Strivectin Advanced Retinol Pore Refiner

As much as I like to try out the latest and greatest in skincare, there are some active ingredients that I always go back to because they just work. Retinol which is a pure form of Vitamin A is one of them. Retinol is commonly used to address a wide range of skin issues from aging to acne and from my experience, it is effective. As retinol becomes increasingly integrated with modern skincare, products also go beyond to offer more extensive benefits. Strivectin Advance Retinol Pore Refiner is a product that does this as an anti-aging treatment that also delivers instant and longterm improvements to the appearance of pores.

About the Brand: Strivectin is perhaps best known for their StriVectin-Di stretch mark cream which became a phenomenon with sales over 6 million tubes globally. Today, Strivectin is a clinically-proven, scientific skin care line that offers comprehensive anti-aging solutions. All Strivectin formulas contain the patented, proven NIA-114 molecule that powers up skin to repair damage and promote an ageless, healthy appearance.

Product Claims: Advanced Retinol Pore Refiner is a potent pore-minimizing lotion that helps to refine the appearance of enlarged pores while purifying, tightening and reducing the appearance of pores. As it hydrates and smoothes skin texture, it absorbs excess oil to control shine throughout the day for a fresher, mattified and youthful looking appearance.

Strivectin Review

Key Ingredients: Like all other Strivectin products, this contains the brand's patented award winning NIA-114 technology, a form of Vitamin B3 that nourishes the moisture barrier to provide visible age fighting efficacy. In combination with Retinol, the blend purifies and refines both skin tone and texture while promoting cellular turnover. Advanced Retinol Pore Refiner also contains skin purifying Oleic Acid, Apple Fruit, Rice Bran and Lentil Seed Extracts, soothing Willow Bark, and Salicylic Acid. This product also contains Dimethicone which lends a silky texture and finish. My skin doesn't have an issue with "cones" but I don't actively seek out products with them either.

Packaging: A straightforward metallic looking tube with an airless pump that dispenses the perfect amount of product.

Price: $99 for 1.7 oz / 50 ml

Strivectin Review

How to Use:  Apply all over clean face in the morning and evening. Use as the last step in your skincare routine. Apply after sunscreen for an optimal mattifying effect.

My Thoughts:I've used Strivectin Advanced Retinol Pore Refiner for about 14 days starting first at night and then also during the day. This lotion has a lightweight creamy texture with a barely discernible scent. It applies and absorbs smoothly with a matte finish and I swear it also gives off a touch of illuminating sheen. Since it doesn't feel all that rich, I was concerned that it wouldn't be moisturizing enough and it actually has been effective. It works well in conjunction with makeup, leaving my face shine free for hours without the use of any finishing powder. Retinol products used to be associated with redness, sun sensitivity and flaking. I didn't experience any of these issues or irritation to my dry sensitive skin but I will mention that I always use an SPF 30 sunscreen underneath it as well. One of the major benefits of this product is that it reduces pore size. Since I don't really have enlarged pores, I didn't see much difference but my complexion does appear more refined and smoother overall since using it. I also had my husband who does have more visible pores try it out and there was a noticeable difference with his skin after just a few applications. Though it's a little weird to apply it over my sunscreen, I prefer using this product during the day since it lets me skip the powder. This product is definitely on the expensive side and while it's nice and does what it says it will, it's not the ideal retinol product for me. However given how well it's work for my husband, he is continuing to use it regularly.

Strivectin Advanced Retinol Pore Refiner is available for sale through the brand's website. It also sold at Ulta and Nordstrom

I would be very much interested in trying this product as I have previously used StriVectin creams and found them amazing!

This is a great review, Rowena! It sounds like something I should try - even on the brink of my 30th birthday, I still battle enlarged pores on a daily basis. Thanks for introducing me to this product!

I've always wanted to try Strivectin but it is a bit cost-prohibitive. I've heard great things about the products though...:) I do have big pores, so this might be worth a shot.

Oh well how nice that the hubby can continue to use it! At least it's not a waste then.

Hi Rowena! Oh, this product looks like the perfect product for my skin! I have an oily skin and a powder is an everyday must. I cannot say I am tired of it, but I would definitely love to leave it for a while. I haven't used any retinol products in my life, but now I know that soon I will do it. $99 is pretty much indeed, that would be the only thing that would stop me from buying it. Have a nice day, Rowena! xo

Hi Rowena, well at least your hubby loves it ;-) I still haven't tried any retinol product but this one is too expensive for me. I would love to try a retinol product soon. Wish you a happy hump day.

I have some visible pores around the nose and cheeks so it would be ideal for me. The matte finish intrigued me, I always search cream with that result. Kisses Rowena! xo

Somebody I know uses the entire line and her skin looks very nice. I must admit I've been tempted, but couldn't imagine my life without my usual creams, so resisted for now. :)

I love Strivectin in general so it'll be no surprise that I have my eye on this now. I have been wondering about retinol products, I am thinking of jumping onto the bandwagon but I have no idea where to start, how it works or if I even need it.

Thanks for the review. Sounds like it's a good product if your hubby is still using it. I've heard a lot of nice things about this brand, glad to hear that they have other products in their line that's promising.

I was but then I cut back, I read some articles about it and now many dermatologists are saying it could really thin the skin with long time use. So I am on the fence about it now.

Very detailed review and it's nice that it has retinol; a great ingredient. Also, the price is not usually a concern sometimes so long as the product works well,

Interesting -- this might be a product worth looking into. I'm sort of thinking about incorporating some form of retinol into my daily routine. I'm relieved that you didn't see any sort of irritation -- usually vitamin A based products will do that!
I'm scrolling through your posts and I really enjoy them. You give really thorough and thoughtful reviews, which is what I appreciate in a good blogger. I'm officially subscribed and I'm looking forward to seeing more posts from you soon!

So, you use suncream even in winter season? I always read that we should do it, but I must confess I never do. Even in Summer, I often forget to put in on. Anyhow, it does sound like a great product. Retinol is supposed to be awesome for the skin and despite the fact it might feel odd putting it over sunscreen, I guess it is still a pretty easy when it comes to applying.

Interesting that it works so well with pores....and good to have feedback from both you and your hubby...that is like a double review. I always enjoy reading your reviews. They're very clear but also quite detailed.

Rowena, so sweet of you to try it on your husband - poor "Ian" ;)) A touch of illuminating sheen sounds really promising - such an interesting multitasking product. The price of $100 might be worth it! <3

I know you say I should try retinols but I haven't yet, and I have normal sized pores so this specific product wouldn't be helpful to me, especially at that price. I do see this brand at TJ Maxx all the time though so perhaps it's cheaper there. In the meantime, I'm working my way through eye cream samples. :)
