This is the summer of living sustainably and as well as continuing to sell and give away my things, Aside from not shopping, I've been embracing shopping my own closet and rediscovering old favorites. Getting a lot of wear is a 17 year old striped tank top along with a pair of chambray pants that I got from the kids department ages ago - size XXL baby! The wide leg silhouette still feels so fresh and modern. Love that my current faves have been with me for so long. Not watching baseball anymore has freed up so much time for getting out more, trying new recipes and watching Asian dramas and movies. Oh I have conquered the 2 minute plank and am now aiming for 3 minutes.
Reading...
I'd been meaning to read this book for awhile now. The big appeal to me is the way it challenges conventional self-help advice with the assertion that relentless positivity is neither practical nor helpful. Instead, author Mark Manson emphasizes embracing life’s difficulties and limitations to find meaning and personal growth. This deeply resonates with me especially as I find too many people operate from a place of toxic positivity where they avoid the truth and lack self awareness. I'm trying not to be like that. I appreciate the blunt and humorous writing style and how he uses personal anecdotes, philosophical insights, and research to make his points more engaging and memorable.
Finished Watching....
Based on a web nove of the same name, the Legend of the Kitchen Soldier is a military comedy-fantasy series about a young soldier who rises to fame as a legendary army cook while uncovering hidden secrets. per. Through food and interactions inside the barracks, Kang Seong Jae begins helping people around him emotionally, while slowly overcoming his own fears and insecurities. This drama struck a nice balance between emotional moments and warm humor, making it a comforting and entertaining watch. The entire cast led by Park Ji Hoon of Weak Hero Class fame is solid. I've been recommending this one to everyone.

The premise of this show is built on a specific kind of quiet tension: a man known as Manager Kim who lives a quiet life as an office worker while also raising a teenage daughter as a single dad. When his daughter goes missing, he must refer to his former North–South Korean covert operative past to find her.
The series blends high-stakes espionage with the emotional stakes of a father–daughter relationship. The action is top notch but there is also humor supplied by the two former operatives he teams up with to find his daughter. We will miss this when it ends this week.
Eating...
Cooked Vegetables
If you live you in the US, you might be aware of a cyclosporiasis outbreak or maybe not. Anyway this is an intestinal illness caused by a microscopic parasite that spreads through the ingestion of contaminated food. It has been linked to various fresh produce, including lettuce, salad greens, raspberries, cilantro, basil, and snow peas. It sounds awful so I'm being hyper vigilant and avoiding all of these and more. Actually I'm avoiding all raw vegetables and certain fruits for now. I do miss my berries though and plan on getting some at the local farmers market soon. Luckily there are so many tasty Chinese greens in season now like red amaranth, Chinese water spinach, yam leaves and pea shoot leaves, all of which we love. Best and easiest preparation is to sautè them with garlic and fermented bean curd. And I'm still roasting my other veggies like broccoli, cauliflower and cabbage and serving it with my trusty miso tahini sauce which is just miso, tahini and ACV - so delicious and gut friendly!
Drinking...
Heytea is a Chinese tea beverage chain famous for their innovative and modern tea drinks that we have become quite fond of. My usual order is a Matcha Jasmine Latte with no ice and no sugar. I love how Chinese tea places offer the no ice option since I don't ever use ice in my drinks. It's a Chinese practice that is very beneficial for digestion.
Training with..
Feeling like I hit a plateau with my strength training regimen, I locked into a new routine with Caroline Girvan's Iron Series - a six week resistance training series with workouts designed to challenge the main muscle groups three times per week. I'm really into the focus on hypertrophy training to add muscle as that remains a goal of mine. This series is definitely challenging but it's exactly what I need to kick my fitness routine into the next level.
Wearing
I was impressed with Oncept's ethos built around elevated essentials for everyday movement as well as their sneakers which prioritize sustainability, comfort and longevity in their usage of eco-conscious materials and ethical production channels. This hybrid sneaker has a retro design enhanced with a modern twist that is both fashion and function forward. I love how lightweight and comfortable they feel as well as how they can be styled with a variety of outfits.
Visiting...
New York Museums
Summer in the city means visiting local museums and galleries. Meg Webster's "Thicket" at the Paula Cooper Gallery was a highlight. The Iris van Herpen retrospective at the Brooklyn Museum was a wonder. I'm planning a full post on it. Of course The Met is always good. Really psyched about the new location of the Costume Institute on the first floor as well as the Costume Art exhibition, Lillian Bassman, and Giacometti in the Temple of Dendur. We will be going to Clinamen at the Park Avenue Armory this weekend.

I’m following your sustainability model for summer. Those shoes have me intrigued. Happy Friday. I love a good museum outing.
Great post. I really like it. I especially like the whole paragraph about Mark Manson, and I’m taking that point on board as food for thought.
I heart about The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F* but I thought it was just another self-help book, but with a more edgy title and a bit more of genera edginess. Reading your review, I see that is actually much more than that, and now I'm intrigued.
The Legend of the Kitchen soldier sounds like a great watch! History, fantasy and cuisine...what is there not to love!
I'm sorry to hear about the potential health hazard, it is good you're being so careful. On the upper side, eating boiled and cooked veggies is always healthy. I heard that boiled salad is very healthy too, and it makes us sleep better.
I love that Summer in the city means visiting museums for you...are they less crowded in the Summer? I like how in Summer you sometimes feel like you almost have the city to yourself. There is that time when most people escape it:) Anyhow, I also like visiting museums in the Summer. I'm always up for being a tourist in your home town/country as well. :)
P.S. I live by the no ice in the drink rule, too. Cold drinks can cause real health problems.
P.S.S. Kudos for being so proactive about exercise. I work out but probably not enough. I need to step up my work out game! After 30, we start losing our muscle mass and we need to work harder to maintain it.
Congrats on the two-minute plank! I need to work on that. Goals! Looking forward to your report on the Iris van Herpen retrospective. It's on my list to see.
