Through My Lens : On Instagram

Flower Blossom, Sakura

These are still photos of life recently but I changed the title since they're now a selection that first appeared on my Instagram stream. Actually my Instagram feed is pretty much just an extended version of these posts as pointed out to me by a friend. I'm @rolalaloves and you can find me here. We're finally seeing some signs of spring in NYC as one of the trees in the garden downstairs started blooming this week and it's so pretty!

Snow in NYC
This was the tree next to the one that just bloomed, covered in snow a month ago.
New York City Skyline
This view uptown of the the Empire State Building is one that I will never tire of.
New York City
Walking through midtown Manhattan is always interesting and on one morning, a mysterious fog was wafting through the air creating a really cool atmosphere.
Portable Charger
This Linkon power stick is a new addition and such a great way to charge my phone on the go.
Forever 21 Pouch
Yes I do actually purchase items from the wish lists I post. This pouch is as cute as I thought it would be and I've included one in my Spring beauty giveaway which you can enter here. I tried a sample of the Sunday Riley Good Genes and liked it enough that I purchased the full size. I will post a review of this product soon.
Dim sum delivery, Jing Fong Dim sum
We use online food delivery service Seamless whenever I don't feel like cooking and recently discovered that we could get dim sum delivered to us which is all kinds of awesome since it means that we don't have to wait on line with the crowds. It's not quite the same experience as ordering these dishes off carts that are pushed around but I could get used to this. Everything was still warm when we got it but we also don't live too far from Chinatown.
Japanese vegetable stir fried udon
We eat vegetarian a few nights every week and yasai yaki udon (Japanese vegetable stir fried udon) is a dish currently in rotation. I've been asked for a recipe for this and I'll try to put one together.
I've been in need of a hair cut and it's almost like my hair knows because it always seems to start behaving better. I took this pic a few days before the chop. This is probably the closest I'll get to posting a selfie on Instagram by the way. I also don't post blurry photos of food or food that looks like throw up. Seriously, I had to unfollow someone for posting pukey looking food pics. No one wants to see that.
Ranunculus Flower, Floral Beauty
A shot that didn't make it into my ranunculus study. I can be a very discriminating editor when it comes to my own photos but I think I do quite like this one. This was shot on my iPhone and minimally processed - the only thing I did to it was darken up the black background. I've been using my phone camera more lately as I do believe that good lighting and composition are more important in creating a striking image than the camera itself.

Yay for eating vegetarian every once in a while! That dish looks great :-) I also loved the snap of the snow-covered tree. I just realized I wasn't following you on IG yet but I will now.

I've seen these photos on your IG profile and I must say I love when you post photos of the city, food and blooming trees! Recently I realized that the weather over there is the same as here. I am a little bit disappointed that it's snowing in April this year. I agree that sometimes you can take a really good photo with your phone, just like the last one in this post. Have a good week ahead, Rowena! xo

Hi Rowena,

Gorgeous gorgeous pics! yaay, finally, spring is arriving over there, been trying to see when the flowers will bloom at where you are *_^

OOooooh I love that fog tinted NYC pic. Really nice!! Of course, the rest too. That charger of yours looks sleek. I have something like that myself but more plain looking, heehee.

Hmmm, your dim sum order looks quite delicious and convenient. I always have days that I don't feel like cooking, oppss!!

Hope you will enjoy your warmer weather there and yay! you are finally on IG. Welcome on board the fun ride. I am somewhat addicted to IG! Okay, not somewhat, I am addicted. So much talent and beautiful things to see there.

Have a great week ahead, my friend.

Big hugs,
Jeann

I do like the last photograph...too bad it didn't make the cut. I think we're often our own hardest editor. Such a wonderful selection of imahes, I really like all them all...the food looks yummy (and I don't understand why someone would post bad looking food either and I can understand how that can make you unfollow someone)...and speaking about food, today at the Chinese restaurant here in Split, I tried duck for the first time...I can't believe it took me that long to try it:)

The photo that especially got my attention is the one with the fog...it really does look mysterious...and the one with the snow is so beautiful!

Beautiful photos! I love the photos of the city, something that we don't get much of around here. My son loves tall buildings; he can't get enough of it :)
So cool that you can get dim sum delivered. I love dim sum, but the long lines have kept me away from time to time. I'd order it in a heartbeat if that's available around here.
