Dine Out : 15 East

15 East Review, 15 East New York

15 East has been on my list of restaurants to try for awhile now and I got to check it off after we had lunch there recently. The name of this restaurant which is a favorite among sushi lovers happens to be it's address. We chose to sit in the main dining room where the decor is elegantly low key yet comfortable. The atmosphere was also quite calm in there despite it being half-filled which was quite pleasant. My husband and I shared the Grilled Gindara - koi sake marinated black cod with uni sauce for our appetizer and the delicate mingling of flavors in the dish were excellent. We both had the Sushi Omakase which consisted of the chef's choice of seven pieces and a half roll. Both the quality and freshness of the fish were first rate. The service was also top notch. All this comes at a price as this is a Michelin star establishment. Our bill topped $100 and we were drinking club soda not alcohol. That said, we did leave there with happy bellies.

I went to 15 East a loooong time ago for a friend's birthday and loved it. The fish was so fresh. I also remember Owen Wilson came in with his entourage and sat right behind us. He's much more good-looking in person!

That looks like a really lovely place to dine in and the food looks scrumptious! I love Japanese food, it's one of my favourite and come to think about it, it's been a long time since we last had Japanese cuisine. Think it's time to nudge hubby for a sushi dinner.

I really like the simple and modern interior of this place. The food that you ordered looks definitely really tasty, too! Sadly, the price is not exactly what I would call budget-friendly :D

Yes, Sushi restaurants can be pricey but it 's a great splurge every now and then. The Cod sounds delicious as does the sashimi/sushi ~ roll ;) Fortunately our favorite spot is downtown and not easy to just pop in .. I'm glad because I'd be tempted to go more! Enjoy your evening Rowena!! xxleslie

Fantastic photos and review of this restaurant, Rowena. The price sounds a little steep for lunch, although I suppose if you enjoyed it that's all that matters! :)

This looks delicious! I read about this restaurant too and hope I can try it some time! The Michelin aspect always adds to the bill but at least this looks like it's worth the money.

There is TOTAL brilliance in naming a place based on location. We do takeout sushi once a week from our favorite place. Oh, how we thought we would never do such a thing...says former sushi snobs. LOL
