It is so easy to get swept up in things you don't really like or need, and it is so silly and a waste of time and money. I am trying to be more mindful about this in all aspects of my life. I am moving this spring and am using that as an opportunity to declutter and start fresh. I can understand why you choose to keep your private life private, to some extent I like to do the same (travels are fine, but nothing too close to home or my personal life). So, good for you for implementing these changes. I started last year regularly doing a digital detox sometimes weekly/monthly and many have noticed. The books have graphic scenes too, but the TV series focused too much on them- and it is hard to follow as it is with all the characters and everything. I like the books because I think they're good parallel with medieval European poetry ( I believe they are partly based on the War of Roses) and Martin is actually a decent writer.

Anyway, perhaps this series's been over hyped...it is a good example to use, because people often end up watching things (or doing things) they don't genuinely enjoy- and why should we do that when there are so many other interesting thing we could be doing? You're right in that we can apply this quality over quantity rule even when it comes to choosing what we will watch. I think we should watch only those shows and movies we really like. Often people just stare at screen for the sake of it- and today when most of us could use a few more hours of sleep, spa time or whatever, we should be extra selective of what we dedicate our time too. I think TV and movies can be very educational if we choose them wisely. Naturally, not everything we watch needs to be educational, sometimes we will watch something because we love it or because it relaxes us, a comfort food of the sort but what I wanted to say is that everything can serve a purpose- we just need to figure it out for ourselves.

Digital dotox is something we can all use! I think that constantly being on social media can one feel quite socially isolated- it is a paradox. I'm not against social media- obviously, since I blog and all that- but I do believe we should be careful how we use them. People share all kinds of things and it is sooo important to be comfortable with what we share. There is this pressure to share everything and not everyone feels comfortable with that....I for example don't particularly enjoy taking and sharing selfies, so I don't do that. It is good that you choose to do a digital detox on the weekends. Perhaps I should try that too.

I know what you mean when you say that Instagram accounts that exist only for purpose of promoting the blog feel empty. It is a bit boring when the content on the blog and Instagram is identical. However, I must admit that my twitter account is exactly like that, I only opened it recently and I have no idea what to do with it, I just post photos and links to my blog, I know it is lame but I don't have the energy to be active on yet another platform. Well, at least I don't expect anyone to follow my twitter account. :)

Quality over quantity is so important in food. I tend to like healthy food and I like cooking so I don't plan to make much changes in that department, but I think I could benefit from more exercise...again, quality is what matters. I believe that our exercise regime should be in accordance with our needs. It should be there to relax, not to stress us. I started with clothes and shoes. When I re-did my home, I definitely adopted a less is more attitude. There's very little in each room and everything has a place. The busiest room is my makeup room, but I've created a place for everything. I still have to read those two books you and Emmy suggested. Several years ago I started deleting people out of my life. Both personally and on the blog. Some were not who they betrayed themselves to be. Others never had anything positive to say. There was one girl I gave a lot to and when I wrote her about a problem that bothered me in my life, she ignored it. It really hurt me and I left that "friendship". She resorted talking about me on social media, YET posted gifts I gave her on instagram (praising them, but of course not mentioning my name). I've found out about a number of bloggers. I keep a small list now of bloggers I communicate with. I continue to give (that hasn't stopped), but I don't get very close to people anymore. So that is why I cherish you. You've always been the same. I so agree with everything that you wrote, especially now since I have actually began my KonMari journey. It's almost scary how many things we have that we find attachment to, even when they bring now joy (ie. that$20 shoes we got in a bargain bin that tore apart after two wears, etc.) Now, I just really have to focus on better eating, esp. for the kiddos. Not an easy task coz they do love their junk food, but I've got to try:P
And I've stopped using Facebook for a long time, and let me tell you, I don't think I've missed anything. All I saw there were crazy updates about the minute details of people's lives!!!! Wut da hek?!?!?!

Oh my gosh! Had to google LJS after I read your comment....LMAO. That "speech" when he got the Daesang Award....I can't even. He looked like such a a$$hole for sure, and so different from the sincere speeches of PBG and SJK.
That scene in Minimalism when the guy read from the book did kinda make me LOL a bit, but what I really loved about that documentary is the interview with the other minimalists like that lady who did Project 333. I might start that this year...fingers crossed. And yay for Signal 2! Is it the same cast? So excited now too!
And I just saw half of ep.1 of It's Ok That's Love. It seems ok so far, but I think it's just because I love the leads:D I hope I do end up liking it.
Happy Friday, and have a great weekend!Emmylouhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02527008933557848354noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7008249764191962870.post-28858115829700766952017-01-06T08:53:20.764-05:002017-01-06T08:53:20.764-05:00Happy Friday, Rowena! :)
