Review : Sulwhasoo Snowise Ex Brightening Serum

Sulwhasoo Snowise Ex Brightening Serum Review, Sulwhasoo Snowise Ex

I'm pretty fortunate to not really have many issues with my skin but one thing which does vex me are the tiny clusters of freckles on each of my cheeks. Hubster actually finds them cute and doesn't understand why I don't but I just don't care for them. I do think they look cute on other people but not on myself. I've tried various whitening products and while I'm aware that they won't actually get rid of my freckles completely, I like that idea that they can at least diminish how they look while giving my complexion more luminosity. I mean who doesn't want more radiant skin.

Sulwhasoo is a Korean luxury beauty brand with a holistic approach to skincare that is based on traditional herbal medicine. The Sulwhasoo Snowise EX Brightening collection aims to clarify and even the complexion with an exclusive Snowise Tri-White Complex which includes white ginseng saponin, white cloud grass and white polysaccharides that was developed after 10 years of research.

Product Claims: A spot serum that targets and reduces the appearance dark spots and blemishes.

Key Ingredients: White ginseng saponin to prevent melanin generation by UV rays, mulberry root extract to purify and protect the skin from harmful elements and rheum undulatum (rhubarb) extract to prevent freckles.

Packaging: A pump dispenser housed inside a luxe feeling creamy white bottle.

Price: $170 for 1.1 fl. oz.

My Impressions: The product has the consistency of a milky lotion with a mild pleasant herbal scent that is reminiscent of ginger. I apply it after my toner and follow with moisturizer. One pump is enough to cover my face. It absorbs readily into my skin leaving it feeling cool and lightly hydrated. I had no issues with irritation of any sort and my skin tends to be sensitive. After almost a month and a half, my freckles have faded abit and my complexion overall appears brighter and clearer. I'm quite impressed with the results but I'm not sure if I'd purchase this right now as it's a tad pricey. I am definitely interested in trying some other products in the Sulwhasoo line as I do like how they draw on herbal remedies to nourish and balance the skin. Their Cleansing Oil and Overnight Vitalizing Mask are going on my list.

The Sulwhasoo Snowise EX collection (SRP $60 - $200) is available at Bergdorf Goodman, Neiman Marcus and through the company's website.

What are your skin concerns? Have you tried any whitening products? What were your results?

Disclosure: I received a complimentary press sample of this product. I was not provided any compensation and all opinions expressed are 100% my own.

Morning Rowena! Why do u dislike ur freckles? I also believe they are utterly adorable and cute!:) Btw, I know Korean beauty brands are really great and ones of the best on market. This product sounds very good, what a shame for the price! Actually, it could be perfect on me since I have dark spot cause the sun, Ive tried everything but in summer is always a trouble! Wish u a wonderful week my dear, many hugs! xo

Thanks for the review, Rowena! I've never tried any whitening products before, just prefer more natural alternatives, I guess. But that's just me. :)

OMG I have a jillion freckles! :) My mom told me she would take me to a doctor and have them removed for me for my birthday once! LOL I don't even notice them anymore. A holistic product for lightening sounds nice!

I have heard of this brand for quite a while but never pull the trigger to buy. Their products do sound and look good, Rowena. How wonderful it delivered good result for you. I would be upset if it didn't given how expensive it us. My concern is fine lines that appear deeper and more noticeable which I don't think any miracle cream can fix..haha. Gotta deal with it and age (gracefully) I guess.

Thanks for the review. I've always wanted to know more about this brand! Though, like you, purchasing a full-size is not in my budget at the moment but it's good to know it could be in the future for valid reasons! =D

I don't really have freckles but when I was younger I had some acne problems, so I really take care of my skin because of that. Have a great Monday! :)

Thanks for the review. This looks like an interesting product. I would love to try it, but have super-sensitive skin. Usually when products claim to "erase", that just means I end up red and itchy :(

This product sounds really incredible!...but my student salary wont let me get close to Sulwhasoo Hahaha! I have a problem with redness on my cheeks too so I am always trying whitening products...

This sounds great! Especially knowing how difficult it is to see any visible result from brightening regimen. :)

I tested a brightening product in travel size with no result in this aspect, I feel only the skin smoother.

Aww! I'm sure your little freckles are adorable! But definitely looking into this product! :) I have a few small sun spots from many years of practically living under the Hawaiian sun (yeah, and without sunscreen...huge mistake) - doing my best to try to take care of them now (and my skin, overall)!! Thanks for sharing Rowena, and hope you had a great weekend!

$170!!!!!!!!!!!! Rowena, it should've removed every freckle on your face! Gosh! I saw this brand, but I didn't realize how much it cost. I'm glad it diminished them somewhat. I have freckles underneath each eye. I've learned to love them. HaHaHa You can always use a concealer :) That's a cheaper alternative. Whenever I see the word "brightening" I think of my sensitivity to it, but I'm happy to hear you didn't have any problems. Excellent review doll.

I have the same thing and would like to lighten them too. Yes but sometimes it is better to spend more money on something that actually works then tons of lesser priced items that do not do anything. There are a couple super expensive beauty products I am thinking of purchasing.

I am very interested in this!! I have always been careful with my skin but years of playing outside have now left me with a couple of dark spots....and with turning 37 this fall I want to try to be on top of my skin and help it as much as possible as I age! (I can not believe I am going to be 37 by the way..HA!) I would so love to try something like this...thanks for sharing friend! Hope you are doing great and that you have a lovely week! Nicole xoxo

I really like the design packaging but the price point is an ouch factor. I'm currently using a whiten cream called Shiseido Lucient Moisturizer so far it help brighten my skin and also faded dark spot blemishes. The price point isn't so bad around $50 dollars.

Wonderful review Rowena and this looks like a great product. Lightening products are tricky .. with some working well for certain skin types and others not. The traditional lightening agents can sometimes irritate the skin so it's nice to try and learn about alternatives. Freckles are tough to get rid of;) xxleslie

I too have freckles..I never used to mind them but since pregnancy I've noticed darker skin pigmentation on my face and I don't like that at all! This sounds like a lovely product. I've never actually tried any whitening products before...they're not as common to find here. May have a look for this one when I go back to Singapore next month.

thanks for the review. I wonder can i find it here, Malaysia.

I can't stand my freckles too but I have too many now to be helped by whitening products. I must say this one sounds interesting though. Might be a good treat if I save enough for it.

BIKBIK AND RORO said...

Yes, for some reason we tend to find freckles on OTHER people cute lol! I've not tried any whitening things, mainly because I can't even get into the habit of applying basic moisturiser! They do seem kinda pricey too. Trust you are doing super, dear friend :)

Hi Rowena, I am so tempted to cut it all off, but then I think it took so much time and patience to grow it this long. Its a catch but in a year or so I will probably go shorter again. Thanks for stopping by!

Typically you can find dupes for high end products like this one. That's what I usually do anyways :) I have a few dark spots myself, thankfully they are not too bad but I want to take care of them soon. I also have what they call "number 11" between the eyes (basically just two lines). I think they are worse than everyone else of course. It is super frustrating because I am only 28. Primer helps to diminish them but I need to use some sort of skin care to take care of them. Grr.

I like freckles though! I find them adorable, and though I don't have freckles, I have these teeny tiny moles that form a small triangle on my face...and I find them cute, heh. :D
Sulwahsoo is a brand I've yet to try (DA EXPENSE), but I know it's a good brand, and I'll eventually get around to trying one of their products out!

I like freckles and I'm sure your husband is right on this! I have a couple of large ones that I would love to shrink or lighten and I think I found a mask that makes them a bit lighter but I'm not good about using it because I don't like the lavender smell. I might be better about it in the summer. I get so many, even with sunscreen, my face looks dirty.

I've been enjoying Emergency Couple lately. It's ridiculous but fun to watch. You know my bar isn't high though. ;)

Thank you for the review! Freckles are cute :D My mom has them and like you mentioned they never really go away, even with regular use of brightening products. But if you dont want more to pop up, it would be advisable to use SPF regularly (:

Am quite keen on trying out the other products from Sulwhasoo though-namely their Activating Serum and the Oil Cleanser. Have a good week!

Awww no! I think freckles on Asians are so cute. Lucy Liu actually have a lot of freckles, but she always covers them up. My complexion isn't totally even, so this cream sounds great. It seems a bit pricey, but it sounds like it worked for you, so it might be worth it!

Well, I do have to agree with you, Rowena, who doesn't want a more radiant skin? Glad to know that your complexion has indeed improved after use:)) We have this brand here in Malaysia as well. Korean brands have been pretty popular these days.

It does go on a slightly pricier range

hello, does anyone know if it is safe to use during pregnancy and or for breastfeeding mom? I understand there is alcohol in the ingredients? Any info would greatly appreciated. Thanks!
