Through My Lens : On Instagram

slip-on sneakers, from where I stand

April seemed to breeze by but somehow May felt like it passed even quicker. It was a good month and I might have gotten out more if not for my allergies going crazy at times. Here are some highlights of the month which have been previously posted on Instagram. This is just 13 of 47 photos I posted in the past month so to see more please click on over here. And you can always follow @rolalaloves. I promise I don't spam and I also don't post every single photo from each of my blog posts cause that's kinda spammy as well. The above photo was taken at the Time Warner Center. I thought the green marble floor tiles there looked like water and this juxtaposition almost made it look like I was standing on a ledge over it.

Battery Park City Esplanade
Some real water... a lovely view of the Hudson River from the Battery Park City Esplanade which is one of my favorite places to hang during the warmer months.
NY Supreme Court, 60 Centre Street
The cherry blossoms came and went in the city pretty quickly. Always makes me a little sad when they fall but it's so pretty at the same time.
Chelsea
The Flatiron Building in Chelsea. I used to live in this neighborhood and still miss it sometimes.
I attended a brunch with Woman's Day magazine at the very photogenic Hearst Tower which was the first green commercial high-rise building in the city. This was one of the projects we DIY'ed while I was there and we also learned how to make body scrub.
Empire State Building Red White and Blue Lights
A view of the Empire State Building lit up in red, white and blue in honor of Memorial Day.
The One World Trade underpass looks so cool and futuristic.
A few cool watch styles from the Timex Fall 2015 collection preview.
Takahachi Bakery Macaron
A cherry blossom macaron from Takahachi Bakery. The taste was quite delicate and similar to a rose macaron.
Margherita Pizza
Artichoke Basille's margherita pizza is probably one of my favorite slices in NYC.
sabich platter and falafel sampler
The sabich platter and falafel sampler at Taim Falafel never disappoints.
Jajangmyun, black bean noodles
On the home cooking front, Korean Jajangmyeon (black bean noodles) is a dish that I learned to make years ago cause we would see it in Korean dramas and it always looked so good. I hadn't made it in awhile but husband recently requested it and this was so tasty. I really need to learn to make the Chinese version as well. Here is my recipe btw.
Coral Charm Peony
I always love peony season and Coral Charm peonies are my favorite lately!

Hi Rowena,

What beautiful photos you have taken and yes, I can't believe how fast the year is going too.
I really thought you were standing near the water in the first one and love the cherry blossom carpet.
Happy new week

Just lovely images, Rowena:) You have a great eye. And OMG! I did think you were standing on the ledge of a pool or something in that first shot!

You are right, seems it passed even quicker and is a shame as is my fav month! Your IG photos are always so beautiful and relaxing to see Rowena, looking at the pizza and the falafel plate I hear my tummy rumbles!:) The cherry blossom macaron is beautiful, as well as the peony. Happy Monday! xo

I really enjoy your IG feed! It always has beautiful photos, in most of the cases minimalistic. I love the variety of your profile and I am happy to see you're enjoying it too! The food is quite exotic to me but it's always interesting to read about it. The first photo is the best, btw. I thought it was real water. And those slippers are very cool! Have a nice Monday, Rowena!

First of all, let me say that your cup cake decoration skills are pretty cool. I really like that green icing that looks like grass and the little bee is adorable- I tried to comment but I don't have an insta account so no luck....and great you learned how to make body scrub, it seems that this women's brunch was such a lovely event!

I must say I really like all of your photographs but especially the first and the last one. The first because there is something so relaxing about it..the movement of water captured...and the sneakers also seem to indicate dynamic.- you know I like sth when I get philosophical about it.

The flower on the last photo is absolutely beautiful....and I immensely enjoyed the photographs of the buildings. I love the urban aesthetics -they can be as fascinating as nature itself.

all the food looks super yummy....beans and noodles- there is a rustic vibe to this dish that I really like.

I know exactly what you mean about the photo of the green marble floor. It really looks like the water's edge. Sadly the wind here very quickly blew away the blossom but it was exceptionally pretty this year. I shall pop over to Instagram now!

I still remember that bridge picture that you posted on IG and got many people folioed into thinking it's high rise. LOL! And recipe BOOKMARKED! I can't wait to make it!

Beautiful pictures as always, Rowena! It is really lovely to have you in my Instagram feed.
I used to be more passionate about posting pics but it is still a big part of my SNS sharing. It motivates me in a strange way, too.
It is chilly and ridiculous today. Hope you're staying warm! :)

I actually thought you were standing on a ledge over water but when I looked after reading your description I see the tiles. :) The cherry blossoms are really pretty on the ground as well as on the trees, at least it gives you another way to enjoy them. You know I have yet to have good, or even mediocre, pizza in NYC?

WHY DO ALL GOOD THINGS COME TO AN END?? Magnolia trees, cherry blossoms...now even most lilac trees are coming to an end.
I never cared much for 'flower-y' flavoured macarons--the first macaron I ever had was a rose flavoured one, and it gave me the wrong impression of macarons. I thought they were dull/overrated until I tried tastier flavours such as pistachio :p
All your Instagram shots are making me seriously want to visit New York :3
