Dine Out : Snack

Snack Restaurant New York, Snack, Snack Soho, Snack New York, Snack Review

If you happen to walk too quickly, you might just pass by Snack without ever noticing it. The tiny cafe that serves rustic style Greek food with a contemporary spin is located just west of West Broadway on Thompson Street in Soho. The quaint space can only be described as cozy as it has very limited seating but rather than confining, it actually feels quite homey. I'm a big fan of their sandwiches and I'm not really a sandwich person. We usually get the lamb and the tuna and I'd have a tough time choosing a favorite between the two. The lamb is braised and served with tomatoes, roasted red onions, roasted tomato aioli and arugula on ciabatta bread. The herb braised yellowfin tuna is served with artichokes, tomatoes, cucumbers, portobello mushrooms, scallions, shaved kefalotiri cheese in a lemon vinaigrette on ciabatta bread. The lamb is hearty and comforting while the tuna is refreshing and satisfying. Both are bursting with fresh and delicious flavor. Their spanakopita (spinach pie) is quite tasty as well. I've had a consistently positive experience with their service which is friendly and relaxed. This is the perfect spot to stop for a rest if you happen to be shopping in the area and if it's summer make sure you get the mint lemonade. I should mention that Snack has a variety of vegetarian options on their menu and they also serve dinner which I'd love to drop in to try one of these days.

Are you a fan of Greek/Mediterranean cuisine?

I am going to look out for this when I'm in NYC in a couple of months!

That is the tiniest sign I've ever seen. You're right it's hard to see if you aren't looking. I haven't had too much Greek food because around here there's a lot of meat in it, but what I have had I have enjoyed.

Morning Rowena! Yes, of course I am! And while I was reading your experience, I was watering too, since is almost lunch time here. Im a sandwich lover, though Im vegetarian, your choices seems very appetizing, especially the tune one. If ever happens to visit NYC (and I want so bad!), I would like to go there for sure. Have a wonderful week ahead dear, hugs! xo

Both sandwiches sound phenomenal! I love Greek food and was bummed when I was avoiding feta a few months ago. I'll definitely put this place on my (ever long) list of NYC restaurants to try!

Oh yes, I am a big fan! It's one of the most delicious and healthy cuisines in Europe. I am also very happy that Bulgarian cuisine is a mix of a Bulgarian, Greek and Turkish. That place looks cozy and the food looks really delicious! It's really nice to find a place to fall in love with!

I love the way you write a review w/o sounding like a review at all. More like a friend personally telling us something great about this cafe. For sure other than your beautiful description, the photos are a good attest to the fact. I seldom eat Greek or Mediterranean food coz we do not have much of them around here.

On your post about shoes. Oh my, it is so difficult for me to find a good pain of ballerina flats ever since I sprained my foot. All ballerina shoes would slip out on me no matter the size or give me blisters at the back of my feet. I recently thought I found my holy grail in Butterfly Twists only to feel that they are too flat w/o much support after wearing them for a while. Still on the look out for the perfect flats.
