A year ago today, the hubster and I were on our way back to NYC from a long weekend in Chicago. Here are some snaps from that trip. We had both been there separately for business and liked it enough that we returned together. The weather was sweltering but we still had fun. There is some great architecture in the city and the Chicago skyline is almost as pretty as New York's. You'll have to excuse me for being a little biased. It's a good food town as well. Have you been to the windy city? What was your impression?

Roasted Bone Marrow at The Purple Pig. Scoop it out and eat on toast. Sinfully rich!
A little photo fun in our bathroom at The James Hotel cause that's how we roll.

I love Chicago...half of my family live there!! I am from just across the water there, from the state of Michigan :)) I used to spend summers in Chicago with my Aunties. Also to go and see stage shows at the theatre. It's a fabulous place, like any big city it has it's down sides too, but overall, I really enjoy it :)) xx
I was in Chicago a long long time ago and I've been dying to go back now that I'm an adult.
OMG --- those churros look SO good. YUMMY. Great pictures of the buildings in Chicago too. Looks like it was a fun trip, it's good to recall memories with photos :)

I have only made it to the Chicago airport, never seen the city. Everyone speaks so well of so I'll have to visit one day ... one day!
I've only been to NYC but not Chicago so I can't make a comparison. I love the last shot best. Your hubby looks so funny disturbing you.
Aww, love that last shot but ALL of these photos are stunning! I loved Chicago, what an amazing city! Loved the architecture, the vibe, food (Cheescake Factory & Bao Wow)... Sigh! I'd love to go back to the windy city!

Awww! Thank you so much for showing us these photos! You were only 3 blocks away from me. I live right next to the Trump Tower, and behind the Wrigley Building! Xoco is a great place to eat, and you pretty much found all the good places to go :)
Hi doll, how are you doing? I am in awe at the artfulness of these photos, you have a brilliant eye for the camera! I have never really seen Chicago in this light before, what a fantastic looking city. The first two views are my favourite, amazing. The last pic is so cute!
Hi lovely, I haven't been to Chicago ... I've been in NY and Washington and I'd love return...
Great post! and my G+ for you...

Your pictures are really nice and make me think a visit might be nice. I drove around it when I was a kid and we went on a 6 week camping trip across the States. They didn't let us go anywhere fun like cities {my parents hate them} or Mexico, I was sooo deprived. ;)
Thanks for the commiseration on the Yahoo thing. I'm so annoyed I can't even harass their call center tonight. I just going to write that new C.E.O. She's that company's only hope. I'm really glad you got your situation straightened out though, I put in passwords every day until they lock my account for 12 hours so hopefully I'll figure it out soon too.
I can't believe you have lost your taste for cold things although I kind of have had the same thing happen to me with the stuff I shouldn't have. Thinking about the alternative has allowed me to sit and watch people eat things I really want without touching. :)
Chicago is always one of the cities I've always wanted to visit. The food at Purple Pig makes me want to go more...LOL!
I've never visited this windy city :) but have it on my to-do list. Wonderful photos! That picture of the river is so pretty and the skyline is gorgeous. I've heard the food is fantastic - those churros are making me hungry!

I've never visited Chicago but I've always wanted to visit. These photos are really great. Love them all.
Thanks for sharing.
Thank you for sharing a glimpse of Chicago through your lens. I've never been there before but my cousin lived there for 10 years. I'd love to visit the city one day after I've explored enough of the European continent.
I love Chicago! And it's so funny because J & I were just talking about how I've never been there in the summer. Only winter which was brutally cold and then in the fall and spring but those were both quick trips in and out for work. We're thinking about a long weekend maybe in Septemeber. A little culinary adventure. XOCO is at the top of our list too. We need to experience the Rick Bayless mole :) xoxo
Aww it is great to see you! You two are too cute! I was only in Chicago once for work years ago but had some great food there (Morton's, Vietnamese, Garett's popcorn...)
Can you teach me how to take night pictures because your pictures are stunning! I'll have to get you a Chicago hot dog in thanks ;)

Oh wow, that roasted bone marrow looks absolutely amazing! Yum, I love trying new things like that. I've heard such good things about food in Chicago. I'm dying to visit there one day. :)
Also, that lion outside of the Art Institute is awesome.

Lovely photos! I hope I'll visit one day. :)
Love that last pic! You're such a cutie. :D I went to Chicago last year and ate the same foods you featured on this post!
I have visited before and I had a lovely time. I ate like a pig! I see you found a lot of yummy food on your visit. It is a very cool city. I hope to return one day.

Rowena, you are just too cute! I love that pic of you and your hubby. These pics are fabulous :) LOVE! I've been to Chicago once and it was only for a weekend. We stayed at a hotel on Michigan Avenue and shopped, so I didn't get to see the entire city. I only visited the stores. HAHAHA How cheeky is that? Chicago is gorgeous, but NYC has so much character and personality :D Thanks for sharing these! You're a doll! You should appear more on your blog.

OMG what does bone marrow taste like?! I have been so curious about it but can't seem to find a place in Sydney that serves it.
I have had so many friends who are from Chicago and yet somehow never made it out there. I really do want to visit it sometime, I always hear the best things about it.

Gorgeous photos of the city, you captured the sentiments of Chicago right there. Maybe one day. What a plus to get a sneakpeek of you and your hub, now time for a full revealation ;)
I havent been to many states as i want to after 8 years in the US. Only Florida, North Carolina and West Virginia (and TX which is my current home) at this point. It is hard to divide time for domestic travel since i always have to save up my vacation to go visit my family overseas and the next thing you know, two weeks are gone.
Woow! what a pretty post! lovely photos! The last photo so cute <3
Chicago is an amazing city isn't it? I go there every week for work and each time lovely husband C. has joined me for weekend we've had an amazing time exploring and taking in the sights.
Chicago is definitely on my list of places to visit! Not only is their architecture phenomenal (though I agree NYC is better), but there's so much art/stuff happening there too. Need to go one day! *squeals* The last pic is so cute :3
I have always wanted to visit Chicago. Thank you for sharing your pictures.
Gorgeous pictures! I absolutely love Chicago. My mom's side of the family lives there so we try to visit them every couple of years. Glad you enjoyed your visit!
ahhh adorable photo you you and your hubby rowena. you know, i usually go to illinois once a year to visit relatives and never have I once been to Chicago, only the springfield mall (i think that is what it is called with 3-4 levels of stores). I think I will take a trip there for one day this winter. Love Chinatown photo and churros yum yum. i agree with another reader that I would like to see Chicago for its architecture also. I might need to make another trip to new york too to go to all the museums and do the tourist thing.
