As much as I enjoy luxury skincare, I've also been making an active effort to discover and support more independent natural beauty brands particularly ones that are owned by women because that's something that's important to me. A licensed medical esthetician, Alana Mitchell launched Alana Mitchell Skincare with a mission to make safe and effective products that deliver real results. The formulations are a fusion of scientific ingredients and the finest natural and organic ingredients on the market and the products are free of artificial fragrances and parabens and not tested on animals.
Alana Mitchell Night R1 Retinol Facial Oil
(0.5oz // $49)
Made with retinol (Retinol Palmitate Vitamin A) and Coenzyme Q10, Alana Mitchell Night R1 Facial Oil hydrates and works to reduce the signs of aging while you sleep. The all-natural formula is easily absorbed for a moisturized, glowing complexion without any flaking, redness, or peeling like traditional retinol products. This product is meant to be used in the evening following cleansing. It can be topped off with a moisturizer of necessary.
Ingredients
*Rosehip Seed Oil, *Capric/Caprylic Triglyceride (Coconut Oil), *Jojoba Oil, *Avocado Oil, Flax Seed Oil, *Rice Bran Oil, Ubiquinone (Coenzyme Q10), *Passionfruit Oil, *Moroccan Argan Oil, Retinol Palmitate (Vit. A), *Tocopherol (Vit. E), *Tangerine Essential Oil, *Helichrysum (Immortelle) Essential Oil, *Ylang Ylang Essential Oil. *organic
This facial oil is packaged in an amber glass bottle with a dropper to dispense the product. The oil has a clear orange appearance with a faint citrus scent. The texture is smooth with a lightweight feel. Unlike some oils that sit on top of your skin, this one absorbs readily upon application. A little goes a long way and three drops are usually enough for my entire face. While it provides a good dose of moisture, depending on how my skin feels, I sometimes do apply a moisturizer over it. While I don't think the retinol is as potent as it is in some others I've used, this facial oil packs the benefits of retinol without any of the irritation and the hydration is nice as well. Since I've been using this product, my skin has taken on a brighter appearance with my pores looking more refined.
Alana Mitchell Quick Comeback Masque
(1 pack // $12.90 | 2 pack // $20)
Alana Mitchell Quick Comeback Masque is an innovative treatment product that harnesses the power of hydrolyzed collagen to deliver immediate firming and smoothing to the skin in just 15 minutes. This all in one masque is perfect as a pick me up while traveling or before a big event. To use, just push the top to activate and release the liquid into the lower chamber. The cotton pillow will dissolve, creating a gel masque which you can apply to your face using your fingers or a brush. Leave on on for 15-20 minutes and rinse off with warm water.
Ingredients
Water, Cladosiphon Okamuranus Extract, Vitis Vinifera Extract, Propylene Glycol, Leuconostoc/Radish Root Ferment Filtrate, Butylene Glycol, Hydrolyzed Collagen, Tocopherol, Glycosyl Trehalose, Sodium Hyaluronate, Polyvinyl Alcohol, Polyglutamic Acid, Trehalose, Beta-Glucan
First off I really like how this is packaged as a single use treatment and how it doesn't get activated until you're ready to use it. I pressed the top down per the directions and the liquid dropped down over the cotton pillow. It didn't immediately dissolve and actually took a few minutes. The masque is a clear with a sticky gel-like consistency and easy to apply. I personally found that the stickiness made it a tad difficult to remove and required a lot of vigorous and continuous rinsing to completely get off. But at least there was a payoff as immediately after using it, my skin felt refreshed and revitalized while looking smoother and plumped. Just for that I can see why this would be ideal to use before a big event but because it was such a hassle to wash off, I couldn't see myself using this masque on the regular.
Alana Mitchell 4-in-1 Cleansing Pod
(2 pack // $11.90 | 4 pack // $21.42)
Alana Mitchell 4-in-1 Cleansing Pod is a unique multi-functional product that is ideal for all skin types, but especially beneficial for oily and combination skin. This all in one sponge, facial cleanser, facial mask, and exfoliator in the form of a textured sponge works to gently slough away dirt, leftover makeup, and dead skin cells to reveal a clean, glowing complexion. To use, dampen the sponge and squeeze to activate the foaming cleanser and using circular motions, rub gently on skin and rinse. Leave the foaming cleanser on skin for an additional 10 minutes for a deluxe purifying and brightening mask treatment. Each pod can be used 2 - 5 times once a day or every other day.
Ingredients
Water, Glycerine, Myristic Acid, Stearic Acid, Kaolin, Lauric Acid, Cocamidopropyl Betaine, Hydroxyethyl Urea, Beeswax, Polyquaternium-51, Potassium Hydroxide, Tea-Cocoyl Glutamate, Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice, Hydroxypropyl Starch Phosphate, Phenoxyethanol, Ethylhexylglycerin, Disodium EDTA, Phytosteryl/Octyldodecyl Lauroyl Glutamate, Tocopheryl Acetate, Perfume, Sodium Hyaluronate
I mostly used this cleansing pod as a second cleanse following my oil cleanser to remove my makeup in the evening. The sponge has a soft yet lightly exfoliating feel. It foams up to a mild frothy lather that is fragrance-free and rinses away clean without leaving my face feeling dry or tight. I also tried it as a masque treatment which provides more of a deep cleansing experience but it was also more drying so I wouldn't recommend that usage for dry skin types. I managed to get four uses out of each pod. It's nice that everything is self contained and I would love to get some of these for the next time I travel.
Overall I was impressed with the Alana Mitchell Skincare products which I tried for the way they combine quality natural ingredients and innovation and how they work as they claim. The retinol oil is my favorite.for it's efficacy and moisturizing delivery system. Alana Mitchell Skincare products can be purchased through Amazon as well as the Skincare by Alana website which also carries a range of other personal care and skin care products that have been researched and assured for quality.

Interesting beauty products. We keep in touch. xx
I think pods have have become more streamlined now and its so innovative and interesting. I had a similar one but have not had the reusable pods. I have not tried these facial cleansing ones though and I'd like to. Thanks for sharing. Happy Monday to you Rowena!
I am a fan of facial oils. Everything looks great. Thanks for sharing.
I need to add some new skin care products to my routine now that the weather has changed. These all sound excellent and I think lower retinol is good, as I hear mixed things about how good retinol is for your skin. But I do need a pick me up. And all about oils in winter.
