Current Mood

Listening...  to Royal Pirates Hasta La Vista.  So sad this will be their farewell EP and I will miss them.

Reading...  Food Can Fix It by Dr. Oz. If you follow me on Instagram you might know that I attended a party celebrating the launch at Good Housekeeping and got some real life advice from Dr. Oz himself. He also thinks that sugar should be avoided. The whole idea of healing our ailmentst through the food we eat really makes so much sense.

Watching...  baseball. The NY Yankees weren't expected to even be a .500 team much less make the playoffs and now they're challenging the Houston Astros in the America League Championship Series after knocking out the Cleveland Indians who won the most games. Of course we're rooting for them to go all the way but whatever happens this season has been more than encouraging of their future. We've followed the team for the entire season. There's nothing worse than bandwagonner fans who just show up when their team is doing well.

Eating...  forbidden rice. We are a household that likes our rice and last year we made the switch over to brown rice but forbidden rice has even better health benefits and it has a lovely texture and taste as well.

Transitioning...  my skincare and my closet for the cooler weather.

Obsessed...  with this body butter meets scrub bar that leaves my skin super soft and smelling divine.

Finished...  with physical therapy. My ankle is still not quite 100% but it's getting there. I'm now on a home exercise and return to running program.

Not buying...  anything Fenty Beauty. Yeah Rihanna's new makeup line has gotten a lot of hype but it doesn't change the fact that she has been racist against Asians in the past and that's something I can never support. TBH I'm not even interested in hearing about it.

Fascinated...  with this portrait series by photographer Mami Kiyoshi of people surrounded by their belongings.

Can't get enough...  of these squishy cats which are amazing for stress!

Traveled...  to Vegas and back. It was hard not to feel a sense of sadness and confusion in the wake of recent events while we were there. Will post my travel diary soon. I was asked why I didn't post about it when I was away. That's because I don't want to announce to the world that I'm not home and I'd really rather not waste my time.

What's up with you?

I m no follower of Dr. Oz, he only came to my attention through a few questionable interview sentences when speaking to Ivanka Trump that were debated in the medical community. I would love to hear more about his take on Nutrition though.

We all have to do what its best for ourselves just like beauty just because it works for one does not mean it works for other everyone has there own individual needs, but its always a good idea to start eating healthy.

Thanks for the link to that Royal Pirates album, chingu! Listened to the preview and loving all the songs:) And this is the first time I've heard of Forbidden Rice...something good to incorporate in the kitchen for sure.
PS No interest in the whole Fenty thing too but didn't know about the whole Rihanna thing being racist! Imma googling that now!

Ooh Forbidden rice sounds interesting and I'm also a believer in eating well to maintain as well as heal our bodies. I am really curious about Fenty beauty but actually forgot about her racist comments until you brought it up. Not cool and not on board because of that.

Didn't know you met Dr. Oz. I just don't know how to quit sugar. Wish I did, but I can't. I love it too much, lol.

We love rice too so I will look into Forbidden rice and research about it. And wait, what? Rihanna was racist against Asians?! Damn, I had no idea but that makes me sad.

I am listening to (as I write this) someone called Beca on Pandora and sounds like Madonna. That soap scrub sounds really good. Anything withe shea butter is all good in my books.

I do not know if one day I will be able to eliminate the sugar completely of my life, that well that you have been advised by the same Dr. Oz! I did not know that Rihana had discriminated against Asian people, that sounds terrible! I am also publishing out of date, because I like to enjoy and concentrate on the moment, publications can sometimes wait. Happy start of week dear.

The body butter that doubles as a scrub sounds gorgeous - and timesaving, haha! It's really interesting to hear your thoughts on the Fenty Beauty line too; I wasn't planning on picking up anything, but now I've heard you stance on why you won't be purchasing, I'm happy to steer clear completely.

Hope you're having a lovely week so far Rowena!

I really need to cut down my sugar consumption and eat healthier.I haven't tried forbidden rice yet. I need that in my life since we are rice people also in the Philippines.

You know it makes sense about sugar. I've heard that when the body breaks down sugar it can't tell the difference between what type of sugar is consumed. I can tell when I've had too much sugar because I start feeling sluggish lol! Great post Rowena!

I'm trying to cut sugar (esp. refined sugar) out of my diet as much as possible, the more I read about it the more I learn how detrimental it can be to your health. It's tough though because I have such a huge sweet tooth!

I didn't realize Rihanna was racist against Asians in the past, and was actually excited to see her release a makeup line that was inclusive of all skin tones, so this definitely puts a damper in the excitement. Luckily there's nothing I really loved from her line to begin with, so no loss there!

I can't wait to hear about your adventures in Vegas Rowena. It's been several years since I went. It was very sad about the recent events there. I didn't know that about Rihanna! How horrible! I've read a number of reviews and her makeup doesn't agree with dry skin, so I avoided anyway. LOL I hope your ankle makes a full recovery. I twisted mine this weekend, so I've been taking it easy. Not a good feeling.
