Self Control

Self control

Self control is such an undervalued trait in a society that shortsightedly overvalues instant gratification. People would be much better off if only they could realize it's profound importance in improving the quality of life for the long term. This can apply to actions like acting sensibly and responsibly during a pandemic to noy indiscriminately eating whatever you want to willfully wasting money on stuff you don't need, etc, the types of scenarios which can eventually yield regrets and/or negative repercussions.

An absolute word! Self control requires patience as well as discipline which a lot of individuals do not have. Everything is so instant and near, especially social media. instant gratification causes live long regret and disappointments. Patience is a virtue needed by all.
Another poignant post.

Amen, chingu. Lack of self-control really is such a sad thing in our society now:( I'm even guilty of it, especially when it comes to impulse purchases (art supplies will always be my weakness), and we all have to try to be better.

Well said! People often expect instant gratification with everything. There is no such thing as instant friendship, instant quality relationship or instant lifestyle. Everything worth cultivation and doing (from quality relationships to quality life goals) takes time, effort and patience.

This is such an important reminder Rowena! I've been trying more of a minimalist lifestyle. I have to admit clutter can cause me anxiety so every season I toss or give away things I don't need or use. It really does help!
