Dine Out : Cantine Parisienne

Cantine Parisienne Review, Cantine Parisienne New York

Cantine Parisienne is a stylish restaurant attached to the Nolitan Hotel on Kenmare Street in Nolita. The airy dining room with sizable windows boasts contemporary decor with a cozy relaxed neighborhood vibe while the menu features a healthier spin on French bistro staples based on seasonal sustainable local ingredients with an American flair. We shared a baby kale caesar salad as a starter. The croutons in there were a surprise as they were pieces of crispy tofu which I thought was pretty cool considering I love tofu. They were a tad salty though. I knew I wanted to try their croque monsieur before we went and I liked that they offer a few variations on the classic French sandwich. I chose the Provencale which is an addition of tomato and basil and it was lovely. It was also sizable and filling enough that I could only eat half and had to get the rest to go. The food was well cooked and well seasoned. The portions on our entrees were quite generous or maybe we're just not big eaters. Overall the service was good and friendly. It was a nice dining experience if not especially memorable but at least there wasn't anything to complain about. I'd probably stop back in if I happened to be in the neighborhood.

Are you a fan of French food?

So I really need to get back to my Dine Out series as my memory card is seriously packed with pictures of restaurants that I want to review and share so expect to see more of these soon.

Your photos are simply amazing! Actually I love reading reviews of restaurants and seeing food photos, as they inspire me to try new things. Recently I had Indian food for the 1st time and I was surprised how delicious it was! The baby kale ceaser salad looks great! Btw, I had to google tofu. Considering the fact that you love it, I suppose it's delicious? I don't know if I am a fan of French food as I have never been to France... but I love French macaroons! That restaurant looks really cozy! Looking forward to seeing more reviews on your blog! Have a lovely weekend!

I don't get a lot of chance to eat French food, but I do like it:) Using tofu as croutons is brilliant!

The restaurant looks cozy and modern! The food looks great, too.
I don't think I've actually felt "Oh, I want some French food" like I sometimes crave Italian, Japanese, or Korean, but I do like a good restaurant with a French flare. For example, I like Le Grainne Cafe (although the owner is from Ireland, I heard ;p).

That food looks SO tasty! I love the style/atmosphere of the restaurant as well. Yes, I do love French food. We actually came across this French Mexican restaurant in Brooklyn and we always go back! Such an interestingly tasty fusion. Always enjoyable to try out new places :)

I'm not sure how much French food I've had, so I can't really say I dislike it, but I love food in general so I'm sure I do lol. My favorite is Italian and Asian cuisines. ^__^ Though I like being adventurous depending!

Your choice of the Provencale sounds delicious with tomato and basil, although all of the food you've photographed looks well presented and desperately tasty! ;) I often find that restaurants attached to hotels are of such high quality, although sometimes lack the ability to create a lasting impression, so perhaps that is why you felt that way? :) The contemporary design is really quite something and once again, I'm wishing I lived near some of these amazing places some of my favourite bloggers write about! Have a wonderful week ahead :)

Love the cozy atmosphere! I just realised that if I ever go to NYC, this post series IS TOTALLY GOING TO HELP ME SCORE BROWNIE POINTS WITH MY FRIENDS WITH FOOD RECOMMENDATIONS. I can't say I've had too much experience with French food, though I did have dinner at a French restaurant while I was in France, and I had the best darn creme brulee there.

(I also had no idea what a croque monsieur was, until I googled it, but I really did think those were two hash browns sandwiched together)

The food looks wonderful! I've been on a kale kick lately and earlier today I was just thinking about how I might try a kale caesar salad with the baby greens we get at our CSA. I love how it holds up under a dressing. And I have a great caesar dressing recipe from my father in law.

I do like the vegetarian sorts of French food. I don't eat it that often but, yum! The design of the restaurant is quite nice as well. I'm looking forward to your other posts, I have a ton of vacation and I was thinking of taking every Friday off in December which would allow me to come to the city for the window displays! I'll have food recommendations now too. :)
