Chanel's Little Black Jacket In New York

SONG HYE KYO

This weekend I paid a visit to The Little Black Jacket: Chanel's Classic Revisited which is the accompanying exhibit celebrating the forthcoming book of the same name. Making it's second stop in New York after opening in Tokyo, the show features over 100 photos lensed by Chanel's Creative Director Karl Lagerfeld of various stylish global celebrities and models paying tribute to the fashion house's famed LBJ. It was fun to see the iconic black tweed jacket styled by former French Vogue Editor-in-Chief Carine Roitfeld in both classic and some really unexpected ways.

I liked how a selection of photos were blown up and presented in tonal color on the facing elevated wall. What's more they also offered three complimentary prints to take home if you were so inclined. The exhibit is being hosted at the Swiss Institute at 18 Wooster Street and makes it's run through June 15 in NYC before it moves onto Taipei. It was really hard to choose favorites but I particularly liked the Song Hye Kyo and Vanessa Paradis images. Here are some others I found compelling.

To see more, visit the virtual gallery on the project's official website where you can also watch a video that details the amazing production process of a Chanel jacket.

I can barely breathe just looking at these photos. I WANT that Chanel black jacket!!! My favorite has to be Ines de la fressange. Such a simple and chic way of wearing it. It's a little disconcerting seeing men wearing a ladies' jacket.

I actually really like the one of Song hye Kyo. Usually it would be because she's Korean, but in this case the photo itself is actually one of the best. Although it was hard to recognise her at first, she looks a lot skinnier?

Love from the NaNa girls xoxo

i saved some of those photos before when i came across them on the internet. i would love to see the exhibit, argh should have stayed late in ny after work and gone to exhibition, now it is too late. i love vanessa's also, so beautiful. i also love tang wei's and yu aoi's, not that i am trying to be some asian biased freak by choosing them but they look so elegant. i would definitely like a classic black tweed jacket myself, black goes with everything hehe
