Christmas At Home

Living in New York City is great but one thing you don't really have in a 1BR Manhattan apartment is a ton of space. So while it would be cool to go all out on Christmas decorating, I keep it simple and easily storable instead. We have a cute 2.5 foot high pink tinsel tree that sits on our dining table. We don't usually eat on there but that's a story for another day. Hubster is awesome for letting me have a pink Christmas tree cause he knows how happy it makes me. Our stockings get hung on either end of our bookcase. Do you decorate for the holidays? How do you add your festive touches?

I want to say a heartfelt thank you to everyone who took the time to read and comment on the post about my health the other day. I know it's not what I usually blog about but it's a reality I needed to acknowledge. I tend to be the sort who internalizes things especially when I'm unwell and it's not the healthiest thing to do. Opening up about my condition was actually quite cathartic and I truly appreciate all your kind words and support.

Rowena, no need to thank us. That's what blogger friends are for, right? :)
And how cute is your tree. We have a house (albeit small), but ours is the same size too, as I still haven't gotten around to buying a big one after all these years! Eeeek!

I adore the tree dear, and I totally understand about not having too much space, we did that for years, and I was so happy to move in a larger place. You're a darling! Happy holidays! xx/Madison

Hi Rowena! You have the sweetest and nicest Christmas tree, and it is pink, my fav color, how adorable!:) Also the stocking with your name is just so tender. I think everyone decorates as they can, isnt really important if is little or big. I've made a Xmas tree and the Nativity, plus all around the home Ive put stockings, wreaths, Santa Claus and snowballs!^^ No need to thank dear, I really hope you get better soon and that the new year bring you the health you need. Happy weekend, Xmas is coming!:) xo

I know it hard to storage thing in Manhattan apartments. Love your sweet tree and your stocking its so cute. I decorate a tree but I did not hang stocking because when I get the dogs gifts it comes in a stocking shape so that will cause them to be confuse. Its okay to talk about your health if you want its good for the soul. Welcome to join my giveaway doll. Have a great weekend.

I like your modest decoration Rowena. You can still make your home cozy and festive with just a few items. I am not big on decorations for as long as I remember and my husband knows well. It can be a dreading task for someone like me.

Opening up is a good thing. You just never know how many people out there can benefit from what you share. We can always relate on certain topics or another. Get well and have a great Christmas.

Oh I just adore your tree! I totally get you about the NYC living situation! Back home, my parents bought a 9 foot real tree! We usually get one each year, and I love how festive it is. But in NYC I haven't had a real tree in 5 years!! I should look into a pretty fake tree like this! :) Happy holidays, Rowena!!

Oh yes small spaces we large city coast dwellers know all about that. You are going to love my post next Thursday. I know health issues are drag. In fact I have to have surgery on my sinuses due to an improperly done root canal. Oh joy not looking forward that.

That's so cute! At least you still manage to put your own spin on Christmas decorating.

We've got a big house with an even bigger yard, but we've never been the type of family who goes all out in decorating. The most we have in our house is a Christmas tree (real), which the kids decorate (this year their theme is color + DIY) and our stockings are just hung on the bookcase.

I've realized that you don't have to have Christmas lights coming out of your ass to be festive. Lol. As long as you feel the Christmas spirit, that's all that matters. Everything else is just fluff.

I like to keep my Christmas decorating simple. We always have a tree from the Christmas trees farm and in the past few years I've gone for white and silver ornaments. The rest of the decorating is kept minimalist too, pine cones, candles, mistletoe or branches in a vase in the hallway. Wishing you good health a very merry Christmas, Rowena!

Sometimes sharing a few things you think you should have kept private actually helps and makes you see them in a different light. I do hope the new year will be much more kind to you. x

I too don't have a lot of room to decorate. And my daughter insisted on a pink tree as well. I miss having the smell of a real tree, but we like having a pink Christmas! I love your pink tinsel tree, it looks great! Now I just have to find a pink wreath for the front door:)

Awww, that tree is adorable and perfect for an apartment with less space. This year my roommates and I opted out of getting a tree, but we strung Christmas lights up all over our living room and put several poinsettia plants up on our fire place. Seeing this post makes me so sad that the holidays are over!! I'm going to miss all the decorations and lights.
