Summer Dressing

Summer dressing for me literally revolves around dresses. For a lazy dresser which I admittedly am, the ease and comfort can't be beat. I'm also a modest dresser which means none of my dresses hit above the knee. I actually prefer midi lengths cause they're the most flattering and lengthening on me. No, I'm not petite in height. Since it doesn't seem to be a popular length, I'm generally on alert when any cute midi styles go on sale. I added these three to my closet recently and they're already in rotation since the summer weather is on in NYC. I ordered them all online for $48.99, $29.99 and $10.99 respectively. They all fit so it worked out pretty well. Any other fans of dresses in the summer?

So I realize that it's been over a week since my last post. I didn't mean to go MIA but some stuff has been going on. Being healthy really seems to be a challenge lately. I'm pretty much recovered from my previous illness though there are still occasional lapses of vertigo and/or tinnitus. At least I have some idea of the triggers now and how to avoid them. While I was dealing with this condition, I didn't even realize that there was an issue developing with my left shoulder and arm which has turned into something that can be simply termed as frozen shoulder. It is what it sounds like and I've been experiencing pain and a loss in range of motion. I started physical therapy recently and I'm trying to work through this now. At this point I kind of just want to fast forward through this year and be well again.

Hi hun, sorry to hear that you were not feeling too good, hope the shoulder heals soon. I am not so much of a dress person (probably because I am petite and I look like I'm drowning in maxis. But I do admire pretty dresses, like these, the middle one is so pretty.

That second dress is too cute! Can you believe I got 3 striped dresses on my last trip back to NYC? Oh stripes...

I hope the pretty dresses cheer you up whenever you eear them. I cant imagine having to deal with one health issue after another but i am praying they will quickly pass by. My mother in law always seems to have health problem all the time herself especially her bone which manages to crack after one another due to osteoporosis. I can feel her frustrations and she sure is so tired of it. Keep your spirit up Rowena.

I tend to live in shorts for the most part of thus summer. I would like to add more dress though because they are pretty and feminine.

Yikes Rowena, I'm so sorry to hear that! Please take care of yourself. I've been having some health issues myself the past few months. Didn't realize it at first but turns out I have Lymes...Glad my sister told me to listen to my body once she started hearing the symptoms I was having...Anyway, in any case, I really hope you feel better soon.

On a happier note, I absolutely love these dresses! I live in them too in the summer. Wearing a maxi today in fact :) I was going to run to UO at lunch because there's the big sale and I hope I find that dress!

I really am liking dresses too! :) All of them are a variety of lengths. Currently I am adoring high-low hems the most.~ I really like the flowy last dress you ordered!

I haven't really worn dresses much this spring. The weather is awful. I wish I could wear midi dresses. I'm so short that I can only do above the knee look.

I suffer from vertigo as well so I feel your pain. My last "attack" was when I was in Istanbul a couple of months back. It was pretty hard going at the time since it lasted for days at a stretch. Hope you feel better soon!

I love the first dress from J Crew. Summer dressing is so fun, for me I would say it revolves around shorts. I'm a shorts kinda girl. Thanks for stopping by my blog. You have a lovely blog as well, want to support each other by following each other?

I hope your shoulder gets better soon!!! It's about time your body gives you a break! I love all your dresses {the first two the most} and the prices make them even better. :) I don't really wear them myself but not for lack of trying.

I am getting close to the end of Office Girls and I still really like it. Given my track record I wouldn't suggest you take my suggestion but it's worth it. ;) Do you still like Big?

My sewing is a bit scrappy - I don't use patterns but probably should and if I was more patient I could be a lot better. I'm going to have someone else make my nice bag since they have a heavy duty machine but I'm going to make a tote myself and see how it goes. I think you should try to learn since it's not too difficult and I think you said you have a fabric stash, so you should start with pillows. I have been getting tired of poor quality things and even the pricy things aren't much better until you get to a level I can't/don't want to pay for so I'm trying to learn to sew clothes - which I refused to learn when I was younger. :)

Can you believe I have never been to Mood? I went to Jem {hated it}, a couple I don't remember, and Paron {loved it} and a couple of trim places {Pacific Trimmings and one near Paron}. I want to make a specific fabric excursion to Manhattan though some time soon and just take a look everywhere.

The scrub has been great but I'm going to try to make it with pistachio oil and shea/cocoa butter next time and see how that turns out. You should definitely try it.

Okay, novel over......:)

Rowena, I am so sorry you are going through all of this. I had a couple of years like that, but mine was due to a lot of stress. I had to get botox in my neck, back and shoulder blades. I had to use medicated pads, undergo physical therapy and take prescribed medication. It was awful. Then all of a sudden, it went away! Praying that yours ends soon and you get some relief. OK, my middle name is OLD NAVY this summer! LOL They've had some great sales and I've been taking advantage of them too. I LOVE ALL of your sundresses and I'm like you, they are so easy to slip on and off. THANK YOU so much for the link to that fabulous olympic editorial! I am so pinning them on Pinterest! HAHA You know what I like! ((HUG))

Aww, I'm glad to hear you've started physical therapy and I hope it really helps speed up your recovery so you can feel well again!

Since you're not petite, I take it that you're tall? You're lucky. I'm a shortie so only skanky cut dresses, skirts and shorts look good on me, even though I try to wear longer but it just ends up making me look homely or granny-ish, lol.

I love summer dresses, just need to get more summer shoes now. =)

I am in awe that you found these chic little dresses at such good prices and just did it all online--smart genius you! I need to be a better shopper, and like you am super lazy when it comes to dressing. Is it clean seems to be the most recent style question I ask myself. Of course I am constantly buying lots of white so it's an appropriate question--ha! I really hope you feel better soon Rowena, I know how much it sucks to be sick. Take it easy and hoping you have a wonderful pre-fourth of July weekend!
