20 Facts About Me

I was tagged for this by Jo on Instagram and I'm usually terrible about tags but I thought I'd try to do this one on here.

1. My name means "famous friend" and my Mom got it from a book of names. For the record, I hate being called "Ro"

2. I lived in Taiwan for a few years as a child and my first language was Mandarin.

3. I have the ability to turn off my sense of smell.

4. I cry fairly easily when watching tv and movies.

5. I'm a baseball fan and my favorite team is the NY Yankees.

6. I don't like when people I don't know touch me.

7. I'm not a fan of ironing and prefer to steam my clothes.

8. I'm a modest dresser and have been wearing midi lengths long before they were popular.

9. I think flip flops belong only on the beach.

10. Cleanliness and organization make me happy... like really.

11. I collect Kodak Brownie cameras.

13. I don't drink coffee or alcohol because I don't like the taste.

14. I can't have caffeine after 4pm or I won't be able to sleep.

15. I will pretty much always choose savory over sweet since I try not to eat sugar.

16. I have a fear of heights and being confined - that's acrophobia and claustrophobia.

17. If I could have any super power, I'd love the ability to teleport.

18. Bad/offkey singing gives me goosebumps.

19. I have the name my husband and I call each other inscribed on the inside of my wedding band.

20. I have an extreme aversion to other people's feet and pigeons. If you post pics of either, I might unfollow/not follow you. It's not personal, it's just we all have things we'd rather not look at.

I'm not going to tag anyone but if you'd like to do this, let me know and I'll come read it. In the spirit of disclosure, why don't you tell me something about yourself.

I agree with Amalia, no.19 is very cute. My husband and I, like most people, have our names not our nicknames inscribed, but your idea is more cool. We do have nicknames (lots of them) and almost never call one another by names.

I wish I had your ability to turn off smell. Unpleasent smells often drive me crazy, I also hate those frangrances that are used in supermarkets and shops, they make me literally feel like I'm sufficating.

My name doesn't have a very interesting history. Like most western names, it comes from Hebrew (i.e from the Bible)....The English version of my name is Joan.

Bad singing drives me crazy too but I don't have any aversion to feet or pigeons.

Teleportation is one super power I would love to have...It would made my life so much easier as right now I live in different cities. Hey, maybe they invent in one of these days. Supposedly, Tesla managed to teleport an entire ship...but I think that's an urban legend.

Yay! This is a great start to Monday morning by knowing you a little better. Like others here, I wish I have an ability to turn off my sense of smell, it would have been super helpful in a packed train after working hours. LOL! And the only time I can have coffee is very early in the morning when I first wake up, anything after that will trigger off my insomnia big time. :-/

I was tagged by Jo too and I should really get to this. xx

I always enjoy posts like this, because we get to know a fellow blogger a bit more. Turning off sense of smell? That's impressive. I love my steamer too, as I am not a huge fan of ironing. Oh, the irony, can you imagine me in design school? I was really the only one with a steamer, haha. <3 Have a nice week.

I don't like the taste of alcohol either, so I hardly ever drink, and if I do, it has to be mixed with something so I can't taste the alcohol. I do like coffee, but I only drink it for the taste because it doesn't help me stay awake.

Hi Rowena,

Lovely to know more about you and this is a great post.
We have been trying to give up sugar too and feel better for it. Jandals (flip flops) are a common type of footwear on the Island, but would never ever wear them in the City.
Have a great week

#19 is absolutely adorable and so sweet! ^__^ A fact about me; when I was little I had a multitude of dreams and ambitions; at one point I wanted to be President, another point, I wanted to be a detective, a doctor, a lawyer, a CEO of my own company, a chef, an artist, and a musician and much more. XD Some of these things I still dream about as an adult. ^^;

PS - I thought flip flops everywhere only bothered me, I'm so glad I'm not alone. lol

I adore tags like this where I get to know people better. So fun.

I think it's fascinating you can "turn off" you sense of smell. If only I could learn how to do that. It drives me nuts to smell certain things like people smoking. Especially when they smoke and walk. I have to basically run past them to stay up-wind of the smoke. haha.

Hehehe this was awesome. I'm curious, is there a nickname you do have that people call you? I'd never thought about it before but it seems like "Ro" is what everyone would conclude to. I also cry at movies and stuff, but it doesn't end from there. I've become super emotional the past decade, I feel like it get's worse and worse as I grow older. And I'm not a big coffee drinker period, I have to be really craving some to have a cup. That said I never drink after midday. Just to be safe because I need my sleep at night and my mind interferes enough as it is, it doesn't need anymore help.

Yes to 4 and 6, I have a hard time on the subway. How do you turn off your sense of smell? I apparently have super-smelling powers so that skill would come in handy. :) I think sometimes the white pigeons with a teeny bit of gray are cute but maybe you won't agree with that.

Teleporting would be wonderful.

Yassssss, loved reading this since I feel like there's a shortage of 'personal' posts on here!
I know we established your hated/fear(?) of feet a while ago, BUT YES I AGREE SO MUCH. And flip flops are just hideous--THEY BELONG NOWHERE, TBH. (But I quite like pigeons, soooooooo)

Teleporting would be my ideal superpower too. I mean, prices for plane tickets are just outrageous. AIRPLANE COMPANIES--IT'S TIME TO START INVESTING IN TELEPORT TECHNOLOGY, AITE??
