Dine Out : North End Grill

North End Grill, North End Grill Restaurant, North End Grill Restaurant Review, North End Grill Review, North End Grill New York

So this post is well overdue as we dined at North End Grill back in July during Summer Restaurant Week. Better late than never I suppose. I am trying to get back into a more regular routine with dining posts again. This New American restaurant is located downtown by Battery Park City just a few blocks away from the Hudson River. The mostly black and white decor has a modern yet cozy and relaxed feel. Just past the bar which is known for it's extensive scotch selection is an expansive open kitchen with counter seating that leads into the dining room. Circular white light fixtures resembling giant saucers dot the ceiling throughout the space. The service was stellar with the only snafu being the thrice fried spiced fries we ordered as a side which did not arrive until we were almost finished with our entrees. The staff was unfailingly apologetic about this error and comped the item on our check. We did enjoy our meal especially our main courses. The food was all well cooked and flavorful but perhaps a tad over-seasoned for our tastes. Executive Chef Floyd Cardoz formerly of Tabla and winner of Top Chef Masters 3 definitely doesn't hold back on the seasonings. I'm undecided if I would return but I'm glad we did go to try it out. North End Grill was named the best new restaurant of 2012 by the Zagat survey last fall. By the way, Winter Restaurant Week is now going on in NYC through February 14th. A three course prix fixe meal can be had for $25 at lunch and $38 at dinner. Here is more information and a list of participating establishments. We will be having an RW lunch at Locanda Verde today.

Everything you had looks so delicious! Especially the cheesecake. I'd love to try this place out (although I think I'd look strange since it seems like a more mature/sophisticated setting). I'd love to see more Dine Out posts! :]

The food looks amazing, too bad it was just a tad over-seasoned. The interiors of the restaurant look super chic though!

Wow, Rowena, this looks really great! I don't get to enjoy great restaurants that often, so I'm living vicariously through your dine out posts :) I guess that over seasoning would be a bummer for me as well, but still, it all looks really delicious and perfect on the pictures. Looks like a great photographer took them :)
I'm already looking forward to the next dine out post!

Hope you are having a lovely week so far!

Oh wow, this food looks amazing!! Pistachio cheesecake sounds so yummy - have never had that before! You know it's a good place when they think enough to take off the fries because they didn't come out in the right order. That's nice!

I'm in the better late than never camp as well. It's funny you went to a new American restaurant since I often have a conversation about what food actually is American and no one can ever figure it out.

I love the wine cabinet they have in the interior. With the exception of the salad and the fries, I'm not as sure about the food - I'm as picky about food combinations as you are with dramas. ;) I hope you had a great lunch this week!
