Eye Candy : Ji Chang Wook For Singles

Ji Chang Wook absolutely smolders on the cover and in the pages of the inaugural issue of Singles Japan. The noir inspired editorial might just be a nod to his recent work in three noir thrillers - The Worst of Evil Gangnam B-Side and Revolver. Well it works because the the handsome actor dazzles with his captivating gaze and magnetic presence as he effortlessly showcases his modeling skills. This is truly one of my favorite editorials of his. I know I probably say that every time I post one but this one is just stunning. the styling is impeccable and every image is so artful and swoon worthy. I think the first, second and last are my favorites.

Chang Wook has defined the term "booked and busy" with his non-stop work which he addresses in the accompanying interview. The reason being he doesn't want to pass up any compelling projects as he also seeks to continue broadening his spectrum as an actor. As a fan, I can't say I really mind though I do wish he and his agency are better at choosing projects. His acting isn't ever the issue but some of his dramas just aren't all that well made. Welcome To Samdal-ri was lovely but I found the execution of The Worst Of Evil a little lacking even though the cast was excellent. And while I loved his dastardly turn as Andy in Revolver, the slow burn revenge drama of the film ultimately fizzled. I haven't watched Queen Woo or 

Gangnam B-Side because I didn't hear great things about either. The Disney Plus original series The Manipulated which is a series adaptation of the film Fabricated City does sound promising. It centers around a man whose life is destroyed when he is framed and imprisoned for a heinous crime. He seeks revenge when he finds out his downfall was set up. Yes the revenge trope is a tad played out but it can be entertaining if done well like The Glory which happens to be the second most watched Korean drama on Netflix. It’s an extremely satisfying watch which I totally recommend it by the way. As a long time viewer of K-dramas, it's really so satisfying to see them gain such a foothold in mainstream entertainment because the productions are truly superior to western ones. And another major advantage is that they are a fixed number of episodes so they don't drag on for years.
