Current Mood

Reading... When Life Gives You LuluLemons. This hilarious sequel to The Devil Wears Prada which finds Miranda Priestly's catty assistant Emily Charlton in the suburbs of Connecticut is the perfect light, summer read. Once again it delivers a lesson that things aren't always as they seem on the surface.

Watching... Queer Eye Season 2. We loved the first season of the reboot and this keeps the good times rolling and the tears rolling. The spirit of humanity is still the best thing about this show. They could've done better with one episode that featured an entitled pathological liar who came off like a total scammer. Surely there was someone more deserving. Hopefully they will do a better job of vetting next season. And my husband is such a fan of the French tuck now. Thanks Tan France!

Listening...  to the R2C2 podcast.  It's no secret that I'm a big Yankees fan! This podcast which pitcher CC Sabathia does with Ryan Ruocco is a fun listen especially when they manage to get CC teammates on there. Okay I might only listen to those episodes.

Obsessed... with Trader Joe's Green Goddess Salad Dressing. I usually concoct my own salad dressings but green goddess is more work than I like. This is a vegan dressing made with avocado, green onion, chives,  basil, parsley, garlic, lemon juice, apple cider vinegar, & olive oil. These are simple clean ingredients I would use myself. The flavor is amazing and two tablespoons is only 20 calories. I like it straight up but my husband finds it a little tart so I mix in some Japanese Kewpie mayo to tone that down and add a little creaminess. The flavor is even more bomb this way.

Eating... rainier cherries.  So refreshing and delicious. Cherries are on the dirty dozen so I do buy the organic ones.

Drinking...  guava tea. I used to drink this regularly and came back around to it again. Guava tea is rich in antioxidants and excellent for detox and regulating blood sugar. I drink it hot. I actually quite like my hot beverages during the summer.

Not... quitting sheet masks any time soon. While I may not talk much about it I have kept up a regular habit of using sheet masks 3 - 4x weekly. I feel like my skin has seen real benefits. I'm currently loving the Polatam Water Gel Extra Force Sheet Mask Set. I picked up a few sets on sale and think I may get a few more.

Wearing... these floral printed silk pants non-stop since I got them from J. Crew. They are seriously chic, not to mention comfy and easily dressed up or down. I also recently added this sweet dress and lovely Rebecca Taylor silk top to my summer wardrobe.

Seeing... more Broadway shows. My husband and I were talking about how we don't take enough advantage of all the incredible culture in NYC so we're going to take in the theatre and visit museums more often. We saw Kinky Boots last weekend and it was marvelous. It's based on a true story and the songs written by Cyndi Lauper were incredible as were Neon Trees' frontman Tyler Glenn and J. Harrison Ghee who star as Charlie and Lola. I loved Lola and Raise You Up was my favorite number. The underlying message of acceptance is also so uplifting and needed right now. Fingers crossed we win the Hamilton lottery one of these days.

Those J Crew silk pants are pretty rad! And I've been meaning to read that Weisberger book because I love her other ones (even the Prada sequel...hahaha) so I'll definitely add this to my TBR list:)
Happy Monday!
PS Thanks for the reminder that I should start doing mask sheets again, chingu!

Hey, I'm back!

I'd like to try that guava tea and I do face masks but I should try using the sheet ones more. That book sounds great, too, and I'd love to see Kinky Boots one day.

Oh yeah lose fitting floral pants are a no brainer for summer. Funny I love the movie The Devil Wears Prada, and watched it for the umpteenth time Friday night. Though makes me sad as how much as changed in the magazine industry since 2006. And I think the direction and the cast did a stellar job, a classic for sure.

But I HATED the book. I thought it was boring (the majority of the book are angry inner tirades in the main characters head. This got boring fast. Also very very contrived. With characters going in an out of character just to push along a non believable plot.

I did not have sympathy for main character at all. She came across to me as psyduo intellectual entitled elitist. And the under lying message that women should embroil themselves in their friends drama instead of focusing on their career. And you can't have a mate and a career as woman. Lame. If the film was made exact to the book it would have flopped at the BO and been panned by critics. In fact the scene where Meryl Streep goes off on the Ann Hathaway character about her blue sweater is a direct send up to the book and kind of a middle finger to the whole pretense of the book.

So yeah as you can tell I really hated the book and have no desire to read anything by that writer. But it did lead to a great film that is destined to be a classic so it is not all bad! I also hated Gone Girl...don't even get me started hahaha.

I've been sooooo wanting to see the Queer Eye reboot. Soooo many people talk about this over here but I don't have access to it. Boooo. I'm hoping our cable provider will hopefully acquire it because I was such a fan of the original.

Hope you've been doing well Rowena, got a lot to catch up on hahahaha!

Okay I had no idea that there was a third Devil Wears Prada book - I'm going to have to add that to my must read list, after I finish my current (rather uninspiring!) work related book, ha!

Hope you are having a lovely start to your week! It's a cold one here in Brisbane!
