Current Mood

Drunk Elephant Babyfacial, Drunk Elephant

Obsessed... with Drunk Elephant T.L.C. Sukari Babyfacial. This was my lone purchase during the recent Sephora VIB sale. It's a clean beauty product that gives you baby soft skin just as the name suggests. This mask is so fabulous that I always look forward to using it (1x/week).

Listening... to vintage Jay Chou 周杰倫. Seven Mile Fragrance 七里香 is my favorite song. His current music just doesn't resonate the same way.

Reading... Food52 Mighty Salads by Editors of Food52 and looking forward to trying out the recipes.

Watching... The Night Of. I'm not usually a fan of crime dramas but the plot of this one is compellingly and intricately constructed and well acted. I think limited run mini series are the way of the future.

Crushing on... Riz Ahmed whose performance in The Night Of was totally transformative. No surprise he was recently named one of Time magazine's 100 Most Influential People. His talent, intelligence and activism make him very attractive and Riz is pretty easy on the eyes as well.

Eating... bread at home again since I discovered Dave's Killer Bread which is organic, non-GMO and packed with protein and fiber. I'm partial to the 21 Whole Grains and Seeds which is perfect for avocado toast and BECs.

Planning... our vacations for this year. We're thinking of going on two Stateside trips. Despite being US citizens, we just don't feel comfortable leaving the country right now while 45 is still around.

Excited about...  the Yankees being in first place even though it's still early in the season. They've played much better after a rough start. Aaron Judge has been a big contributor and his humility in the wake of his success is so refreshing. He's drawn some comparisons to Derek Jeter for that. I always thought Jeter was more measured and calculated while Judge comes across more genuine. Either way he's someone who's easy to root for.

Wasting time... on Parts Unknown, the companion website to Anthony Bourdain's CNN show of the same name.

Running back and forth... taking care of my mom after her shoulder surgery. She's recuperating well after getting her stitches out earlier this week but her arm is still in a brace and she's not supposed to move it for a few more weeks so I've been helping her out.

Celebrating... my husband's much deserved promotion. He just became the youngest director at his firm. I'm so proud of him!

What's up with you?

Oh, congrats to your husband, and it is so nice to hear that your mother is on the mend, even if it takes a little longer.
We are about to go on a mini vacation next week, staying in Germany, and I am really looking forward to it. We just have a few days off and didn't want to have to travel a long tome with the kids.

Congrats on the promotion of your hubby, Rowena! This is very cool and I wish him lots of success in the future. I am interested to know where are you going on a vacation soon. The US are big and there are many possibilities. That bread sounds very delicious, and although I don't eat much bread, I'd love to try the one with the seeds. Happy Friday, Rowena!

I love crime dramas, esp the British ones, well the night of is based on the British criminal justice one, anyway it's not bad at all, love it. Aaron Judge, yeah well, I have to admit he is quite brilliant. I still remember last September his moonshot home run against the Dodgers, we lead 6 to 1 when that guy blow the ball well.....just wow! I have to give him that. Happy Friday, Rowena.

The Night Of, yes I heard of this. My coworkers always talk about this. I wanted to watch it but for life of me I could not keep the name of it in my head. Now I will remember it!! And I think I mentioned this before but I would be Drunk Elephant just for the name alone. And this mask sounds amazing.

Oh congrats to your husband on the promotion! I've been wanting to try anything from drunk elephant (preferably their serum) but I keep putting it off because of the $$$. I've just finished watching Big Little Lies and loved that series. I do agree with you on the mini series being the way of the future too. Dragging shows is so unnecessary.

Hope you're staying cozy and warm this weekend! This weather is rather insane and disgrace to May (pouts), but we're still enjoying good food and had a chance to go see Guardians of the Galaxy Vol.2 (fun!). Meeting up with you for that nice event certainly made the highlight of the last week. "The night of" is so great, isn't it? I remember looking forward to it every time and wondering how this complex drama could possibly end in such small number of episodes. I LOVED the ending, btw.

Wish you and your family a great week ahead! :)
