Essio Aromatherapy Shower Kit Review

Aromatherapy in the Shower

I recently purchased a set of essential oils as I'd been curious about their benefits for general wellness. Numerous studies have shown that the use of essentials oils can improve stress levels and produce calming effects for users. In addition they can provide a positive effect skin tone as well as the immune and circulatory systems. So I was definitely interested when Essio contacted me to try out their Essio Aromatherapy Shower Kit which claims to transform your everyday shower into a personal spa by creating an innovative aromatherapy experience with essential oils.

Aromatherapy in the Shower

This starter kit comes with a shower arm device and three pure essential oil blends which are 100% USDA certified organic with no synthetic additives or parabens.

Breathe is a refreshing an aromatic blend of peppermint and eucalyptus that clears your sinuses and decreases congestion while soothing and stimulating your entire body.

Passion is a synergistic blend of mandarin orange, lavender and patchouli that excites and arouse the mind and senses.

Unwind is a restorative blend combining citrus with a veneer of spice and floral tones to create peace and promote instant stress relief.

Aromatherapy in the Shower

The attachment is very easy to install. You literally just clip it on to your shower pipe, pop in a fragrance pod and it's ready to use. I was somewhat concerned about the oil getting all over but it does not pour out and is rather slowly diffused for the duration of your shower. It's strictly an aromatherapy experience that leaves behind no mess or residue.

Since I shower at night, I like it to be relaxing and I found that a shower experience with this is almost as relaxing as taking a bath. Unwind was my favorite scent as it was very soothing and refreshing at the same time. Breath was quite invigorating and does indeed clear the sinuses. This one would be so helpful if one had a cold. I wasn't all that crazy about Passion. It's a spicy blend that was almost too overpowering for my taste plus I kept getting notes of cinnamon which I'm not crazy about in the context of a bathroom. Overall I liked it and I think this is a pleasant and effortless way to enhance your shower with the benefits of aromatherapy. It could be a little costly to use daily but I can see using it once or twice a week or for a pick me up after an especially tiring day. Each pod is supposed to last for 4 -5 showers but you can get more out of it by tilting the device to conserve the product halfway through your shower. I made sure to flip the pod upright after each use as well. I did wish the pod caps were a little easier to get on and off when switching between oils. A nice benefit is that the scent does linger in your bathroom after your shower.

This is a green product made from fully recyclable materials. Essio maintains a position of sustainability and the company also plants a tree for every product it ships through Plant-a-tree-today-org.

The Essio Aromatherapy Shower Kit sells for $44.99 and is available through the company's website and Amazon. Pod refills are $19.99 for a pack of four and there are six blends available in total including one called Clear that I'm interested in trying as it helps to center your mind and body for better focus.

You can see how it works in this video. Essio wants to give five lucky people a chance to try this kit for themselves. You have until 9/25/14 to enter their giveaway!

Do you use essential oils or aromatherapy? How has it worked for you?

I love the idea of this - I use to be huge into aromatherapy - mostly as a relaxer... It's amazing how strong our sense of smell is.

I have used essential oils both at home and when I've had a masage at a spa. This is a clever idea to turn the shower into a kind of spa. I'll take a look at the video!

This is such a smart idea. My mom loves essential oils, and if she had this thing I'm sure she would never get out the shower, haha. I'll check out the giveaway :)

I'm a big fan of aromatherapy, Rowena, and actually even thought of doing a course in it awhile back. I think it works, and I use essential oils a lot on the kids too. Better and safer than meds:)

I have heard some really great things about essential oils as well. I would think that using this even at least once a week would be a great way to start your day!

Interesting concept here - i've never been one for using oils, but misting in the shower is something i'd consider. Breathe sounds great to have on hand when you have a cold! thanks for the introduction :)

This sounds great, and it's good to know that it actually does what it claims to do! You're right, though, that almost $50 for the shower attachment is a bit steep, and also $20 for the oils. But if the benefits are as good as described, then the kit would be worth it to use every now and then.

Sounds great. I do use essential oils a lot..on pillows, shower and pretty much for anything I can think of ( I use it even on plants to ward off insects). I love using eucalyptus when I feel stuffed from cold.. I basically spray the oil all over in the shower and the hot water makes you feel so relaxed and clear. I personally love the flexibility of using sprays and avoid too many gizmos but wouldn't mind trying this product. Very good review! :)

What an interesting product! It makes sense to incorporate aromatherapy in the shower since hardly anyone has time for a bath. I hope you are enjoying the cooler weather dear!

I have to say that when I clicked on the Bloglovin' thumbnail for this, I was all 'meh' about this since I thought this post was about bath oils, but IT'S NOT!!! Honestly, this is one effing brilliant idea (I think so anyways), since baths are so costly in terms of water and time waste. This shower kit is like, best of both worlds--you get the efficiency of a shower with the aromatherapy of a bath. BRILLIANT, TBH.

I could so use this. I need something to help me relax! And my teenage daughter would absolutely love it...she works at a health food store and is very into essential oils. I'm bookmarking this. So glad I saw it here!

I wouldn't ever think of purchasing something like this but it seems interesting. I don't think I would like the passion scent either as I don't like patchouli or lavender scents, but the other two sound like they would smell good.
