VO5 Anti-Frizz Haircare Giveaway

There are many great things about summer but one not so great thing is how the heat and humidity can draw out the frizz in my hair and make it look like I'm wearing a helmet at times. This is not attractive since my hairstyle is an a-line bob which just calls for sleekness. I've pretty much learned to accept my hair's natural wavy texture cause it just sneaks out anyway but frizz is something I refuse to abide by.

I normally use a combination of products to smooth my hair. I tried out this VO5 system alone without using any of my usual products so that I could give a fair assessment on how well it works to calm frizzy hair and you can see the results below.

Hot Oil Therapy Treatment

This product has been around for a long time and I remember my mom using it when she had long hair many years ago. This pre-shampoo treatment is recommended for eliminating frizz because it conditions from roots to ends to smooth the hair cuticles. To use, you place the tube in warm water for a minute to heat it up before applying to your wet hair. The recommended treatment time is up to one minute and then you rinse it out and shampoo. This is a slick feeling oil that was easy to apply and my hair felt really soft and silky after rinsing it out. These are supposed to be single use tubes but half a tube is more than enough if your hair is short so I just taped up the other half and stashed it in a ziplock bag for another use.

Smooth + Sleek Shampoo and Conditioner 
These products are part of the VO5 Salon Series and contain the brand's proprietary 5 Essential Vitamins along with a unique blend of 11 lightweight, natural vitamin oils. This particular shampoo and conditioner are specially formulated to address frizz for smooth and manageable hair and recommended for hair that is coarse and dry. My hair can be both. The shampoo was moisturizing and left my hair soft and the conditioner smoothed and detangled effectively. One thing I didn't care for was the scent which is kind of fruity and sweet and too strong for my liking. 

Shine, Glow and Go Beauty Oil
This paraben, silicone and dye free hair and body oil is made up of an all-natural, proprietary blend of oils including argan, macadamia, sunflower, shea, grapeseed, and coconut. I spritzed a a few drops into my hair after washing. It didn't weight my hair down and made it easy to blowdrying. I liked that it didn't feel greasy and based on the wet feel and results I'd liken it to Redken Diamond Oil Shatterproof Shine which is lighter than Moroccanoil. I also tried it on my elbows and knees and it also works well as a body moisturizer, absorbing into the skin quickly while leaving a subtle sheen. This product has a floral and nutty smell which I didn't particularly love or hate. For the record I generally prefer unscented products.

Overall I was pleased with my how this system tamed the frizziness in my hair considering how humid it's been lately. I liked that my hair felt clean and manageable after the hot oil treatment, washing and conditioning and how it was shiny, smooth and frizz-free after styling. I also liked that this sleekness lasted even on the second day after washing when this picture was taken and the humidity was at 70% outside.
