Rena & Ian : Relaxing at Home

September 21, 2012
On Rena: Dress: Unbranded from eBay // Shoes: Barbie Model Muse
On Ian: Shirt: Twilight Edward doll // Pants: Ken // 1:16 scale watch

Even if they're just chilling on the couch at home, Rena still believes in dressing fabulously down to her shoes. I found this pretty dress on eBay for $1.99. Some of you might recognize the couch from this previous photo of Rena enjoying some Pierre Hermé macarons. It's Jonathan Adler for Barbie as are the side table and vases. Let's just say that Ian defers the decorating decisions to Rena.

I won't be blogging next week since I'll be away visiting my friends Mickey and Minnie at Disney World. The odd nature of my vertigo actually has me feeling better when I'm in motion so I'm looking forward to the rides. Have a splendid weekend/week my lovelies and I'll catch up with you all when I return.

Style Wise : J. Crew Spring 2013 RTW Collection

September 18, 2012

I am totally loving and coveting so many looks from the J. Crew Spring 2013 RTW collection. The line's mix of charming prints, punchy and pastel colors, embroidery and brocade make for some really wearable pieces in my book. And I'm such a fan of their eclectic pattern mixing and signature tomboy meets feminine chic styling. While it's fun to swoon over all the luxurious designer collections, I also like to see what might realistically be making it into my closet come next Spring. These are some of my favorite looks. The rest can be viewed here. What did you think of this collection?

Beauty : Mary Jo Matsumoto 4Free Nail Color

September 13, 2012

I've been wearing Mary Jo Matsumoto's Naked State of Mind nail varnish for a good part of the past month and I'm in love. It's like the prettiest pearly pinkish nude shade. That's it on the right. The formulation is 4FREE which means that it doesn't contain any formaldehyde, dibutyl phthalate, toluene or camphor. I noticed that it doesn't have the strong foul chemical smell of most nail polishes and was impressed with how smoothly and evenly it applied and more importantly the long wear. This polish remained chip-free for over a week and lasted almost 2 weeks which is major for me. I'm quite excited about the new colors that Mary Jo has released for the fall.

The Caffeine Addiction 4FREE Trio which comes in delicious shades of Vanilla Latte Gratification, Coffee Addiction and Mood Altering Mocha will satisfy any neutral lover without the caffeine side effects.

The Laguna Libertine 4FREE collection features three fashion forward colors including Scandalous Lover - a chic wearable red, Bon Mots - a glamourous shimmery gold and Wilde Blue Yonder - a sophisticated shade of cobalt dedicated to Oscar Wilde.

For those of you not familiar with Mary Jo Matsumoto, she is a fabulously talented designer and a pretty cool lady as well. I would probably say that even if she wasn't a friend. Her blog Trust Your Style is full of stylish inspiration. These lovelies and more are available for sale at her online shop. And I should mention that they do ship worldwide. While you're there, make sure you also check out her luxurious line of handbags, totes and clutches. You can thank me later.

The Sartorialist Exhibit in New York

September 11, 2012

This past Saturday before the weather got ugly, we popped over to Chelsea, had lunch at Old Homestead and then walked the High Line over to check out The Sartorialist exhibit at the Danziger Gallery. The show which is running in tandem with NYFW features images from Scott Schuman's new book The Sartorialist: Closer. His blog on which he documents fashionable street style was the first of it's kind back when he started it and still remains one of the best in the genre. I've always enjoyed his work because the photos are just as much stylish portraits of the subject rather than just a mere record of what that person is wearing. The first two images are my favorites and the one on the left also appears on the book's cover. You might spot some familiar faces in the rest of the selection. Are you a fan of The Sartorialist?

Style Crush : Keira Knightley

September 7, 2012

Keira Knightley was a vision of loveliness at the London premiere for her new film Anna Karenina earlier this week. The actress who is the face of Coco Mademoiselle arrived in a frothy pale peach Chanel Fall 2012 Couture floor length gown cinched with a metallic belt. I like how the delicate sheer sleeves and softness of the pretty floral embellishments strike up a contrast against the structure of the dress. Her minimal accessories included diamond earrings and a bracelet also from Chanel. The elegant red carpet look was completed with a face framing loose french twist and romantic makeup consisting of smoky eyes, peachy blush and a nude pink lip. Coincidentally this looks like it's actually the same dress that Zhou Xun wore in Elle recently. It's really been awhile since my last style crush.

Eye Candy : Lee Seung Gi for InStyle

September 5, 2012

I make no secret of the fact that I kind of adore Lee Seung Gi. 1 Night 2 Days might be responsible for that. While someone like Daniel Henney may be really handsome, there's a certain charm about a humble multi-talented boy next door who just happens to possess impeccable manners and an international business degree. This InStyle Korea pictorial photographed in Hong Kong features Seung Gi in a range of fall fashions from Burberry, Dolce & Gabbana, Tod's and Heritory, the Asian fashion brand which he represents. The preppy styling actually really suits him but I'm not really feeling the English country looks. In the accompanying interview, the hardworking singer/actor/MC reveals the secret to his dedication saying that "The source of my energy is the happiness I feel from acting, singing and running programs. It's my secret to being able to work without rest and still feel it's not a chore."  What a great attitude. His schedule will only get busier as it's been reported he will be enrolling in classes at Dongguk University this fall in pursuit of a graduate degree.
