Mascara is a make-up essential and I seem to be constantly trying out new ones in a quest to find one that performs. I've gone both the high end and drugstore routes and while Diorshow is wonderful, I don't really want to spend $$ on a product that I have to discard every 3 months or so. I've worked through the CoverGirl Lash Blast family and Lash Blast 24 HR is the winner in my book. I use the Blue Black and find the coverage and depth of color quite satisfactory. Wear and smudging have always been issues for me with mascara and I'm pleased with this product on both counts. I'm also impressed with it's ability to hold the curl of my stick straight lashes through the day. The brush is rather big with dense bristles so I usually swipe it with a tissue to prevent it from clumping. I'd say the formulation is close to Lash Blast Fusion in that it delivers length and volume though I do think it fares slightly better on the latter and separation is actually pretty good. 24 HR is an apt name since it doesn't flake or budge until I take it off. I thought it might be hard to remove but it comes off easily with my Neutrogena Oil-Free Eye Makeup Remover. It's not perfect but it does fulfill my mascara needs and the under $10 price tag is ideal. I'll probably still be on the lookout for the next best thing though. Drugstore.com is currently offering a buy one get one 50% off promo on CoverGirl products with an additional $3 off so I just picked up 2 for $9.73. Have you tried this product? What is your favorite mascara?

Super cool doll. I need to get a new one of these, will have to look into this one!! Hope you have a marvelous weekend!! xx
Hi Rowena, can i just say that I even more jealous ;) now that you made friends with Matt & spoke to him...please box him up & post him to me next time, haha. Its so cool that film right where you live! I like the idea of this new series, I have kinda found my mascara and stuck to that one only. Sadly we don not get Covergirl here in SA. Have a great weekend!
I've heard great things about LashBlast. I haven't yet tried it because I'm afraid to move on from one of my faves, which is the Maybelline Full 'n Soft. I'm all for drugstore mascaras - they're amazing quality! Why anyone would pay department store prices for a higher-end mascara is beyond me.
I want to try it! Thanks for the info!
Oooo good to know! I'll have to try this one out. I'm a mascara junkie! My fave is L'Oreal Voluminous Extra Collagen mascara. It's the best but I will def give this one a try! Happy Friday Love!
I am on a market for a mascara and your post came out just in time Rowena. My top criteria for mascara 1) must be easy to remove (it but smudge free) 2) must lenghten, add volumn and hold curls. I have yet to find my fave yet but will have to give this a try. Also heard great things about Maybelline. I used to buy L'Oreal but it was just okay.
I too dont want to spend lots of money on a mascara, well for makeup in general because i dont use them on daily basis but if it is for skincare products i am willing to invest more.
Haven't tried this one yet but do love their mascaras!! Great review!
Happy Friday!

I don't know much about cosmetics so I tend to rely on the recommendations of fellow bloggers. I'll try this. I need to toss out my own dried out mascara. I hope you feel better soon.
My little angel, thanks for your comment - good to hear you're taking it easy (and not busy taking gorgeous snaps of Matt Bomer)... ;)
I rarely wear mascara since I often go mad on the eyeliner, but wearing mascara would def. enhance my lashes... I'm also a fan of the Diorshow and am lucky enough to have friends give me them! But I also like high st/drugstore numbers like Maybeline collosal & Rimmel.
Have a chilled weekend. Thanks for introducing me to White collar, I've now got something else to sink my teeth into! Just waiting for the Amazon order!

Hmm.. not tried this. I normally use the clinique mascaras. They are quite good and love it. Thanks for sharing this. Might try is sometime.

I'm definitely giving this mascara a try. Great review!

My favorite mascaras are from L'Oreal, but I don't keep changing and trying new ones so I'm probably not the best to give advice xD
My Own Project
omi thank you so much. I am currently using that brand in the pink/green bottle (can't remember the name at the moment) and it's okay but i got brown by accident and also i have really sparse lashes. i am def getting this please keep doing these kinds of posts too!
This sounds really awesome! It's been a long time since I've given CG a spin for their mascaras. :D
I don't blame you Rowena! Some mascara costs way too much. I use Maybelline's Great Lash, but this sounds and looks even better. As you know I love product reviews, so I'm glad you're starting this feature on your blog. :D Have a great weekend!

I've always wanted to try the Lash Blast mascaras because of all the hype, but I've stayed true to my Maybelline Full N Soft for so long. Guess I should browse a little more :P
Oh and when I read "some of my favorite things," the Sound of Music just played in my head. And now it's stuck LOL (isn't actually a bad thing though).
As one who loathes spending big bucks on cosmetics, I have to say that I bought Lash Blast originally from a price point of view. I really do love it though and am a Lash Blast girl now too!
Hugs and a happy weekend to you, Stephie x
I have heard great things about this mascara. Thanks for doing this review. The price point is greet for the quality.

This sounds really great. I wish you a wonderful weekend.
I don't know, this mask... but I really like the mask of Maybelline!!!
Have a wonderful weekend, Rowena! and my G+ for you...

I just tried Cover Girl mascara of some type for the first time and it kept flaking off so I'd have to constantly fish black chunks out of my eyeballs. Gross. I used to use Maybelline of some sort but they kept discontinuing the ones I liked so I gave up on them. I'm currently making my way through samples of a Benefit mascara {which I really like} and I have a Diorshow sample {that I've tried before and liked} but I'm not sure which I'll purchase when I'm finally out. I've never actually purchased one that wasn't from a drugstore.
I think your comment about the markup is so funny and so true. I was looking for fabric for myself from Schumacher last summer and I tried to get a memo of something but they were out and I asked the price and almost passed out. I told them I didn't need the sample sent to me and tried to act casual about it. :) One house I worked on, the wallpaper was over $400 a roll. It was extremely beautiful and only in a powder room so there wasn't much needed but, wow.
I feel like all of the dramas have their moments where I want them to just get things figured out already, I'm impatient. I agree the lead female in Big is not that bright. Sometimes I just want someone to shake her. It would be nice to not have to read the subtitles, I made someone at work translate the opening song to Office Girls so I would know what it was about. I could only tell that she was saying the same thing over and over and I wanted to know what it was. Then again, I like that I can't multitask while watching the dramas and that is part of the reason I started watching them.
Hi Rowena!
Thanks for posting this! I'm using Dior now .. only because I purchased it on a special deal where you buy one, and then get one FREE. I agree. Mascara is one of those cosmetic items that it's just not worth spending lots of money on. I'm looking forward to trying this one!
Enjoy your weekend!

I haven't tried this mascara before. I think my favourite out of all the ones that I have tried is a Majorlica Majorca one (I forgot which exact formula though). I have pretty oily lids so most mascaras smudge but not that one.

i usually prefer l'oreal over covergirl and the orange tube of lash blast didn't work for me. i am certainly intrigued to try this one, though! you enabler! ;)
Hey there! Followed you over here from Kim's A Very Sweet Blog from our Margarita Bloom review! Just wanted to say Hiya! and thanks for the sweet words about our potions! So lovely to meet you! Feel free to stop by our blog to say hiya! You're always welcome! I'm always on the search for a great mascara!
Sounds good! I have to try it out!
I don't think I've actually tried Covergirl mascaras which is crazy considering how many good things I've read about them. But in general I prefer Asian branded mascaras because they work really well with my stubborn and fine lashes. Though sometimes they're a total pain to remove!
You have what it takes to make this blog a success!
I must try this out now ;)

Miranda
Very interesting! I tend to always stick to the same brand when it comes to make up but it's good to change sometimes!

Thanks for the recommendation! My current obsession is Chanel inimitable intense but it is definitely pricey! I will try this out!

Thanks for the insider knowledge. It's nice to see what that doesn't cost a fortune and I've been looking for a while.

Sounds like a great product! X
I love that you have tried all these products. I have such a hard time finding a mascara that I like. I bought an expensive one at Sephora but it smears so lately I've been using Laura Mercier, but would love to find a good backup. I may have to try this one out.

I'm always on the lookout for the best mascara for my invisible lashes, so thanks a lot for doing this post! I need to try some Covergirl products.
Hope you are doing well!

Macarons and Pearls
I'm a lash blast fanatic! It works so much better than the high end stuff. Rimmel makes great mascara too.

This is my VERY first CG piece and even better, getting it from you :-) I luv it and you are right, it delivers, almost as good as my favorite Dior and pair really well with the Blinc primer you sent me, for 1/3 of the price. Thank you baby sis! xx
