Dine Out : BondST

BondST is an upscale modern Japanese fusion restaurant situated in a stylish brownstone on a cobblestone lined Bond Street between Shinbone Alley and Lafayette Street. It is made up of three levels with a minimalist yet warm decor.  I first dined here at least 7 years ago and the experience must have been middling since I don't have much of a recollection of it but I do recall that this place was more of a scene back then.  This time we dined in the candlelit lounge which has a cozy feel with a laid back vibe. The menu features a range of creative cooked dishes as well as traditional and specialty types of sushi. We ordered a few appetizers including the Wagyu Mini Burgers, Red Snapper Tacos and Tuna Crispy Rice. I have a bit of an obsession with crispy rice tuna and it's something that I must get if it's on the menu. This one was totally delicious and did not disappoint. I also really liked the flavorful red snapper tacos. The sushi was very fresh and delicious. My only complaint would be that the fish in our toro scallion roll was on the cold side. Everything was very nicely presented. The service was also excellent. Our waiters were friendly and knowledgeable but not in an overbearing way. They definitely try to casually upsell you at every opportunity but there was no attitude if you don't go for it. Overall we had a good experience at BondST but for the prices they charge, I'd really expect nothing less.

The ambiance of BondST is gorgeous Rowena. I love brownstones! I can see why they do well, the food looked absolutely delicious :D Very well presented also! I love the white plates. HAHAHA I look at details. One hiccup (cold food is never good) but overall it sounds really nice.

I have never tried Tune Crispy Rice before but I'll look out for it the next time I dine in a Japanese restaurant. Is it a fusion food or it is widely available at all Japanese restaurant?

This sounds like a place that I'd dine at. Red snapper, and tuna are both my favourite types of fish to eat, in addition to halibut. Pity about the cold fish, but everything else looks and sounds delightful. Have a lovely week! /Madison

The food looks like art, and sounds like it tastes delicious, bar the cold fish!
I find casual up-selling in restaurants so funny, but even better if there's no repercussions of not falling for it.
Great post and look sand sounds like a great night out

I'm going to have tuna crispy rice because of you! It's odd that I haven't seen it on menus around Asia. Then again I haven't had nicer Japanese food in a while (*Sad*)
I'd definitely visit Bond St!

ohh, I think the food looks lovely and the ambience is quite relaxing and quiet, which is a good thing, actually. One can eat and talk more in such an easy environment. Too bad the fish in your toro scallion roll was a bit cold.. but it is nice to know that at least their waiters are not pushy in a way that they will show you attitude if you decline to order more *_^

My kids love Japanese food and Sushi, it't their dream one day to visit Japan! Hope you are having a great start to a brand new year, Rowena!

crispy rice tuna sounds fantastic! It is something I would love to try. Great to hear that sushi was great. I still haven't tried a proper sushi, but I love raw fish, so I'm pretty sure I would like it.

Thank you for sharing this dining recommendation. It sounds like a lovely place to eat.
