Look Great Without Emptying Your Wallet

Everyone likes to look good! It doesn't matter what your style is or what kind of person you are; there's nothing like knowing that you look your absolute best. Of course, for a lot of people, there's one thing that gets in the way of that more than just about anything else: money. The reality is that most of the time, looking good is going to cost you some money. However, that doesn't always need to be the case. If you're looking to save some cash while you strut your stuff, here are some ways to look great without emptying your wallet.

Thrift stores are your friend
A lot of people turn their noses up at thrift stores but they really shouldn't. The truth is that thrift stores are your friends and you can find some genuinely amazing things at amazing prices. The reality is that most people running thrift shops don't know or care where things came from before, so you could end up finding something that would have been incredibly expensive when it was new for only a couple of bucks. Sure, you might want to give anything you buy a wash before you wear it, but if you're not shopping at thrift stores, you might be missing out.

Avoid expensive salon trips
Sure, going to the salon to have your hair done can be wonderful, and it's often necessary when you want to try a new style, or you need a cut. However, if you're just going to have your roots touched up, then you could well just be wasting your money. You can almost certainly deal with your roots at home for far less money than you spend at the salon. Click here to see some of the very best root cover-ups that you can try. Pretty much all of them are guaranteed to be better value than paying out the nose for someone else to do it for you.

Keep your wardrobe limited to a few items
Most of us simply have far too many clothes. It's understandable how it happens since most people buy clothes with the best of intentions and also clothes shopping is just fun! However, if you want to look great on a budget, then one of the very best things you can do is to keep your wardrobe limited to a select few items that you can mix and match into a whole load of different outfits. You'd be amazed at how many different combinations you can get out of just a few staple items of clothing.

It's important to keep your finances in mind when you're trying to look good. While it may be nice to treat yourself every once in a while, the last thing you want is to end up getting into a dangerous position with your finances because you've spent way too much money on things that you didn't really need. For a lot of people that can actually become a real problem so make sure that you avoid letting that happen to you.

These are great tips Rowena! I was looking in my closet at some clothes I want to donate. I love to mix and match outifts! Being able to make some of my Winter Accessories (crochet hats and scarves) has cut down wardrobe costs too!

Words of wisdom, Rowena! It is easy to get carried away with shopping especially nowadays when everything is a click away. That is why it is important to be financially responsible. I agree with all your money saving tips.

I have never actually had my hair dyed at the saloon, when I do dye my hair ( I don't do it regularly, I don't have that many grays) I do it at home. I don't mind thrift stores but what I enjoy most is to rescue vintage pieces, especially from family members that would throw them away anyway. I've never really taught about it as saving money because I was just motivated by my love for vintage clothing, but vintage and thrifted items are a great way to save money.

I'm literally allergic to thrift shops, my mom have an older sister and she always had to wear clothes after her that's why all the clothes she got me was always new, when after many years she wanted to get me to the thrift shop I couldn't stand the smell - thrift shops here smells like pure chemicals and even if you wash clothes hundred times you can still smell it but I'm aware than in Western countries situation is different and some thrift shops have really nice and unique clothes. I keep buying clothes on aliexpress and similar websites - I'm quite small and buying items from Zara and other stores and then pay to make an item fitted to me sounds too expensive so I've started to order from Aliexpress or on sales from Korean online stores - the clothes really fits me and they are so unique! I used to go to the salon every time I needed to dye my hair but I've got a nice hairdresser who just told me to learn what hair colour other hairdresser used and what brand she used and we will figure out the rest - for a long time I was buying hair dyes on my own and I paid her about 7-10$ for her work (it's really cheap, usually in salon I had to spend 70-100$) but she eventually decided to move the salon so now I keep painting my own hair and I feel like I'm not that bad with it :)

Hands up that would be more me! Great tips. Oh I do well with color when it comes to salons. Haircuts? Not so much. Though I am going to start cutting my own hair so that should save some money!

I've definitely paired down my wardrobe. You can find some amazing things second hand. I usually shop via eBay when I'm looking for something!
