How is it October already? We just had our second yard sale of the year which was a great contribution to my fall cleaning efforts. Here is everything else that I've been into lately.
Reading...
Kevin Kwan has been one of my favorite authors ever since I read Crazy Rich Asians and I have read all his books. His latest is reminiscent of CRA in that it centers on a destination wedding and while it is also a social satire with a scathing critique on status and materialism, it has been deftly updated to reflect the current social climate. The story is so juicy and hilarious and I haven't been to put it down.
Watching...
This Disney+ fantasy drama is about a controversial judge possessed by a demon named Justicia who has been tasked with finding and sending 10 murderers to hell. Her mission is complicated by a detective who she begins to develop feelings for. This show is so entertaining and fun to watch, it's no wonder it's been doing so well in the ratings. I think this might be one of Park Shin Hye's best performances and her chemistry with Kim Jae Young who plays the cop is so good as well. It's so satisfying when she punishes the murderers by making them feel the same pain they inflicted on their victims.
Finished watching....
This rom com drama centers around a woman who is sick of suffering losses and decides to stage a fake marriage with a convenience store worker so she can reap the benefits and regain all the money she has spent on other people's weddings. Shin Min Ah is winning as the heroine Lee Hae Young who is smart, capable, kind and assertive. This show actually throws out so many common tropes only to subvert them in unexpected ways. The lead up to the ending was a tad disappointing but this was still a lighthearted and satisfying watch. The 2 episode spin-off Spice Up Our Love featuring the second leads in a web novel come to life was adorable.
Eating...
I try to make sure vegetables are a major component of every meal so I'm always into trying different recipes to add a new twist to old favorites. This salad which incorporates both raw and roasted vegetables which creates such interesting contrasting texture. The shallot vinaigrette is tasty too but I make it without raisins because raisins are gross and no honey because I don't use any added sugars. Been experimenting with additional greens like spinach and adding caramelized onion and roasted carrots.
Drinking...
I’m a big fan of sparkling water and have tried many different ones. This one stands out for it's crisp, clean and refreshing taste. It's great at either room temperature or out of the refrigerator. The strawberry and peach flavors are my faves.
Loving..
I purchased a small bottle of this much loved hair mask because I've heard such good things about it and I was impressed from the first time I used it. This mask has improved the condition of my hair and made it so much more manageable, shiny and bouncy.
Using...
An acupressure mat at my desk
I've been using my PEMF mat in favor of my acupressure mat so I recently moved to use when I'm sitting at my desk for reflexology benefits. Not surprisingly, it provides in instant relaxation effect since there are over 7,000 nerve endings in each foot. I feel like it helps to boost circulation and improve my energy levels.
Wearing..
I grabbed these sneakers on sale over the summer and now that I'm wearing them I've gotten so many compliments. Famous for casual sneakers that fuse sustainability with style. The CITY silhouette is the brand's iconic 90's inspired sneaker which pay tribute to the most iconic cities in the world on the soles.
I chose the Paris because the colors of this pair appealed to me and I felt like they would be quite versatile. They are quite easy to style.
