Every girl goes through the same stress when trying to pick out the perfect dress. What style suits me? How can I flatter my body shape? You want to eliminate the hassle as quickly as possible and finally find your go-to dress for all occasions. You want to be your glam squad, rather than relying on others for help and advice. This can now be your body type bible any time you are looking to find a new dress for that big event.
Choose a Good Store
When you're dress shopping, it is important that you trust the brand and store completely. Nobody likes dragging themselves from dressing room to dressing room, so shop online for the best boutiques with dresses. You can order as many dresses as you like and try them on in the comfort of your own home, without having the stress of a shop dressing room. Now you need to make sure you are searching for the right dress for your body type; see if any of these match your shape and you will soon know what to look for.
Pear Shaped
When your hips and butt are slightly bigger than your top half, you could be considered pear shape. There are so many amazing styles to suit your frame from princess dresses to strapless ball gowns. An empire silhouette can be very flattering since it will be putting all the emphasis on your best bits.
Hourglass
The beauty of an hourglass figure, is that you can wear figure hugging dresses that show off all your curves in the right places. You probably have a very defined waist, so choose a dress that nips in at the middle for the most flattering style. You might even opt for a two piece dress to accentuate your hourglass frame, but try to avoid empire line silhouettes and large gowns which will drown your curvy figure.
Tall
For all those ladies out there who are over 5’7” you should look a dress to enhance your natural shape. Many dress shops have a special tall section, which means they dress won’t fall too short on you. Avoid too much detail and heavy embellishment as this will detract from your gorgeous tall frame.
So no more stressing about choosing a dress that fits you perfectly, you can consult this bible whenever you’re feeling a little lost. Don’t forget that your body type can change over the years, so style that suited you when you were a teenager might be a no go for the present day. Ultimately, as long as you feel super comfortable in what you are wearing you will always feel beautiful from head to toe.

Petite
If you’re under 5’2” or you have a really tiny frame, you would fall into the petite category. You want to opt for simple and chic designs without too much fabric. A narrow or a-line dress would be extremely flattering on this type of figure, but steer clear from mermaid dresses and voluminous ball gowns which might overpower you a little bit too much.

It's so true that we look best when we dress to our shape! I definitely try to wear dresses and outfits that are skimming or fit and flare on my normal/petite frame.
Definitely will try to pay attention to these tips! xoxo
Comfort is key, I agree, but knowing your body type really helps.

This is great, chingu! As someone shorter than 5'2", I so agree about being careful when it comes to choosing dresses. As much as I love long flowy gowns and skirts, it's so hard to find one that will not drag and overwhelm me...huhuhu...And I so love that pic above.
These are really good tips Rowena! Thanks for sharing!
Very great information. I agree that shopping for dresses can be a hassle and trusting a brand or store is really very important like you mentioned. For me, quality, sizing and design go hand in hand and when I find a store that delivers on all three, I usually shop for all my pieces there; skirt, tops, dresses...
Great Post.
Great tips! I like shopping for dresses and as everyone I try to find ones that suit my body type. I used to be an hourglass in the past, but with weight loss my body changed and is no longer symmetrical, so now I have to really pay attention to the cut of the dress.
Oh thanks for share these amazing tips. I know that this can be very useful
