Despite not being to go for my Clear + Brilliant laser treatments this year, my skin has been actually improved for the better and is continually looking clearer and brighter. I am attributing this to the right combination of products as well as good habits. My skincare routine as always is targeted towards brightening and that includes liberal usage of sun protection, blue light protection and anti-pollution protection as well as products that promote luminosity. I tried to adhere to good habits like getting plenty of sleep, avoiding sugar and just watching what I eat overall which is just as important for my general health as well as the health of my skin. And I think not wearing makeup has also contributed to the improved condition of my complexion as well.
Retinol is one such product that improves luminosity and it is one of the most effective and potent skincare ingredient used to address a number of issues like improving the look fine lines, hyperpigmentation and skin tone among others. I usually suspend usage of any retinol products during the summer months but this year has been an unusual one to say the least since I don't go out anymore unless as I have to. Even when I do I make sure to not only wear a mask, I also wear SPF and a hat or use a sun umbrella. I began using this retinoid serum in August. Read on for my review.

My Experience
Peter Thomas Roth PRO Strength Retinoid Peptide Serum is light gold in appearance with a silky oil-like texture. It is fragrance-free with a slightly slick sensation upon application but it doesn't feel greasy. I find it does take a few minutes to fully sink into my skin so I usually wait a little before applying moisturizer. While the humectants in this serum do a decent job of preventing dryness, I find this works best for me if I layer on a good hydrating moisturizer like the Sulwhasoo Radiance Energy Mask (reviewed here) or the Inna Organic Revitalizing Face Oil (reviewed here) over it. When I initially used a lighter moisturizer, my skin felt a touch dry the next morning. After just a week, my skin was really soft, smooth and plumped and my freckles were becoming noticeably lighter. Because of the higher percentage of actives, I was a little concerned as I have experienced irritation and sensitivity with some retinoid products in the past but have not had any issues or breakouts since I've been using this exclusively in the evening for the past two months. This product replaced MD SUN Collagen Lift (which was truly transformational) in my routine once I was finished with that and I feel like it has performed just as well albeit in a slightly different way. I have tried a number of different retinol products with varying results and this is definitely one of the better OTC serums for promoting rapid cell turnover. It's a little pricey but you are getting a decent sized product and for me it would be worth the investment since it is gentle yet effective and provided visible results.

I didn´t have good results with granactive retinoids in the past, but this one sounds lovely. I will stick to my Tretinoin for now, but it sounds lovely for those that want a gentler product.
I need to try it.
Thanks for your review, my dear Rowena! I think despite the difficult time we still should allow ourselves to take care of us if we want. And now I want to try out this product as it sounds so convincing what you wrote!

I try only The Ordinary Retinoid serum and I wasn't satisfied with results. From PTR I have face musk and love it so much. Maybe I should check this product. Thank you for review.

Beautiful! Wearing less make-up this year has definitely helped a lot keep the skin more clean and healthy.
it's good you are noticing differences with this product and that it's worth the money for you! I have sensitive skin and the UV index can be high here so I've never thought about trying things like this as I don't need my skin to be any more sensitive to the sun, haha!
Hope you are having a nice weekend! :)

This retinol serum sounds amazing. It is wonderful that you're noticed an improvement in your skin, I know that you take a good care of it. I wish I could be so disciplined as to cut out sugar completely, but I try to at least limit my consumption to a minimum. I do agree that the combination of good habits, healthy living and a good skincare is what makes a skin look healthy & beautiful.
Another winning product from the sound of it...thanks for the heads up, chingu! Retinoid products tend to really break me out but this one sounds gentle enough.:)
Have a lovely Sunday:)
If it has Retinoid, I'm interested. Probably my favourite skincare serum along side Vitamin C. Completely changed my skin.
