Through My Lens : On Instagram

Instagram Photos

A few highlights from the past month as seen on Instagram which serves as my unofficial food diary and love letter to NYC. I also post quick reviews here and there. I generally try to keep the content unique so it's not just a bunch of photos from here. You can see more on Instagram and do follow if you like what you see...

So my Instagram posts have been infrequent for awhile now which is ironic since I've been taking more photos than ever.  I've actually been trying to reconcile how I want to use the platform. It started out mainly as a source for photographic inspiration which has gotten away from me and I need to get back on track. I started working on a few personal photo projects at the beginning of the year and want to be more experimental with my photography again.

  • Snow as seen from a different perspective.
  • Sugarfish has great sushi and the coolest takeout packaging! Get a look inside the restaurant.
  • The first snow in NYC. The dichotomy of fall juxtaposed with winter in this scene was pretty interesting.
  • Celebrated the husband's birthday at Cote Korean Steakhouse. Their beef was the New York Times Critic’s Pick for “the best at any Korean barbecue place in New York."  The hype is real!
  • Taken on a very early Saturday morning, this shows how NYC can take on an almost eerie feeling when there is no one on the streets.
  • Been taking these Instytutum Flawless Inner Beauty Ageless Complex supplements for a month now.  I feel like my skin has been a little clearer and more supple but that could also be due to daily sheet mask use.
  • It was so cold here that the lakes in Central Park froze over. TimeOut NY featured this photo on their feed this week!
  • Been loving candles to up the cozy factor at home and this Bijou candle which has the most relaxing harmony of lavender and chamomile scents has been a big favorite especially at night before bed.
  • Now that I'm using a compact camera again, I'm getting back into street photography.

Morning Rowena! I actually feel the same regarding the social and this kind of post, you made me think of it once more. Btw, your photos made me smile everytime I see them, NYC is just stunning, the frozen lake in Central Park is just mesmerizing, like from a fairy tale. Yay for your street style photography, looking forward to see more of them! Happy weekend! xo

I'm almost done with the Instytutum Flawless Supplements and to be honest, I didn't notice anything special with my skin. :-(

Yeah I think a lot of people have been rethinking Instagram. New York is pretty when it snows specially Brooklyn and oh yeah all about the candles in the winter.

I love that you share different photos on your Instagram versus here on the blog. It's something I'd like to do as well, but most of the time I end up getting lazy, lol. I just finished my Instytutum supplements today and other than the increase in energy I haven't noticed much of a difference in my skin.

These are lovely Rowena. I love the juxtaposed Fall and Winter image so much. I'm not super thrilled about all the changes on Instagram. Makes it feel too much like Facebook. Enjoy your weekend.

I've just started getting back into Instagram again. So far I've managed to post a new photo every day (for the last four days looooool!). I've been using Planoly to help me out. It helps you see a general aesthetic and plan out posts. It is only early days yet but it's been great. I have so many photos on my phone I want to share, mostly from my trip last year so this app is really helping me sort through them all.

Lovely photos! The winter on photo number 3 looks amazing, I wish that we had such winter instead of 1 day of snow and many days of rain or storms.
