Current Mood

Personal Update, Life Update, Mood Board, Currently, rolala loves

I can't believe it' summer already. We went from a relatively mild Spring to sweltering heat leading up to the season. It's been bad enough that NYC has been classified as a humid subtropical climate zone. I think it's gross and I get the irony in that the country that I want to move to actually features the same weather all year round. But weather aside, it would still be a much better place to live. What's new with me? I'm currently on jury duty and in the midst of serving on a three week trial. I can't talk about it right now so please just wish me luck that it might end sooner.

Reading...
Emily Henry books are usually light and fun reads and Funny Story is no exception. It stays true to her signature style of writing which is a mix of lighthearted rom com and introspective character studies with plenty of witty banter and an engaging plot. Funny Story an easy and enjoyable read which I'm having fun reading.

Watching...
Good Boy combines action, crime, comedy with a touch of heartfelt drama as former Olympic medalists become elite police officers to tackle violent crimes and cases filled with injustices by utilizing their  medal winning skills. Park Bo Gum usually has a knack for choosing compelling projects but this one is not one of his best. I mean it's entertaining and the concept is fresh but also frustrating because the plot is too repetitive and very unrealistic at times.

Listening to...
My husband and I have been working on our Mandarin Chinese fluency and literacy because we hope to move to Asia eventually. We've been supplementing our studies with this podcast which is a bilingual talk show that covers frequently used basic dialogues, words & expressions, language tips & social culture,  It's quite interesting and educational. I try to speak Chinese with my neighbors as much as possible and whenever I run errands or shop in Chinatown.

Eating...
I love a good niçoise salad because it's simplicity, flavor and nutritional value are great. But I have to mindful of eating too much tuna because of it's mercury content. Fortunately I can still enjoy this tasty French favorite by using salmon instead and I think I might actually like it even better. Who says eating healthy has to be boring or bland.

Drinking....
Strawberry Matcha Lattes
My drink of this summer has to be strawberry matcha lattes. I love a good matcha latte and drink them all year around. I stumbled on this version online and decided to try making it. It’s fruity and refreshing and tastes delicious. This latte is composed of three layers: macerated strawberries at the bottom, milk in the middle (I like almond), and matcha green tea on top. I macerate my strawberries with a little allulose  since I don't eat sugar and I like my latte at room temperature as I do most of my drinks because I follow TCM and avoid ice and cold drinks.

Wearing...
I bought this dress at a fabulous sale price awhile ago and it's finally gotten warm enough to wear it. The burgundy color and tonal shadow striping is very appealing and flattering. I adore the pockets and how the breathable 100% cotton fabric keeps me cool. So glad I sold my black Ellie Nap Dress that didn't fit all that well anymore and got this.

Visting..
My husband and I enjoy visiting our local museums during the warmer months. We finally got to the Noguchi in Queens and it was worth the trek. The Met is always great as is the Museum of the City of New York which is right by my favorite garden in Central Park. Looking forward to the Brooklyn Museum and the Guggenheim.

Loving..
I'm a big believer in at-home beauty tech to supplement my skincare routine and I did love using my Sculpt Skin Bar Facial Rejuvenation LED Light Therapy Mask until it stopped working. I did some research before deciding to replace it with the Solawave Wrinkle Retreat Light Therapy Face Mask. This FDA cleared mask uses red and near-infrared light to reduce fine lines, wrinkles, and discoloration. The flexible, medical-grade silicone hugs my face is comfortable to wear and the hands-free design allows me the freedom to move around while I have it on. My face is already brighter after using it for a month.

Chingu, you are back! I was wondering how your jury duty went. I can only imagine...they say unless it's one of those horrid crimes you're dealing with, it is dry. Glad to hear it's over. YAY:)
And thanks for the heads up on Good Boy...am gonna skip that one then. Let me know how you The Winning Try....hopefully, that's a better one. We stopped watching Strangers From Hell for now. My DD is watching Weak Hero again (she really loves that one) and trying to convince me to watch it with her...LOLZ...I can't believe how she's so into it now...and BTS!!!
Hope you're keeping cool:) XOXO

I watch crime shows/documentaries, but I've never read a crime novel. I love that nap dress. So pretty!

Good luck with the jury duty. I hope it ends soon.
The heat wasn't so bad this week, but next week it's going to be bad.
Thank you for your reading and viewing recommendations.
I hope to learn Mandarin some day, it is so musical!
