Review : Amarté Ultra Veil SPF 50

Amarté Ultra Veil SPF 50, Amarte Sunscreen, Sunscreen Review

As summer soon approaches, I've been looking to step up my sun protection. Since Amarté skincare products like their Daily Wonder Cleansing Foam and Natural Finish BB cream have worked well for me, I was curious to try their new Ultra Veil Ultra Light Sunscreen Fluid SPF 50.

About the Brand: The word Amarté means "to love you" and the motto of the brand is "Love yourself. Love your skin." which is at the forefront of the products they create. Amarté marries the philosophy and heritage of Korean skincare with American dermatology and innovation to deliver a premiere luxury skincare line which is dermatologist tested and approved.

Key Ingredients: Ultra Veil offers broad spectrum protection through a unique formulation that blends physical (titanium dioxide & zinc oxide) with chemical (octyl methoxylcinnamate & octyl salicylate) sunscreen agents to create a physical aesthetic veil to protect skin exposed to sunlight. It also adds gingko biloba nut extract and five other botanical extracts to provide conditioning antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties that promote positive collagen and elastin balance along with caviar to nourish and purified elemental sulfur to calm and heal irritation, decrease sebum production and brighten skin.

Packaging: A lightweight buttery yellow plastic bottle with a twist on cap that feels secure enough that you wouldn't worry about tossing it in your bag. The product is dispensed through a nozzle tip which makes it easier to control and minimizes mess.

Price: $45 for 2.4 fl. oz. / 70 ml.

Amarté Ultra Veil SPF 50, Amarte Sunscreen, Sunscreen Review

My Impressions: The texture of this product is thin and almost watery which I didn't really mind since that probably contributes to it's weightless feel. It has a slight cooling sensation when first applied and absorbs easily with a non-drying semi-matte finish. It doesn't feel sticky or like a coating on my skin and appears imperceptible once blended under my BB cream. The subtle botanical scent is light and fades away fairly quickly. I've worn it on my face and neck and haven't experienced any irritation or reactive issues on my skin which can be sensitive. I definitely like that this sunscreen offers broad spectrum UVA/UVB SPF 50 protection along with a multitude of conditioning skincare benefits. I should mention that it is water resistant for up to 40 minutes. This product is also a winner for it's ultra lightweight non-greasy finish and ability to "play well" with makeup.

Amarté Ultra Veil is available through Dermstore.com and the brand's website.

Are you vigilant about sun protection? What products are you using?

Honestly, I wouldn't use it due to the fact that it contains at least two ingredients that may cause hormonal disruptions and, as a result, increase risk of cancer. Sorry for being the bearer of bad news, but when it comes to health, it's important to be aware, I think. x

I always use a foundation with at least SPF15. I think sun protection is very important year-round.

This looks great. My foundation usually has SPF in it. I like that it's light and fluid as my skin gets more oily in summer times. Happy Friday doll, I hope you have a marvellous weekend xx

I'm always interested in SPF product that offers broad spectrum! This product looks really great since it has that weightless feel despite the high SPF :)

Hi Rowena, yep Im vigilant about sun protection but to be honest I still have to start to use a proper one on face as the weather is finally very hot. USually I use foundation or cream which already have SPF so I skip the sun lotion itself just cause all the ones I tried (when I didnt go to the beach) are sticky and makes appear my skin more oily. This one sounds very good and thin, is important for me the fact the texture is that light. Happy Friday my dear, hope you have a wonderful weekend too! Many hugs! xo

That one sounds interesting. I'm currently using some hippie brand and it's been working well for me for me the past few years. I do really need to find better shampoo right now though.

I'm happy to leave all those clothes for you to wear, I think of them more like art of that makes sense. Maybe ABC had another restaurant in the basement with the same feeling? It was a couple years ago so it could have been something else altogether. I agree about the dance game though I'm sure that's not what they were going for any more than the 80s theme I was seeing. :)

Mmm a fragrance-less suncream? I'm in! These are so hard to come by and this sounds lovely with it soaking up into the skin so quickly. I hate the heavy feel of most suncreams that are like a thick layer on the face. Same goes with foundations. Rosemary x

I am so bookmarking this! Yes I love sunscreen and I only buy moisturizers that have it built though I probably should apply more! I let me skin get a hint of color but that is about it! And I like that this one is light weight because that is hard to find! Wishing you a beautiful weekend friend! Nicole xoxo

Beautiful product, Rowena. It sounds real lightweight. I am searching for a new sunscreen as the one I have now is a bit heavy and difficult to rub in. I wear sunscreen on a daily basis especially my face and neck. Dont care much on the body cuz I think I need more vitamin D anyway.

I have not heard of the brand before, but based on what you have mentioned, it does sound pretty nice to use! Love the simple packaging, though it does not look and feel like a korean brand though... but I guess what's more important is the content and what it can do for our skin. I love the brand's philosophy.

Hope you are excited about summer already! Have a great week ahead, my friend.

Cheers!

I like the Broad Spectrum Protection that you get with this and I always look for Zinc and Titanium as primary ingredients. Such pretty packaging too! Looks like a wonderful product and I'm so glad you are protecting your skin Rowena:):)

Ouuu, this sunscreen sounds really promising! My mom has recently tasked me with the job of finding her a good sunscreen, and I've picked up the Clarins one because it's super lightweight and dries quick and matte, but if I ever run into this, this is worth the look! (I just wish the better sunscreens weren't so expensive and came in larger bottles, ya know? ;-; [talk about a pricey fountain of youth, man])

I need sunscreen so much and high protection is always my choice because I have pale skin and don't want to get burned or risk dark spots, this product seems interesting because often sunscreen creams or lotions feel quite heavy on my skin, I would like to try it because a lightweight product is a must ! This sounds like a really interesting product because it has a matte finish. I always have problems with sunscreens being too oily and greasy for my skin. I need this in my life! :) Thanks for sharing.

I've never heard of this brand before but once you translate the motto, it sounds familiar. The way you described this product sounds like those drugstore Jap brand sunscreen like Sunkiller, Sunplay and Biore. I used to love those coz they do not feel oily and in fact it's watery and cooling but after long term of usage, I found them clogging my pores. Being un-oily and lightweight, it seems to actually have microscopic particles inside which clogs pores more. I often felt like my face still had a layer of microscopic stuff if I just use my normal face wash. Hence I stopped using those watery cooling suncreen after that. I'm not very sure if Amarté is similar. Do let me know your results if you continue to use it for a longer period.

I REALLY need to be better about sun protection and great products would help me out. I just noticed how sun damaged my skin looks when I saw some photos of myself! Being back in SoCal after living the "Twilight" life in Seattle is very different! I have a good Clarins sunscreen for my face but I'm not crazy about it. I should try something new like this!
