Shop Tour : Birchbox Soho Store

Birchbox Soho, Birchbox Store, Birchbox New York, Birchbox New York Store

Birchbox which is known for their monthly subscription beauty box service recently opened their first retail store in Soho, New York. The spacious and well lit two level shop is a veritable haven for any beauty lover. They offer a wide selection of brands including a range of natural and organic ones as well as a number of products which are exclusive to Birchbox. There are testers provided for everything and the products are organized by type rather than by brand making it easy to navigate and shop. It's really helpful to see all the offerings in one category grouped together and makes it simple to do quick comparisons if you're trying to decide between two products. There's also a section devoted to Birchbox Man for the guys. And it doesn't stop with beauty as I noticed that they also carry a nice selection of lifestyle products.

They have a Try Bar that lets you sample current hot trends. The Beauty Workshop on the lower level offers hair, makeup and nail services with manicures starting at just $10. My favorite area of the store had to be the BYOB (Build Your Own Birchbox) area. With the help of Reena, an extremely friendly and knowledgeable consultant, I was able to custom build my own box for $15. You get to select the color of your box along with five samples from these categories: body &nails, skincare, fragrance, hair and makeup. And you get to take it home right away. Reena was great about helping me make my choices and also gave me advice on how to use them. She even gave me her email there in case I had any follow-up questions on the products. Now that's service! You can peek it at the end here and in my next post I'll be reviewing the products I got in my custom Birchbox.

I found the Birchbox experience to be quite chill which is a refreshing change from Sephora where the atmosphere can really be a little frenetic at times. The environment definitely encourages customers to shop, sample and learn at your own pace. I like how you can explore on your own and help is also readily available. This store is a fantastic addition to the NYC beauty scene and I definitely plan to visit again and maybe try out the beauty services. I also now have another store to drop by when I happen to be in the area. For Birchbox subscribers, you can use your points when you shop here.

I've never done a subscription like this, Rowena. I do love the concept of the Birchbox store, and that BYOB is such a great idea.

I think if I had to choose a beauty box, this one would be my favourite. I tried it once, but haven't subscribed to the regular delivery simply because I am very loyal to my current products. :)

How pretty! Love the look of the store. Like you said, this is rather a fresh break from Sephora (I haven't shopped there in ages). There are so many subscription boxes out there and I'm pretty much meh about them but Birchbox seems to strive. Adding a retail store with customization and beauty service would make the brand even stronger. I'd love to visit the location soon. :)

I can't wait to one day visit this store. I have been a long-time subscriber of Birchbox so visiting a physical store would be cool to see! Perhaps they will expand soon!? =)

I've heard of their subscription service but had no idea that they had a store. That's a cool looking store; I can see myself spending a lot of time there especially if it has a chill atmosphere. I feel the same way about Sephora as well; ours always plays some upbeat music really, really loud. I find it very distracting so I never buy anything when I'm there; I wait until I can look at it again online, where I can actually think, lol!

You picked out a great BYOB! I've sampled all of those products, and while I'm the ONE person not huge on the Liz Earle system, I love the other products. You took awesome photos!

This sounds like an amazing store! I like the idea that you can build your own Birchbox. I do hope they decide to open one in the UK soon!

I have not heard of this brand name but do know of beauty box concept! My oh my, this place is just so heavenly! Love the cosy woody sort of atmosphere, such nice environment to shop in, where you are left alone most of the time, but help is always within reach if you need some. (I get what you meant shopping at Sephora *_^)

Most definitely must pay a visit if I ever set foot on NYC soil one fine day! haha

Thanks for sharing, always a good read from your blog post! Always new discovery. Have a great week ahead, my friend.

Cheers,
Jeann

I haven't found a beuty box that ships to Mexico :( but I would love to find one!

I had no idea that there was an actual shop. A friend of mine subscribes to their box and is very happy with what she gets delivered. Unfortunately they don't ship to my country but it's good to know that I can go to their Soho shop next time I'm in NYC.

I much prefer the make your own sample box to subscribing to something where you pay to possibly get things you'll just throw out, so I definitely think the store is a great idea {and obviously I don't subscribe to those boxes}. Some day I need to spend a day in NYC just visiting the beauty stores. I've been compiling quite a list. :)
