Floral Friday : All About Foliage

Nature Photography, Floral Friday
and the leaves were telling secrets to the wind...

Leaves are often overshadowed by flowers but they can be just as interesting if we just take the time to really look at and appreciate them. Their time to shine is usually during the fall as they change hues but they're also quite pretty in their verdant glory when the weather is warm. Do you take notice of leaves when you admire the flowers?

Floral Fridays is a monthly photography project with different themes each month. This series is about fun and taking time out to smell the flowers. To play along, please email Trishie for next month's theme. And please visit my fellow participants below for more inspirations. See more Floral Friday posts.

Hi Rowena! Yep, I do! I usually look at them as well as the flower itself. Love how they change the color during the different season and also their various shapes. When I was a child, I loved to pick them :) And your shot is just dreamy my dear, congrats. Wish you a wonderful weekend, many hugs! xo

You make such an excellent point. I often neglect to appreciate the leaves until fall.

Some trees have gorgeous leaves year round though. Like red bud trees.

Thank you for pointing this out.

Ah yes this was one of the things I loved to do when I was a kid at my grandparents house. Lay in their hammock and look up at the trees and how the leaves would move. And one night I kid you not. I saw a UFO. My sister saw it too. And their thing is, there all these lights in the sky right about above the trees..but...wait for it...no sound. Then it came out from behind the trees and pretty much looked like a stereotypical movie UFO. Weird.

I never used to pay much attention to foliage until recently, because I find that most of the flowers I like are actually shrubs, so foliage is part of that package deal. (Currently working on my gardening game)
With that being said though, I like look up a tree sometimes to have a look at the foliage, but half the time I'm paranoid because what if there's a worm hanging off the tree? Or what if a squirrel decides to throw stuff that my face? These are the real q's I think about ._.

I love this photograph Rowena! Here in WA state it's all about foliage. There are so any beautiful plants that produce gorgeous leaves that change with the season. When you live in cold weather .. flowers can't grow so you really branch out to try other things. Have a nice weekend! xxL

I do pay attention to leaves as well. But I much prefer flowers and spring :)

I do love the leaves as well as the flowers, the green makes everything look cleaner after the dreariness of winter! I took some forestry classes so I had to learn trees by their leaves alone {and also when there were no leaves}.

Hi Rowena,

So nice to meet you! It's true, isn't it, about overlooking all the lovely leaves and noticing the pretty flowers! Your beautiful photo is a reminder that foliage can be just as fabulous!

Happy weekend!
