Dine Out : Cafe Mocha

cafe mocha new york review

Cafe Mocha is an East Village find that has a little something for everyone. The cafe which also serves as a coffee house and wine bar has a comfortable relaxed atmosphere that invites you to hang out and enjoy your food and drinks without ever feeling rushed. You can dine al fresco and people watch out along their sidewalk cafe or chill inside the cozy bistro style dining room that also has a bar along one wall. The extensive New American menu offers everything from tapas to salads, pastas and sandwiches with a section devoted entirely to crepes which you customize any way you want. We really enjoyed our food which was tasty and flavorful. The portions were generous enough that we couldn't even finish our entrees. That did leave a little room for a dessert of yummy crepes which I'd recommend if you ever visit. We got ours with banana, nutella and whipped cream. I found the service to be both pleasant and knowledgeable and the entire staff was actually very friendly. If you want to catch up on sports, they have 3 tvs at the bar and there's free wi-fi if you need to check your email. They're also known for their exceptional specialty coffees which I didn't try on my visit cause it was past the hours I could have caffeine. This is an ideal spot for meeting up with friends any time of the day.I wish there was a place like this in my neighborhood.

I love your Dine Out series because it gives me ideas for places to visit in the city! This cafe is in my neighborhood and sounds awesome- I have to add it to my list. Also, I used to live on 7th street and it's my favorite in terms of all the wonderful shops and places to eat on that street.

Any place with coffee is a good place as far as I'm concerned! Have you ever had a peanut butter, nutella and fluff crepe? So good {and so sickeningly sweet}.

I agree those lights look like firecrackers, now that you mention it! That ABC restaurant was in the 888 B'way building and if you walk straight when you get in the doors it was down some stairs on the opposite wall. It does sound like it was different. I don't wash my hair every day/every shower but the last few weeks it has been getting greasy within hours of washing. It was either the shampoo or my hair had gone rogue or I wasn't rinsing. I found another shampoo this past weekend and my fingers are now crossed this one is amazing! :)

Sounds like the perfect people to meet up with close friends you haven't seen in a long while! From the pictures, the atmosphere looks very warm and inviting. Glad you had such a fulfilling meal but could still find room for dessert. I always say there is one stomach for food and another stomach for dessert. Crepes! Love them. Especially the ones they do hot on the open market - lush. Rosemary x

Hi Rowena, you always find the best and most interesting places to dine out at. Looks sublime. I would love to hear a post on the different areas of NYC, I read and hear about them but I am not too sure what they each represent. Hope your week is going well :)
