A Tale of Chanel Couture

Vogue UK went behind the scenes of the Chanel atelier as the fashion house prepared for their absolutely enchanting Spring/Summer 2015 Haute Couture collection. Almost 5 million sequins were used for the 73 looks that were sent down the catwalk. 100 seamstresses labored tirelessly for a total of 22,000 hours over three months. 2,000 of those hours alone went into the final bridal gown. Karl Lagerfeld created each look in a sketch which was then assigned to a seamstress by his studio directors. One seamstress was responsible for each piece while the bridal gown took three. The results were both exquisite and extravagant as every layer and detail in a couture piece is like art in itself. These dreamy photos by Benoit Peverelli provide just a glimpse of the stunning collection. If you haven't seen it yet, you can view it in it's entirety on the Chanel site. What are your thoughts on this collection?

This is why Chanel is a classic - their attention to detail, to exploiting the tiniest dots on the fabric and really making it into something magic. If I ever become in the position to collect art I think I will just buy off the run way and just have a room of 'costumes'.

Gosh, the whole collection is just so enchanting and dreamy! Being a makeup addict, I am taking note about the models makeup too. I love how natural the whole face is, I don't really see any eye makeup but just a natural, rosy glow all over the face and a bright lip. Gorgeous!

The collection is utterly fantastic and nothing short of what I would expect when it comes to Chanel couture! I adore the thin spaghetti straps on the back of the black cocktail dress - thanks so much for sharing these imagines, Rowena! :) Also, whilst I'm here I'd love to thank you for all of your help in the lead-up to the transition to my own domain, you've been tremendous!!
