Style Crush : Naomie Harris

February 28, 2014

Naomie Harris was quite the stunner at the LoveGold event honoring Academy Award nominee Lupita Nyong'o held at the Chateau Marmont earlier this week. The gorgeous British actress turned up in a Monique Lhuillier Pre-Fall 2014 navy jumpsuit paired with floral printed Christian Louboutin heels. Her hair and makeup were polished yet natural looking. I think this look beautifully illustrates how a jumpsuit can be a perfect alternative to a dress for an event as long as it's not too formal. The style of this one is both elegant and modern while the modestly placed lace details are femininely sexy without revealing too much skin. And Naomie just looks so statuesque and sleek in it. Ok she probably doesn't need much help in that department. What do you think of this look? Would you consider wearing a jumpsuit to an event? I definitely would and am totally in the market for one now. I'm been rather obsessed with them since discovering that J. Crew wedding jumpsuit.

Eye Candy : Park Shin Hye for Marie Claire

February 26, 2014
Park Shin Hye, Park Shin Hye Marie Claire

Marie Claire Korea has been really stepping it up with their editorials lately. Shin Sun Hye captures Park Shin Hye in this delightful Audrey Hepburn inspired pictorial which pays homage to the Hollywood legend's iconic look and film moments. The lovely 24 year old actress who is also a university student has cited Audrey Hepburn as her role model. She talks about admiring her dignity and said in the interview, "If you don't love yourself, you can't love others so living healthy and happily is my biggest goal." She certainly has a great outlook and I agree with it. Her last drama was the much hyped Heirs which I frankly found unwatchable. I have enjoyed her work in dramas such as You're Beautiful and Flower Boys Next Door and the film Cyrano Agency. Shin Hye will be portraying a Queen in her next project, the historical film The Tailors. The plot is supposed to center around the lives of small group of artisans who are in charge of creating royal attire and there may be some love triangles and intrigue.

Through My Lens : Recently

February 24, 2014
I just realized that it's been awhile since I've done one of these so here are some glimpses at life as seen through my camera.
After I reviewed Your Bijoux Box, I discovered an affection for statement necklaces. These are from BaubleBar and Groopdealz.

Pinteresting Things : Fashion Details

February 21, 2014
Antonio Berardi Fall 2013

I enjoy checking out fashion collections on sites like, StyleBistro and Vogue. One thing that I often find more interesting than the collections themselves are the photos which focus in on the garments themselves revealing the beautiful details as well as the craftsmanship and construction. It really makes you appreciate the art of the design and the work that goes into each piece. I like to collect the ones which really strike me onto my Fashion Moments board on Pinterest. Is anyone else as fascinated by these details as I am?

Sporty Chic For Spring

February 19, 2014
J. Crew, J. Crew Spring

I've decided that I'm done with winter so I'm just fast forwarding to spring now (in my mind anyway). When I saw this image pop up on J. Crew, I just knew that I'd have to adopt this look as a variation on my spring uniform of striped tees, skinny jeans, trench coats and ballet flats. As much as I love my dresses, I also definitely have a sporty side as well. I think this outfit is so effortlessly chic yet polished. The key is the tailored blazer and the streamlined fit of the sweatpants as well as the fashionable sneakers. It's perfect for the weekend or running errands. Do you have a tomboy/sporty side?

Eye Candy : Ji Chang Wook for Marie Claire

February 17, 2014

Ji Chang Wook is photographed by Shin Sun Hye in a number of fashionable looks for Marie Claire Korea. It's refreshing that the clothes are normal and wearable. I don't post that many male celebrity editorials because the styling or clothes are just too out there but I actually like pretty much everything he's wearing here especially that pastel blue coat in the last photo. It reminds me of the one that Jo In Sung wore in That Winter The Wind Blows. This handsome young actor who frequently performs in musical theatre productions is currently appearing as the Emperor of Yuan in the historical drama Empress Ki. I'm not watching it but word is he's holding his own against the formidable acting talents of Ha Ji Won and Joo Jin Mo. I thought he was just the cutest in A Bachelor's Vegetable Store And Smile Dong Hae.

Eye Candy : Lee Young Ae for Marie Claire

February 12, 2014

I can't quite get over this exquisitely beautiful Marie Claire editorial with Lee Young Ae lensed by Ahn Joo Yeong. The actress models a stunning array of hanboks and Cartier jewelry. Her fresh faced beauty certainly belies her age of 43 and this pictorial feels serenely modern despite the traditional dress. It's been over 10 years since she captivated audiences worldwide with her portrayal of a Chosun era palace kitchen cook who overcomes many hardships to become the first female royal physician in the epic series Dae Jang Geum (Jewel In The Palace). That was one of my first K-dramas and I remember being quite fascinated by the scenes detailing the painstaking preparation process of Korean royal cuisine as well as all the plotting and intrigue.

Totally Heartfelt

February 10, 2014

Floral Friday : Something Romantic

February 7, 2014

I'm pleased to take part in this wonderful photo series started by Trishie at Under Lock and KeyThe theme for February is "something romantic."

Romantic to me is the dreamy flutter of delicate flower petals against one another especially in shades of pink. These beautiful pale pink colored chrysanthemums beckoned to me as they sat outside a corner deli on West Broadway in New York City. Of course I just had to take them home with me after snapping this photo. What flowers or qualities of flowers do you find romantic?

Floral Fridays is a monthly photography project with different themes each month. This series is about fun and taking time out to smell the flowers. To play along, please email Trishie for next month's theme. And please visit my fellow participants below for more floral inspirations.

Color Love : Radiant Orchid

February 5, 2014
Pantone Color of the Year, Pantone Color of the Year Radiant Orchid
What can I say about Pantone's color of the year Radiant Orchid that hasn't already been said before. Pantone describes this vibrant hue as "an enchanting harmony of fuchsia, purple and pink undertones" that "inspires confidence and emanates great joy, love and health". Based on this description alone, I feel like I need an infusion of this color into my life. I also happen to think it's quite pretty especially when slightly muted. What are your thoughts on this color? Would you wear it or use it in your home?

An Anniversary

February 3, 2014

We celebrated our 12th wedding anniversary over the weekend. It feels really good to reach this mark and still be just as excited to be married as the day we said I do. Our marriage motto is one and done! Of course achieving this requires a dedicated effort from both of us. I just know that I'm incredibly lucky to be married to someone who always makes me feel like I hit the jackpot in the lottery. I'm not saying hubster is perfect but he's definitely perfect for me. I'm so grateful for every single day we get with each other and I look forward to growing old together like we always talk about. And yes that is the $225 wedding dress I mentioned before.

In case you missed it, we're giving away a $400 gift card!
