Eye Candy : Song Ji Hyo for Singles

January 30, 2013

Song Ji Hyo is probably best known for her roles in Princess Hours and A Frozen Flower. In the past few years she's become better known as the lone female cast member of the popular Korean variety show Running Man where she's earned the nickname 'Ace' for her competence, quick thinking and fiercely competitively spirit. She regularly abandons her glamorous image by dressing down and going barefaced to participate in the show's missions. The actress reminds us of what a stunner she is in this tropical winter getaway themed editorial for Korean magazine Singles in which she's styled like a boho free spirit in pretty fashions by DVF, Valentino, Jill Stuart and Ted Baker among other labels. I sure wouldn't mind a warm weather getaway right about now.

Pinteresting Things : Hair Edition

January 24, 2013

I love looking at hair cuts/styles and before Pinterest, I kept a hair style file of magazine pictures which I still actually have. Now I have a Hair Envy board on Pinterest that can really be called a collection of bobs, shags and pixie cuts since those are the styles I personally have the most affinity for. Here are some of my favorites. What types of hair styles are you most drawn to?

Dine Out : North End Grill

January 22, 2013
North End Grill, North End Grill Restaurant, North End Grill Restaurant Review, North End Grill Review, North End Grill New York

So this post is well overdue as we dined at North End Grill back in July during Summer Restaurant Week. Better late than never I suppose. I am trying to get back into a more regular routine with dining posts again. This New American restaurant is located downtown by Battery Park City just a few blocks away from the Hudson River. The mostly black and white decor has a modern yet cozy and relaxed feel. Just past the bar which is known for it's extensive scotch selection is an expansive open kitchen with counter seating that leads into the dining room. Circular white light fixtures resembling giant saucers dot the ceiling throughout the space. The service was stellar with the only snafu being the thrice fried spiced fries we ordered as a side which did not arrive until we were almost finished with our entrees. The staff was unfailingly apologetic about this error and comped the item on our check. We did enjoy our meal especially our main courses. The food was all well cooked and flavorful but perhaps a tad over-seasoned for our tastes. Executive Chef Floyd Cardoz formerly of Tabla and winner of Top Chef Masters 3 definitely doesn't hold back on the seasonings. I'm undecided if I would return but I'm glad we did go to try it out. North End Grill was named the best new restaurant of 2012 by the Zagat survey last fall. By the way, Winter Restaurant Week is now going on in NYC through February 14th. A three course prix fixe meal can be had for $25 at lunch and $38 at dinner. Here is more information and a list of participating establishments. We will be having an RW lunch at Locanda Verde today.

Eye Candy : A Thing of Beauty is a Joy Forever...

January 17, 2013

I originally had a Dine Out post planned for today but I was so utterly blown away by this exquisite Glass Magazine editorial photographed by Stockton Johnson featuring Du Juan and Tian Yi that I had to share it first. These gorgeous models are also clad in Chanel Haute Couture. While Song Hye Kyo's pictorial had a soft and almost dreamy feel to it, this one is decidedly more glamorous in the styling, hair and makeup.

Song Hye Kyo is a stunning vision of loveliness in this month's Elle Korea. The luminous Korean actress enchants in sumptuous Chanel Haute Couture and Chanel Fine Jewelry creations in this vintage romantic feeling editorial lensed by Hong Chang Hyun. She is both a muse and ambassador to the brand and was one of 113 celebrities to be featured in The Little Black Jacket photo project. Hye Kyo appears as Tony Leung's wife in Wong Kar Wai's eagerly awaited new film The Grandmasters and makes a return to the drama world next month in That Winter, The Wind Blows with Jo In Sung. Is it me or does it look like she hasn't aged at all since Autumn In My Heart?

Style Crush : Kate Bosworth

January 9, 2013

Kate Bosworth is usually one to make a statement on the red carpet and she did so again at the Golden Globes 2013 Kickoff Cocktail Party this past weekend. The actress wore a dress with cut out styling and sheer overlay from the Emilio Pucci Spring 2013 collection, accessorized with a python clutch and black heels. I really like how the details lend just the right touch of edgy glamour to this sleek LBD. What do you think of her look?
