Vogue

Even the most compatible couples can have their share of difficulties in their relationships at times.  It's important to remember that good relationships don't just happen, they take work. Things can happen which cause people to drift apart or become stuck in a rut their relationships. If this happens to you know that it doesn't have to be that way. There are steps you can take to try to improve your relationship.

Talk
Couples sometimes neglect to talk because of their busy schedules. Be open and honest with your partner, even if it has nothing to do with your romantic connection. Even if you’re simply talking about your day, it helps rebuild any communication that’s been lost.

Cuddle
Cuddling is undervalued even though it is a form of intimacy that helps people to stay connected and become closer. Cuddling promotes bonding through the way it provides a physical and emotional connection.

Listen
When your partner speaks, be sure to pay attention and really listen to what they are saying. Try to understand if they're struggling. Be supportive if that is what they need. Sometimes they might just need to vent so you don't need to do much besides lend and ear and show that you are there for them.

Take Some Time Apart
Spending time together is important but occasionally, taking some time apart from one another may be really beneficial to a relationship. Spend the weekend with a friend or family member. Distance does make the heart grow fonder.

Make An Effort
The little things actually do matter so it's a good idea to go out of your way to show your partner how much you care. If your relationship is struggling because of distance, make the effort as often as possible. You could think of some long distance birthday ideas such as a saucy video message, or find a meaningful gift to show them that you how much you care, even when you can't be there.

Spice Things Up
Make a particular effort to surprise your spouse in the bedroom from time to time. It keeps things fresh and is great way to bring a couple closer together and make each other feel special.

Cook Together
Cooking can improve your relationship with food and cooking together can strengthen a relationship. This experience is a good way to spend time together, building cooperation, improving communication and just having fun. And then you get to eat what you made together.

Clean
Just like cooking together, sharing chores and cleaning with your partner fosters a sense of collaboration that can strengthen relationships. When you team up to tackle those tasks, you feel like you're in it together. And things get done faster so you can go do something fun.

Seek Help
If you're having trouble communicating and both of you want to make the relationship work, don't be afraid to get professional help so that you can start the process of repairing your relationship.

Take A Trip Together
A change of scenery can sometimes help to put things in perspective. Ask your parents to take care of the kids for the weekend so that you and your significant other can have some alone time. It will let you both  be able to communicate and find a way to come to an understanding.

Set Aside Time For One Another
Make sure that you and your partner are both making an effort to spend time together. It shouldn't just be a one way street. Be there for one another and be present even when it’s difficult. Be there for each other, especially at this trying time.

Work Together
It’s always easier to work together than against each other. Consider attending relationship building exercises to build up trust and help you to work as a team again. Rebuild your partnership and appreciate each other's strengths.
