Like how is it August already?

Reading...
I picked this as a light summer read and this  enemies-to-lovers romance is fun and entertaining. Every time I think I know what's going to happen, I'm thrown for a loop. Apparently author Ana Huang has written a whole Twisted series.

Watched...
This movie is a followup to the 2019 -2020 Taiwanese drama series of the same name which I loved. Like the show, the movie features the same elements of romance, time travel, thriller and suspense with plenty of twists and turns. We liked it but the series was able to cover a lot more. I don't think you have to watch the show to watch the show to watch this but this movie felt like it was made for fans of the series.

Rewatching...
Watching the movie made us nostalgic for the drama so we're rewatching it. The plot revolves a woman who grieves and misses her deceased boyfriend. She receives a mysterious package with a walkman and cassette. She falls asleep listening to it and wakes up in the body of a high school girl in 1986. This girl has a classmate who looks exactly like her late boyfriend. This drama really holds up and is honestly even better on the second viewing because there were certain details that I don't think I noticed the first time around. It was highly rated and critically acclaimed for a reason. The acting is stellar all around but especially from the leads Alice Ke and Greg Hsu. I may have a crush on Greg Hsu all over again. The soundtrack also rocks!

Listening to....
Been really enjoying the jazz influenced jams of Taiwanese pop rock group Sunset Rollercoaster lately. Most their songs are in English and their music is so great to have on when I'm working. Coffee's On Me is a particular standout that has become my summer anthem. I'll leave it here.

Eating...
I'm a big fan of chickpeas as a source of protein so this salad which combines chickpeas with a colorful array of vegetables and tangy dijon vinaigrette is totally up my alley. It's become a favorite since it's simple to make, healthy and satisfying. I also really like how easy it is to change up. I like to add spinach or arugula to up the greens and I also like to add feta and quinoa to boost the protein. I think it would also be tasty with tuna subbing in for the chickpeas.

Getting To Know...
To celebrate their Target launch, Athena Club sent me a selection of some of their most popular products which I've been trying out. I've become a big fan of their innovative razor that features five cushioned blades, an aluminum handle coated with non-slip silicone, and a moisturizing hyaluronic acid serum strip to prevent bumps and irritation. It's even better paired with their Cloud Shave Foam which gives a super close shave that leaves my skin soft and smooth. I'm also a fan of their Dewy Body Lotion (the grapefruit scent is TDF!) and Creamy Body Wash. Their products are thoughtfully and sustainably formulated without any harsh chemicals, dyes, or additives which gets a big thumbs up from me.

Using...
I always have certain personal hygiene items like hand sanitizer, facial wipes and body wipes in my home emergency kit. Alcala San Diego is a small business that recently sent me some of their body wipes to try. Turns out Alcala Deodorizing Body Wipes have become an essential item while I've been in physical therapy this summer. Because they're individually packaged, they're easy to carry in my bag and they make it easy to freshen up when I'm away from home. I really like how they're biodegradable, sustainably produced with natural, eco-friendly and skin friendly ingredients.

Loving our...
We love our Airfree Iris 3000 Filterless Air Purifier and have been gotten so much use out of it since we got it during the pandemic. With wildfire smoke becoming a real issue in NYC these past few months and looking to be a continuing problem, we decided to move this into our bedroom and get a new air purifier for our living room. I chose this one both for it's features and aesthetics. It's quite and works well. Most importantly I like the peace of mind that the 24/7 pollution monitor offers. There is growing evidence that links wildfire smoke exposure to various health threats including an increase in the risk of both cardiovascular- and respiratory related issues. Highly recommend!

Hey Rowena, I hope everything is going well! How's August in NY so far? Thanks a lot for your latest comment on my newest blog article :) You always light up my day and motivate me to keep creating :)

And talking about the moodboard of this week, you always manage to surprise me by adding many different details for every taste :) But at the same time everything looks really well curated and with the same personality.

The Twisted Hate book sounds appealing, specially for these summer days when you want to read something fun.

And thanks for the recommendation of Sunset Rollercoaster, at least the name, the image and the description sounds good so adding to my "to listen" spotify playlist right away ;)

Chickpead salad.... oh my god, probably my favorite kind of salad and it is my option to go when I don't want to cook a lot ;) Check on Google "Trampó mallorquín with garbanzos" it is a mediterranean dish that we eat a lot during summer here :)

Take care and have a lovely weekend friend!

I heard about all the wildfire smoke. I'm glad that the air purifier has been good for you. We have a couple in our home and it has been a godsend, especially with my allergies. I will have to check out the Alcala wipes, as I love keeping an emergency kit in my travel and gym bag. Happy new week, Rowena.

Ive been meaning to eat chick peas as I know it's super good for you but I haven't had the chance to implement it in my diet (although my hubby does eat it quite a lot for his lunches). This salad sounds like a great way to start eating them! And Ana Huang's books are all in KU and they've been on my TBR list for awhile. I really want to start this series, and the new one she has (King of Pride series I think it's called).
