Style Crush : Diane Kruger At Cannes

May 31, 2012

Diane Kruger is a style icon in the making with her effortlessly glamorous red carpet looks. The actress who dresses herself definitely has a keen eye for fashion and knows what works on her. It comes as no surprise that the first time jury member was a stellar show stopper at the 65th Cannes Film Festival this year. She turned it out from the start floating into the opening ceremony in a diaphanous aqua one shoulder draped Giambattista Valli Couture gown and continuously reigned the red carpet in a parade of impeccable looks that culminated with a voluminous Christian Dior Couture checkered organza and lace ball gown at the closing ceremony. Her romantic Nina Ricci paneled dress with floral and feather embellishments was my favorite. Which is yours?

Rena & Ian : Sweetness : And A Winner

May 29, 2012
On Ian: Trousers: Vintage Ken // Trainers: 1:16 scale Nike // On Rena: Mary Janes: Barbie Model Muse

I usually have a little story to accompany each one of my photos of Rena and Ian but I think I'll just leave the story up to you for this one. I've said before that I feel that an image can sometimes be more compelling when you don't see any faces because it can be left up to the viewer to fill in the blanks of the visual. I can say that I was trying to convey a sweet moment here. Isn't their footwear just the cutest.

The winner of the Shabby Apple gift card giveaway is Susan of Ava Grace's Closet!
Congratulations Susan! I'll be contacting you by email.
Thanks to everyone who entered!

Covet : J. Crew Ballet Flats

May 24, 2012

Have you visited J. Crew's Ballet Boutique? It's like a veritable candy store for lovers of ballet flats! Just look at all these delicious colors, stylish textures and charming patterns. I admit I like to go there and ogle the pretties. And if you hover over the shoes, they like dance for you. It's thoroughly enchanting. I'm totally coveting the Lula Glitter style and can't decide between the two colors. I have two pairs of Cece ballet flats and can attest to their chicness, comfort and quality. Read about how they're made in Tuscany, Italy hereBeing a New Yorker, I walk alot and practically live in flats this time of year. Are you a fan of ballet flats?

It's been awhile since I've posted for two days in a row. I hope to get back to a more regular blogging routine soon. I'm feeling so much more like my old self for the most part these days. I finished up my healing Chinese herbal medicine routine last week and my doctor now has me on a restorative rotation. Thankfully this one doesn't smell/taste of cesspool and doesn't require me to be on a restricted diet. That was not fun. I hope you're all having a splendid week. I bet everyone in the U.S. is looking forward to the long weekend. I'll be back next week with the winner of the Shabby Apple gift card giveaway. It ends Sunday if you'd like to enter.

Eye Candy : Gao Yuan Yuan for Marie Claire

May 23, 2012

Actress Gao Yuan Yuan seems to be appearing in an editorial a month lately and she always looks amazing. I think this floral powered pictorial for Marie Claire China is quite pretty though this much floral in real life decor would be rather hideous. She's been promoting her new movie Design of Death. I quite enjoyed her performance in A Good Rain Knows and less so in the overhyped and disappointing Don't Go Breaking My Heart

There's still time to enter my giveaway for a chance to win a Shabby Apple gift card.

Rena & Ian : Spring Fling

May 10, 2012
On Rena // Dress: Barbie Elizabeth Taylor
On Ian // Cap: Cool Cat // Shirt: Ken // Pants: Vintage Ken // Sneakers: Mimi // Tie: Taeyang

Rena and Ian are loving the warmer weather. Rena really wanted to climb up this tree and she didn't let the fact that she was in a pretty gown stop her. The girl is fiercely determined when she sets her mind to something. Ian finds that to be one of her most charming qualities. My next post on these two will be their backstory. Believe it or not this is not how they looked when I first got them.

So this can be counted as my cameo blog appearance for this week. I'm doing much better these days. The tinnitus is minimal and the vertigo less frequent. Taking it easy and staying away from anything stressful has definitely helped. Hope everyone is doing well and having an amazing week.

Shoe Crush : Loeffler Randall Filippa Sandal

May 3, 2012

With summer just peeking around the corner now, I've been sandal stalking lately and I've fallen in love with the Filippa sandal from Loeffler Randall's spring collection. This refined update to their signature strappy mignon style is available in four versatile fashion forward colors and textured materials that includes orange suede, bottle green embossed snake, pale metallic gold or classic black leather making it rather hard to choose just one. I think I may be leaning towards the orange. Which would you go for?

These sandals are "ethically sourced and handmade". The company recently released two short videos documenting their meticulous production process. A peek behind the scenes is always fun.
