Exploring New Scents With Scentbird

I tend to be the sort who isn't very adventurous when it comes to scents. I fell in love with Stella by Stella McCartney on first whiff and have been wearing it for a number of years. When Scentbird asked if I would be interested in trying out their scent subscription service, I took them up on it since it would be a fun way to step out of my scent safe zone. Scentbird is a luxury subscription service that sends you a 30 day supply of a designer fragrance of your choice for $14.95. You start the process by taking a quiz which will create a scent profile and generate a list of personalized scent recommendations.
From my results, I chose Roses de Chloé which is described as an invitation to grace. Luminous and subtle, it inspires and evokes a unique facet of the signature Chloé rose. The fragrance exudes an immediate and incredible freshness derived from the top note bergamot. This sensation is gradually joined be a heart of the Damascena rose essence, modernized with a magnolia accord. The trail on the skin is of white musk and amber, the signature base of the Chloé house.

A case that houses the 8 ml perfume spray is included with your first month's delivery. It encases the spray entirely when not in use making it safe to carry around in your bag. To use, you simply give it a twist to access the spray nozzle. The idea with this is that you can just switch out the previous vial when you receive your next fragrance.

Roses de Chloé is soft floral fragrance that feels both feminine and classic. There is a distinct scent of roses which is really lovely and light making it perfect for daytime wear. It did become a tad sweet as it sat on my skin which I'm not crazy about but the scent also seemed to fade fairly quickly so that became a non-issue. I would use this but I doubt I would purchase it since this perfume retails for $95 for a 1.7 oz bottle. I still prefer my Stella more.

If you're wondering if you're getting the actual fragrances, you should know that Scentbird takes pride in only offering 100% authentic perfumes and they do this by decanting the fragrance from the original bottles into their purse sprays.

I think this service offers an affordable way to try out new scents and it's especially perfect for those who like to change up the perfumes they wear on a regular basis. The 8 ml size is supposed to deliver a 30 day supply but depending on how much you retouch or not, that may vary. Most rollerballs are about 7 ml to 9 ml so I would say that the amount you get for the price is a good value considering most rollerball cost upwards of $20. They have over 350 selections to choose from including many popular prestige perfumes. With a subscription, you can easily build a library of scents to try every month.

They offer a few subscription plans. $14.95/month to go month by month, a 3 month plan for $14.50/month ($43.50), a 6 month plan for $14/month ($84) or a year long plan for $13.95/month ($162). Gift subscriptions are also available and free shipping is offered at all levels. For now, the Scentbird service is only available in the US. To learn more visit Scentbird

What a nice service! I'm very particular about scents! I think lately I'm becoming more perfume friendly. At one point I only stuck with about two. LOL Now I'm liking more.

Wow, I've just heard of this recently and it sounds pretty good. A person's scent is special and I love trying out new fragrances, although I am quite selective since I have allergies. :)
Thanks for sharing about this brand. Happy weekend. /Madison

Hi, Rowena. Nope, I am not the type who sticks to one fragrance. I like changing my perfumes every day and I usually pick the one that best describes my mood of the day. That's why I would love to subscribe to a similar service. I have seen many subscriptions for make-up boxes, but this is the one for me! Nice review, Rowena, I enjoyed it a lot!

I also checked your guest blogger post. It was so nice to read more about you. I loved your daily routine. Sounds just perfect! And I have always admired your photographing skills, but I never knew you were a photographer! How cool is that!

Have a nice weekend, Rowena! xo

I love Rose de Chloe! I myself prefer this over the Stella (or any of her sisters), actually. Stella is gorgeous but it drops down to something heavy on my skin. Everyone says the Chloe is too light and doesn't last long, but it stays fresh yet lasts on me. Which is another reminder that perfume works so differently on each one of us.
The decant spray looks quite elegant and functional. A great option for scent junkies like me. :)

I don't know this but in general I like everything with bergamot.

What a lovely service! I really like this idea of a customer being the part of the process and getting to make decisions. You also described fragrances wonderfully...I'm not very eloquent when it comes to perfumes and fragrances. I'm never quite sure how to describe what something smells like. I'm a bit particular about perfumes, I don't like those that are too flowery or sweet...some even gave me a headache so sometimes I don't even wear a perfume.

This is the first time that I hear about such a service! Great idea for those who like to discover new scents. I tend to stick to my favourite ones but I should be more scent adventurous!

I think this is awesome!!! LOVE this idea!!! I am just starting to put myself back together after having the beans and one of the things on my list was to simply go out and find a perfume that worked for me. That is not an easy thing to do! Finally I found one at Anthropologie but as a busy mama I could have used something like this to make it easier! So thanks my beauty lady for passing this along!!! Have a great weekend you!! The only "higher end" perfume I really, really enjoyed and was I suppose my "signature scent" was the Harujuku line by Gwen Stefani. The scent in "G" was my favorite, and I always received compliments when I wore it. It smelled of coconut, hints of apple and other fruity/sweet notes; it wasn't too sweet and was just the right amount of sweet and fruity on me, that it didn't turn me into a teenager lol. Unfortunately the lines discontinued now. My favorite "G" scent was the Summer one. It was on a fruitier and fresh side.

I also have DKNY Be Delicious in Green. It's a bit too heavy for me sometimes, so I have to use it carefully (hubby has allergies). So I just stick to body mists; nice and light and fresh (specifically The Body Shop mists).

This is a great way to try out scents without forking out the money for the actual size. I'm not one who stick to one scent for a long time. Whatever that comes and I like the scent, I will purchase the smallest size they have.

The concept behind the company is so brilliant, what a fantastic idea! I find I'm far more experimental with regard to scents during the warmer seasons of spring and summer, so this really does sound very appealing. Lovely decision in choosing a Chloé scent by the way :)

I am totally fascinated by scents and the psychology behind them so "scent profiling" sound so intriguing! I saw Chloe in the photo and it caught me. I have been wearing that for years (hiatus since Grant was born except for a couple of dates). A woman I worked with wore it and I had scent envy. Finally I asked her what she had on. Before that I was wearing Issay Miyake and Chanel Chance, both of which no longer fit my personality. HA! I have GOT to smell Stella now! I think is says so much!!! So much that I'm a commitment-phobe. I want to properly represent myself. A subscription is brilliant.
