my cushion compact which is exactly what I'm looking for.  It absorbs readily without any stickiness. I find my makeup generally lasts better with the use of a setting spray and this one performs up to the task. It's nice as a midday hydrator to restore moisture and the fragrance is revitalizing as well. My only gripe with this product would be with the spray mechanism. The metal spray nozzle looks nice and you'd think it'd be quite effective but it's a let down. Instead of a fine all over mist, it sprays out as more of a targeted blast. I usually have to spray this further away from my face to get more of an even dispersal but for the price of this product I don't think I should have to do that. I have facial mists with plastic sprayers that work better. This really detracts from the product because as much as I like the essence, they'd have to replace the spray nozzle to get me to consider a repurchase on this one. The glass bottle is pretty and eco-friendly but not travel friendly. Check out my other Farmacy product reviews.

Farmacy Skin Dew can be purchased through Sephora and the brand's website.

The packaging looks very nice but you are right, if the spray doesn't nicely vaporize all over the face, then it's a turn off. I used a facial mist (make up settler) by Make Up For Ever but I didn't really find it having a lasting or special effect, so I use it rarely.

Too bad it doesn't spray the way it should. Mist sprays are definitely nicer.

I have never used a facial mist, but I remember a post of yours about another brand, which I cannot remember right now. The funny thing is that I saw it at the airport after that, and I thought of you. The bottle of this one looks cute, and even elegant with the metal spray nozzle, but if it is not effective, then I wouldn't purchase it. Thanks for the honest review. Have a nice day, Rowena!xo

Oooooo...that's too bad about the sprayer itself, but the product itself does sound good. I've been using a Cinema Secrets setting spray since forever, but I do feel like I need a new one. Have you tried the Tony Moly sprays? I was looking to those.

PS Fact: The little one and I joke about our chok chok a lot, so I told her to ask her teacher (who's married to a Korean) if she has enough chok chok on her face! The little bugger...she actually did! Aish! :D

Sounds like an amazing product. I'll skip on that one because of the minty herbal scent. Bummer, but I cannot stand the smell. Happy hump day, Rowena.

You're not the only one who seems to have a problem with the nozzle, it seems to be the main complaint about this product. Good to know that it works though.

More face mists than nail-polishes? That's cool...I found that when some specific product works for you, it is good to try a variety of them...and as you say, you can use different ones for different purpuse. Besides, you can use face mists both during warmer and cooler months...and we can't have enought of the good stuff.

This hydrating mist seems great! too bad about the metal spray nuzzle being a let down, but it is great that it gives a natural finish to the skin.

Have a lovely day!

I enjoyed this facial spray/essence review and I don't mind minty fragrance esp outside where pest don't like mint/peppermint smells! I do hope the company fix the spray nozzle to be more effective for spraying this essence!

The spray mechanism must be frustrating, though worth putting up with for a product that performs well! Once again, I'm in love with your crisp and clear photography Rowena - just wonderful :)

I have seriously never been into caring for my skin until recently. I think it has to do with wanting to age gracefully :) I've been using Shiseido and Laneige and I've been loving their water sleeping mask

Rowena, the formula sounds amazing! But I hate when something sprays with such force. It makes no sense. It's suppose to spritz! Other companies have gone wrong when it comes to that type of mechanism also. I loved the samples I received from you for this brand and can't wait to get into their collection of products. Thanks for this beautiful review.

I agree with you Rowena my makeup seems to last a lot longer with setting spray but I haven't found one that works that well on me. I think I will give this a try out. Thanks for the recommendation girl.

Oh, love at first sight, Rowena, for me, the bottle looks so beautiful, and that green colour, I was thinking kiwi before I saw one of the ingredients later... and yes, since you mentioned that you carry mist with you, I was wondering if it may be heavy since it is a glass bottle, but like you said, not travel friendly, right?

It sounded sooooo promising until the end... such a let down on the spray nozzle, right? I do use facial mist. I bought one by Cremorlab some time back, a Korean brand which I love as I put it on my working table and spray it consistently throughout the day if I am at home... but I have just finished it.

Since I was recently gifted with one from Dior, so I am testing this one out for now, but I recently attended another Korean brand, Mamonde media sneak peek, which will be coming to Malaysia real soon in August, their face mist is super gorgeous! I tried it out and it dispenses such fine water droplet that it feels like floating air with a little mix of light refreshing water!

I will have to check that one out when it hits our store here *_^

YEESS!! Please give me CHOK CHOK skin please, like Song Hye Kyo *_^ I know what you mean by loving male Song when it only comes in a bundle with Hye Kyo! haha

I have a vague impression that you did mention your korean crush is a popular comedian but I have not idea what is his name as I am so bad with Korean names *_^

Hope you are gearing up to a lovely new week, Rowena!
